Lifestyles of the Rich and the Famous

Chapter 16

I had a fraction of a second to make a decision. One that might change everything. One that might change nothing. One that had the potential to put me on cloud nine. One that had the potential to break my heart. One decision that could change the entirety of the new life I'd managed to build in this new town, and I barley even had a fraction of a second to make it. I had a moment of panic and terror and fear of what would come next, but I had decided, and there was no going back now.

I fisted my hands in Jack's shirt and pulled him closer. I kissed him deeper. It's for him. He needs you. He's hurting. You need to be whatever he needs. I tried to convince myself that I was only doing this for Jack, but a small part of me knew I had wanted to do this for a long time, and was happy to finally see me giving in.

I could tell Jack was still checking himself. He was holding back. He was looking for any sign of reassurance, so I gave it to him. I flipped us over so that Jack's back slapped roughly onto the smooth tiled wall. He let out a low groan, pain mixing with lust, as he gripped my hips hard enough to leave bruises.

Everything was rough and fast. Hands gripped hard. Hair was pulled taught. The kiss was a mess of tongue and nips and lips being pulled between teeth. Every time we moved we slammed, hard, into something else. Shirts were pulled, harshly, over heads and hurled, sharply, to the opposite wall. I hissed as my lower back collided with the counter. Jack took it as an opportunity to attack my neck. A deep moan – that I tried to keep quiet – escaped from the back of my throat. Both of my hands made it to his ass and squeezed as I thrust my hips to his. He bit down where he was sucking on the hallow of my neck and grunted. I pulled his mouth back to mine by his hair as I flipped us over again. He threw his head back, grinding his teeth, as I rolled my hips against his. I felt his nails drag down my back as I seized the chance to return the splotches of color I was sure were covering my neck. I was certain his nails dug into my back hard enough to draw blood when I bit just above his color bone as a result of his hips bucking up to meet mine.

“Fuck, Lex,” he moaned.

There was a knock on the bathroom door.

We froze. Jack and I stared at each other, eyes wide, chests heaving. The realization of what we'd just done came crashing down, hard. We scrambled to get our shirts on quickly, avoiding eye contact, before Jack unlocked the door. My face and neck were on fire as the bathroom light spilled out to reveal a sleepy, confused, and slightly afraid May Barakat.

She rubbed her eye with one hand while the other held Beverly tightly. “Jacky? Alex?”

Jack knelt down to hug her. “We're right here, baby. What's wrong?”

“I woke up and I was alone and I didn't know where,” she whimpered.

I squatted next to Jack and brushed some hair from her face to tuck it behind her ear. “We're at my house, love.”

“Remember I told you we were going to spend a couple days with Alex?” Jack reminded her softly.

May looked at me and nodded. “Oh, right.” She pulled away from her brother and wrapped her arms around my neck. “Thank you, Alex. I didn't want to be home anymore.”

I kissed her hair as I swallowed back tears. I looked Jack in the eyes as I said. “You're always welcome here.” He put a hand on my my shoulder and nodded, conveying his thanks with his eyes. May yawned, resting her head down on my shoulder. I chuckled. “Looks like you need to go back to sleep, little miss.”

She held on tighter as I picked her up and walked her over to my bed. Jack shut out the light as he followed. I placed her under the covers, but before I could turn to leave, she grabbed my hand. “No, please stay.” Her eyes shifted from mine to Jack's and back. “Please.” She was on the verge of tears, her tiny hand gripping mine tightly.

“I'll be right here, May.” Jack moved to sit on the edge of the bed.

She looked at me, refusing to let go of my hand.

“I'll be right downstairs, princess.”

She didn't let go, and even jutted out her bottom lip for effect. Jack chuckled. I rolled my eyes.

“We'll be right here,” I corrected.

May accepted that as Jack moved to lay between her and the wall. She scooted over and tugged my hand down. Once she made sure I had lied down on her other side, May cuddled up into her brother's chest. She was asleep within a minute, and rolled over to snuggle herself into my side.

Jack chuckled as I wrapped an arm around the sleeping girl to run my fingers through her hair – she liked it as much as her brother. “She adores you, ya know.” He smiled and I couldn't help but return his grin.

We laid in silence for a few minutes, I thought Jack had fallen asleep, but he coughed softly. “So um,” he propped himself up on his elbow, suddenly uncomfortable. Here it comes. “We should talk.”

I sighed and looked over at him. Even in the dark room I could see how tired he was. The nights events had taken a toll on us all, but I had a feeling they'd hit Jack the hardest. Being careful not to wake May, I turned to face him. I put a hand on his neck, my thumb stroking his cheek as heat from his blush radiated to my skin. He lifted his eyes to mine. “It's been a very, very long night. This one,” I looked quickly to May, who was still clinging to me, “is certainly not letting me leave any time soon.” I smiled when that got a chuckle out of him. “We can talk tomorrow, Jack. For now, just get some sleep.”

He took my hand from his neck to hold it, letting out a relieved sigh. “Thanks, Lex.”

I grinned at him. “Any time.”

Notes

I have like five different directions for this story and I'm not sure which one to take it in. But I can't write the next chapter until I decide which way to go. So help me out here.
How do you guys want the rest of the story to play out?
1)
More so about the jalex (aka ultra relationship drama)
2) More so about the Barakats getting straightened out (by no means will the jalex be lacking)
3) Or I could try and do a blend so that there's drama with the jalex while shit goes down with the Barakat house
I don't know which way I like more, so leave a comment and help a sister out, yeah? Enjoy! - Anna
