Lifestyles of the Rich and the Famous

Chapter 20

Once Jack had sobbed himself into exhaustion, we made our way back to my room. My parents had decided long beforehand that our conversation was over and had subsequently dispersed.

Jack shuffled into my room behind me, his head low. As he sat on my bed, I closed the door. He sighed. “I’m sorry.”

I cocked an eyebrow as I joined him. “For what?”

He gestured broadly, hands whirling in circles. “All of this. For bringing you into my problems. I thought I had it under control.” He yawned.

I laid back, gently pulling him with me. “Don’t worry about any of that. You need some rest.”

He shook his head, but tucked himself into my side. “No, ‘m fine.”

“Of course, whatever you say,” I chuckled.

He was asleep in seconds.

I checked the time quickly, and discovered that I had to haul ass to get May. I slid out of Jack’s hold, grabbing my phone wallet and keys as I ran out the door.

Jack:
For the second time that day, I woke up alone in Alex’s bed.

I scrubbed my eyes with the heels of my hands. Just as I was starting to sit up, the door opened.

Alex walked in, May fast asleep in his arms. He saw me and gave a small smile. “Hey,” he whispered, placing my sister down on his bed. “She knocked out in the car on the way here. I figured she could probably use a nap today.” I nodded. He sat. “So, I was thinking we should get out of the house tonight.”

“Oh?” I glanced at May.

Alex chuckled. “Lzzy already said she would babysit. No excuses.” He leaned forward to press a kiss to my cheek. “I did promise you a date anyway.”

I grinned. “Yeah, I guess you did. What are we doing.”

He grinned sheepishly. “I haven’t gotten that far yet, but I’ll figure it out.”

I laughed, but quieted quickly when May rolled over, reminding me she was still asleep by my hip. I made my way off the bed and led Alex into his bathroom. “May and I should go home tonight.”

Alex sighed, leaning back on the closed door. “Yeah, I know. I'll stay over, just in case of anything.”

I nodded as I stepped closer to him. “Sounds good.”

He grinned up at me. “Good.” He leaned in slowly to press a soft, lingering kiss to my lips. Just as I was about to deepen it though, he pulled back. “Save it for tonight, big guy.” He winked and slipped back into his room and strolled out the door with a stupid shit eating grin.

I rolled my eyes. Asshole.

Alex:
“For Christ’s sake Jack, your hair looks fine,” I groaned, doing up the last button of my shirt. He ignored me and continued with his assault of hair spray.

I felt a tug on my jeans and looked down to find May at my side. “Why do I have to stay with Lzzy?” she pouted.

I chuckled and squatted down to her level. “Because Jack and I are going out.”

“But why can’t I go out with you?”

“Because I said so,” Jack laughed, finally emerging from the bathroom.

“But that’s not fair!”

I shot a look to Jack telling him to shut his mouth. “Jack and I are going on a date tonight, so it’s just the two of us, but maybe if you’re really good for Lzzy all three of us will go do something tomorrow.”

Her eyes lit up. “Really?”

“Only if you behave.”

“I will! I will!” She threw herself at me, gripping my neck in a tight hug. I saw Jack grin happily, and couldn’t help but return it.

Jack:
“That was…nice?” I really didn’t mean for that to come out as a question.

Alex shook his head with a small smile as we got back in the car. “That was shit, I had no idea it would be that crowded.”

We had gone to see the latest Marvel movie, but Alex forgot to factor in what the line would be like. We waited online for nearly two hours only to get seven people from the front and have the last show of the night sell out. I wasn’t a dedicated superhero movie kind of guy, but the movie looked good enough and Alex had seemed excited with his idea.

“How about we go grab some pizza?” I suggested. “I’m starving, and it’s still pretty early.”

He sighed. “Yeah, yeah. Sounds good. Where to?”

I gave him directions to my favorite pizza parlor in town. I could see he was disappointed with the way our night had played out so far, and it gave me an idea. Once Alex parked, I dragged him inside quickly and made him order.

“You two together?” The guy behind the counter asked as he slid Alex’s pizza in the oven to warm up.

“Um,” Alex looked to me with wide eyes, clearly caught off guard.

The guy laughed. “I mean your order. Anything else is not really my business.”

I chuckled. “Right, yeah, one order.”

As he slid my food in next to Alex’s, he asked, “To stay or go?”

“Stay, I guess,” Alex shrugged.

I shook my head. “No, to go, definitely.”

Alex arched an eyebrow at me. “You just wanna eat at home?”

I just grinned at him and went to get my wallet as the guy behind the counter punched our order into the register. Before I could get my card out, Alex handed him cash and stuck his tongue out at me.

“I could have paid,” I grumbled.

“You whined about being ‘courted’, so shut up and let me pay for pizza, you big baby.” Alex rolled his eyes as he stuffed his wallet back into his jeans. The guy behind the counter passed our finished food to us.

I eagerly grabbed our box and ran to the car while he shuffled behind me. “Oh come on, Lex, you can walk faster than that!”

He rolled his eyes again.
Alex:
I had barely stopped the car when Jack jumped out and jogged to his front door. He opened it and turned to find me only just shutting off the car. “Come on, Lex!”

I made my way to the door, earning an impatient sigh from Jack, who stood tapping his foot. “What’s your rush?” I grumbled.

