Lifestyles of the Rich and the Famous
Chapter 6
“Come on, come on!” Jack tugged on my sleeve.
I chuckled. “What is so important that we needed to go to the mall today and rush through it?”
He sighed impatiently. “Come on Lexy, just roll with it. Please?”
I sighed, but followed him to his car anyway. Jack spared me from one of my usually painful attempts at stuttering through a conversation by blaring his music until I was sure I'd gone deaf. My ears were ringing when we got out of the car and walked into the mall – Jack's arm slung around my shoulders, naturally.
He quickly whisked us through the large and unfamiliar complex to some clothing store so out of my normal price range I had never even heard it's name. “This store's my favorite. I wanted to pick up something quick, but take a look around, see if you like anything. You can't wear that same pair of jeans forever.” He winked and was gone.
I rolled my eyes. Jack was something else – whether that something else was intriguing or just a pain in my ass, I couldn't determine just yet though. I browsed the store anyway. It was one of those places so expensive that it didn't even have prices on the items. I shuddered at the thought of the kind of money you needed to shop somewhere like this.
“Find anything you like, Lexy?” Jack purred in my ear.
I shrugged. “I-I dunno.”
He pursed his lips and glanced around the store. “Ah!” He crossed the store, disappearing from my line of sight for a moment before something else caught his eye and he followed it. I watch this happen twice more before Jack came back with an outfit in his hands. He shoved it my way. “Go try this on.”
I arched an eyebrow. “W-why? I can't afford t-this.”
He sighed. “Humor me.” I groaned but trudged off to do it anyway.
“Why are these – ugh! – pants so,” I tugged on the waist band and hopped around a bit, “fucking,” I sighed as they finally slid into place on my hips, “tight?”
“It's in style, Lexy!” Jack called from outside the door. I grumbled a few choice words in his general direction as I buttoned up the ungodly soft shirt that he had forced upon me. “Are you almost done?”
I sighed but slipped my converse back on and opened the door for Jack's opinion. “Happy? I don't think I'm going to be able to get out of this fucking thing,” I muttered.
I watched as my new friend appraised me up and down before twirling his finger. “Spin.”
I shot him my most incredulous look. “You're joking.” He only twirled his finger more impatiently. I sighed, but turned. “Jesus, this is ridiculo-” Whack! “Hey!” I jumped and spun around. I need to stop putting my ass in his reach.
Jack smirked at me from his new position of six inches away from me. “I like it. Take it off.”
I somehow managed to wiggle my way out of whatever those pants were made out of (because it certainly wasn't denim) and slipped back into my normally fitting jeans. When I came out Jack took the garments from my hands. “What are you doing?”
Jack dumped the pile on the counter. “Getting you something decent to wear.”
“Excuse me?” I scoffed.
He sighed impatiently. “You can't wear faded jeans and ripped sneakers to a party. Not here. Especially not when you go with me.” He swiped a card and thanked the girl behind the register. “Let's go, Lexy, we have things to do.” He grabbed the bag off the counter and briskly walked towards the exit.
I very seriously contemplated leaving his ass, but he drove and I had no clue how long of a walk home it would be, or even how to get home. So, thoroughly pissed off, I followed him. “You're fucking annoying,” I muttered as I shuffled my way up to his side.
He smirked at me. “You're fucking adorable when you're mad. Wonder what would happen if I really pissed you off?”
I really hated Jack.
Notes
Yeah, I'm shit at this. Sorry, school and finals and my friend nearly breaking my finger kept me from updating, but here I am! So yeah...have this and I'm sorry but I'll do better now. Thanks for being so kind :) Enjoy! ~ Anna
