Chapter 14

I woke the up the next morning sore and cramped. As I looked around, there was bodies lying around everywhere. I used the wall to help me up but stumbled off it as I got to my feet. I walked over people, nearly kicking some girl in the head as I tripped over a bottle that was left on the floor.

This is going to take a lot to clean up. I walked up the stairs to my room where I saw that the light was on and the door was closed. I went to open it and it was locked. I knocked on the door a couple times before deciding to walk away.

As I reached the end of the hallway, I heard the door open and as I turned around I saw Jaime look out of the room. He smiled to me before walking up to me and tapping me on the shoulder.

‘Vic has drunk a bit too much and I was just looking after him because I couldn’t seem to find you.’ He said.

I looked over him as he spoke, his lips were red, hair messy and out of breath a little. I frowned to him and ignored what he said before I walked into my room and closed the door, locking it so he couldn’t come back in.

I walked to the bed and fell into it, ignoring the fact that I could hear Vic vomiting in the bathroom across from me. I closed my eyes and soon enough fell back asleep.

Once I woke up again, I noticed that the sun was up and it was shining bright in my room. I groaned as I rolled over and pushed my face into the pillows.

‘Good morning sunshine. It’s time to get up!’ Vic said as he walked into the room, the smell of pancakes following him.

‘Vic, I am too hungover for this.’ I replied in a mumble.

‘But I made pancakes and they are your favourite.’ He said sounding defeated.

‘Actually, no they aren’t.’ I rolled to face him.

Vic’s face scrunched up with guilt. I frowned to him and shook my head.

‘Sorry honey. I thought that they were.’ He replied while walking over to me. ‘Go have a shower and freshen up.’ He said, leaning down to kiss me. He kissed my cheek before turning around and walking out.

I lied in bed for the rest of the day. My stomach not being able to handle food and if I moved, I was bound to throw up, plus I really am just having a bad day. I was about to fall asleep again when Vic returned from going out to see Jaime.

‘Jack, baby.’ he said walking into the room.

I looked over to him, not giving him the satisfaction of replying.

‘It’s nearly dinner time. Are you sure you are feeling okay?’ he questioned, taking a seat on the bed next to me.

‘I’m fine. I just want to be on my own.’ I replied.

‘Jack, I don’t think you should be.’

‘Vic, please leave me alone.’ I said, getting annoyed.

‘Don’t you get angry with me, Jack. I am just trying to help.’ Vic argued back.

‘I don’t want to deal with anything now, just leave.’ I said, rolling my back to him.

‘Don’t you turn your back to me!’ Vic demanded as he pulled my arm.

I jumped up and moved myself out of the bed. I pushed Vic up to the wall, my hands gripping to his shirt. When he hit the wall, it made a thud and Vic made a groaning sound.

‘Look Vic. I have had enough of your shit. I thought that you were going to be better after going to rehab but you honestly didn’t get any better. I have this theory right, that you didn’t even go to rehab. You were fucking Jaime. The whole two months. And when you got sick of him, you came back to me and I fell for your stupid game. I know what happened last night Vic. Alex told me that he saw you and Jaime kissing and he warned me that you were bad for me and I didn’t listen because you had me wrapped around your little finger. You went back to see him again today. Vic, please pack your things and leave my house. Give me my key and fuck right out of my life because you honestly make my life a living hell.’ I said, grip tightening with every word.

I let go and pushed myself away, allowing Vic to move. I began walking towards the bed when Vic jumped on my back, we fell to the floor where I turned to my back and faced him. Vic swung him arms back and forth, connecting them to my face each time. I tried my best to fight back but began to struggle.

I got one good shot in and it knocked Vic backwards. I moved a little bit, wiping my hand over my nose, looking at the blood dripping from my hand. Vic came back once more with all his force and I moved quickly out the way. I jumped to my feet and ran for the door, leaving the monster behind me.

‘That’s right, run away!’ Vic yelled.

I ran out the house and ran to the nearest house I could remember how to get to. After climbing up the flights of stairs, I reached the door and knocked on it. I had to sit myself down on the floor as I was out of breath and still bleeding. The door opened and Alex looked out, he looked down at me and quickly moved me inside, using his arm to guide me.

‘Jack, what happened?’ He questioned as he placed me on the couch softly.

‘Vic got me. I broke up to him. I had enough.’ I replied.

‘I’m so sorry that happened Jack.’ Alex said as he was in the kitchen.

He came back to me with a wet cloth and sat next to me as he faced me.

‘Do you mind?’ He questioned. I shook my head no and he softly dabbed my nose, wiping the blood away.

‘I know he cheated Alex. And it doesn’t surprise me that he did. Like I was ready to be hurt again. Maybe that is all I am good for?’ I admitted.

‘You aren’t meant to be hurt. You need to be cared for.’ Alex said.

‘He has always been bad for me, hasn’t he? I have been so clueless.’ I said.

‘Jack, you were in love and you just didn’t see it because that is what love does to you. It makes you see the good in people and not the bad until you have been hurt to many times.’ He replied.

I smiled to him and waited for him to finish cleaning my nose. Once we were done, Alex said he would drive me home to make sure that Vic was out of the house. I agreed but was terrified to find out what was going to happen if he was still there.

The drive was quiet and when we arrived at the house, Vic’s car was still in the driveway.
‘He is still here. Call the police Jack and stay here.’ Alex said as he stopped the car and jumped out. I unbuckled my seatbelt, hopped out the car and started walked up the driveway towards the door.

‘Hello, 911, what is your emergency?’ The lady asked.

‘Hi, there is an abusive intruder in my home and was wondering if I could get the police to come make him leave my house?’ I questioned.

‘We will send a patrol car over shortly. Are you safe for the time being?’ She questioned.

‘I believe I am for now. Did you need my address?’ I asked.

‘Already done sir. We just linked the GPS on your phone.’ She replied.

As she let me know that the police car was on its way, a gunshot was heard from the house.

‘Alex…’