As soon as I was inside, he took off for the stairs. “Grab something to drink from the kitchen and meet me upstairs. Actually, make it a bottle of wine. Or two. Oh! There’s two nice bottles of cab in the rack in the kitchen, grab those!” He then yelled something about glasses but was too far away to hear properly.

I grabbed the bottles Jack wanted and two stemless wine glasses. I wasn’t much for wine, but I knew an expensive bottle when I saw one – or held two. When I knocked on Jack’s door, he took everything out of my hands and told me to go get May from Lzzy’s, shoving sixty bucks into my hand before shutting the door in my face.

I sighed. All I wanted was to sit down and eat. I was annoyed with the way the night had turned out, and wasn’t really in the mood for Jack’s nonsense. Never-the-less, someone had to get May before it got too late, so I shuffled back out to my car to get Jack’s sister.

“Alex!” May grinned, running up to wrap herself around my waist.

“Hey, kiddo, were you good for Liz?” I chuckled, picking her up. She nodded furiously, but I looked to my friend for confirmation.

Lzzy laughed. “Yeah, she was an angel. I gave her dinner because I thought you guys were going to be out later than this.”

May had laid her head on my shoulder and was fighting sleep. I rubbed a slow hand in circles on her back as I checked the clock. “Yeah, that’s fine, I thought we’d be out later, too. My plans fell through because we couldn’t get tickets for the movie. In any case, it’s past this one’s bedtime.” May shook her head in my shoulder, but yawned.

Lzzy chuckled. “Come on, I’ll walk you out.”

As I put May in the car, Liz pulled her sweatshirt tighter to her body. When I had turned and shut the door, she pounced. “So are you two together or something? Cause when you asked me to babysit it sure as hell sounded like a date, and I swear to God I will beat your ass if you two are dating behind my back.”

I laughed. “Yeah, we, um, kinda got together yesterday.”

She squealed and punched my arm. “And you didn’t tell me?! Oh my god! You two are dating!” She took a breath to calm herself before giving me a serious look. “Have you fucked him yet?”

I felt heat rush up my neck. “Liz! Jesus Christ, I’m not talking about this right now. I have to get May in bed.”

“Oh my god, you did!” she squealed.

“No! No, no, we didn’t, ok? I have to go, now.” I rushed.

She laughed at me. “We are so having a long chat about this tomorrow.” I groaned. “Quit your bitching.” She pulled me into a tight hug. “I’m so happy for you two! This is great! I knew it would happen eventually, but I didn’t think it would happen this soon.”

I rolled my eyes as I handed her the cash from Jack. “Yeah, yeah, whatever. I’ll see you tomorrow.”

When I was finally able to get in my car, May was knocked out in the back seat. She slept through the entire ride home. Deciding against waking her up, I carefully undid her seatbelt and carried her up to her room. Once she was tucked in bed, I made my way back to Jack’s room, hoping that I could finally just sit down and eat.

The door was shut, but I didn’t bother knocking. I stepped in to find a tent of blankets and pillows with Jack sat in the middle, pouring a glass of wine. I couldn’t help but laugh. “You built a pillow fort while I was gone?”

He grinned and held out the glass he’d just poured. “We’re making our own movie night, complete with food and booze.”

I shook my head as I joined him. “You’re ridiculous.”

He kissed me. “Hush, you love it, this is fucking adorable.” He took a sip from his own glass. “I know you were pretty bummed out about your date plans falling through, but this way I get to put hickies on your neck while you’re trying to watch the movie.”

“You’d do that anyway.”

He shrugged. “Maybe, but I’m more likely to get laid here.”

I rolled my eyes. “In your dreams.”

Two hours and two bottles of wine later, the movie was over, but I wasn’t even sure what it was about as Jack had diverted my attention halfway through.

“Mmm, Lex,” Jack moaned as I added to the colorful splotches on his neck. When I pulled away, he gripped my hips and rolled us over. He slipped one hand up under my shirt. “I think,” he grinned as he lifted my shirt up and I helped get it over my head. He tossed it to the side. “I think you should go get that pretty little ass up on the bed while I lock the door.” He left no time for argument, suddenly his weight was gone.

I chuckled to myself, but followed Jack out of the mess of blankets we’d been rolling around in. Once the door was locked I threw Jack down onto his bed. “Be a good boy and get all that fabric out of the way, yeah?”

He smirked at me. “Aw, shy little Lexy thinks he’s in charge.”

I raised an eyebrow. I held his wrists above his head in one hand and his jaw in the other. I pinned the rest of him down by straddling his hips. “Oh no, baby, I know I’m in charge.” He tried to roll us over but I tightened my grip. “What was that?”

“Nothing,” he panted.

“Nothing, what?”

His eyes widened, just a bit. “Nothing, sir?” he tried.

I grinned. “You’re damn right.”

Jack:
I shivered, but it was mostly from excitement. I wouldn’t have guessed that Alex was so dominant in bed, but I suppose it’s always the quiet ones. When he let go of my wrists I ran my hands down his exposed chest. I was all into it until my fingers hit a section of uneven skin. I would have thought nothing of it, but it was large and on both his hips.

Alex jerked back, quickly. I think he saw the question in my eyes, but he growled at me to turn around. I wanted to ask him what was up, but quickly forgot anything that wasn’t Alex’s hand scratching up my spine, giving me chills.

Notes

So two months. Sorry about that. Writer's block is a bitch, but I'm already on the next chapter so it won't be two months for that one, I swear. Sorry. Enjoy - Anna
