“I hate you.”

“No you don't.” He rolled his eyes.

I bit back a whimper. There were so many people.

Jack sighed and slung an arm around my shoulders. “I've got you. We'll get you a beer and this will only get easier.” I felt my hands start shaking. “Alex, knock it off would you?”

“'S not s-something I can t-turn off,” I grumbled.

“Well you stopped doing it around me when we hang out.”

I felt the heat in my face. “C-Can't I just g-go home?”

He arched an eyebrow at me as he yanked me through the front door. “Alcohol now, home tomorrow.”



There certainly was alcohol.



It was over two hours later that I found myself giggling like a mad man over something I couldn't even remember anymore, Jack at my side following suite.

“Oi, they're trashed,” Oli laughed to someone to his...right? Was that his right?

“Only a little!” I insisted before taking a sip from my cup. When nothing came out I turned to pout at Jack. “It's empty!”

“Cause you drank it all you,” hiccup, “you fucking drunk.” He passed my cup to Oli. “It's your house and you're kinda sober, get him something to drink.”

That other guy to some sideways direction of Oli that I honestly couldn't place laughed. “I think it's time for water for you two.”

“Fuck that!” Jack went to stand only to land back beside me, a hand on his head. “Whoa, maybe. Dude is the room actually spinning that fast?” I couldn't help the laughter that bubbled up and out my mouth.

“There you go, lads,” Oli handed us bottles of water. “You'll only need about twenty more to balance out the alcohol,” he chuckled.

Jack proceeded to guzzle his water until I smacked his chest. He coughed a little and looked to me confused and slightly annoyed. “What?”

“Don't do that, you'll throw up. That wouldn't be nice to Oli if you,” the room spun a little, but I blinked it back, “if you threw up all over his floor.” I turned to Oli for confirmation, but he and the other guy had disappeared. “Where'd O-” hiccup, “Oli go?”

Jack plopped his face into the hallow of my neck. “Lexy I don't feel good.”

“Told you not to, to gulp that shit,” I muttered as my hand ran through his hair.

“Alex?” I turned my head too fast, blurring my vision. When it cleared a bit I saw Lzzy standing next to me.

“Liz!” I smiled.

“Is that Jack down there?” she arched an eyebrow.

I turned my head slower this time to look where Jack had curled up with his head in my lap. “Huh.”

“You two are really drunk,” she sighed.

I shook my head sharply. “Nu-uh.” My stomach protested when the room really started to spin.

I heard Lzzy sigh again and mutter something mildly insulting. “Did Jack drive you two here?”

“Yup!”

She pointed at me as she glared. “You two stay put. Just stay there, I'll be right back. You got that, Alex? What are you going to do?” I blinked at her. Jack groaned in my lap, catching my attention. “Alex! Hello, up here!” She snapped her fingers. When I looked back up she repeated, “What are you going to do?”

“Stay?”

“Yes. Stay; I mean it.” She walked away.

I had forgotten about Jack again until he whined about his stomach again. I began to run my hand through his hair again. It quieted him down to occasional whimpers of discomfort, which I gladly took over his big mouth. My head whipped up when a hand was placed on my shoulder. “Hmm?”

I was met with Rian's eyes. “Hey, bud, we're going to get you and Jack home, ok?”

“Jack's probably gonna hurl,” I blurted out.

Rian glanced down to the boy in a fetal position in my lap and chuckled. “Probably, if he isn't asleep already. I'll get him, can you walk?”

I scoffed at him. “Course.”

He gave me a wary look but shrugged and bent down to Jack, placing a hand on his shoulder. “Jay, c'mon I'm gonna take you home.”

I watched Jack crack one eye open and hold his arms out to his best friend. “Ri, I don't wanna walk!”

He chuckled. “I don't think you can.” He easily lifted Jack up into his arms. “It's a good thing you weigh nothing, kid.” Jack wordlessly threw his arms around Rian and snuggled into his neck. “You ok, Alex?”

I stood up. I then narrowly missed face-planting on the floor. I looked up to find Lzzy holding my arm. “Thanks you,” hiccup, “you're nice, I like you.”

She laughed as she situated herself to help me stumble out of Oli's house. “Thanks, Al, I like you, too.”

Somehow, the four of us made it to Jack's car – unharmed, too – to meet Cass. She was sitting on the hood swinging her legs, looking at something on her phone. She looked up and smiled. “Hey guys, they ok?”

Lzzy shook her head. “Oh no, they're far gone. Jack's cuddling.”

Cassadee laughed as she jumped off the car. “Wow, he really is fucked up.” She skipped over to her boyfriend and laid a gentle hand on the boy in his arms. “Honey, where are your keys?”

Jack mumbled something in to Rian's neck, but I was focusing on not passing out. I wasn't doing a good job of that.

“Whoa, steady there, killer,” Lzzy said, stumbling to regain balance.

“Throw him back here.”

I wasn't too sure who was talking, but I did know that I was put in the back seat of Jack's car, and that he immediately cuddled into my side, his face in the crook of my neck. I think it was Lzzy who drove us back to Jack's place, but I honestly couldn't be certain. I know that she definitely helped me out of the car and into the house. We followed Rian, with Jack in his arms again, up to Jack's room. I wasn't sure where Lzzy began to take me, but Jack was not having that.

“No! No, I want Lex in here. Don't wanna be alone,” he whined.

My two sober friends looked to me. I shrugged. “I don't care. I jus-” hiccup, “I just wanna sleep.”

“Yay! Lexy come cuddle!” Jack reached out to me.

I think Lzzy rolled her eyes, but mine were just about closed so I couldn't tell. I tumbled into Jack's bed and he immediately latched on to me.

“Gnight guys,” Rian chuckled as he left, shutting out the light on his way, but I was already just about asleep.
