Chapter 11

Waking up, I saw that I was still at Alex’s house, wrapped in his arms. I saw something at the corner of my eye, a figure and when I had a bit more confidence I turned my head a little bit to see Melody smiling to me.

‘Morning Mr. Jack!’ She said in a bubbly voice. I forgot that children this young are early risers.

‘Morning Melody. Should we go get some breakfast and let Daddy sleep?’ I asked as I slowly removed myself From Alex, not waking him up.

‘I’ve been awake for like an hour, I was just enjoying the cuddle.’ Alex spoke from behind me. His breath sent shivers down my back as he did.

I smiled as I turned my head more around to feel Alex’s close to mine. I sat myself up and stretched, cracking all bones in my body. I watched Alex’s face go from admiring to my body to disgusted at my body.

‘Anyway, shall we have breakfast?’ I asked before finding my pants and placing them on.

‘Breakfast!’ Melody yelled as she jumped over Alex and ran past me and out the room.

‘She’s my little Flash.’ Alex mentioned as he lied on the bed. He spread out like a starfish and sighed.

‘What’s up buttercup?’ I questioned as I walked over towards him. I sat on the edge of the bed, looking to him.

‘It’s just that, last night was almost perfect and now that you are going to meet with Vic today, I just know you’ll get back with him and that scares me because he will always be like that but I don’t want to stop you from being with your true love.’ Alex said. He sighed and rolled so he could sit up.

He sat behind me and I moved around a bit more so I could move in and kiss him.

‘I am meeting him for coffee, not having sex with him Alex. And after today, I think I will know who I want to be with.’ I said. I smiled to him before leaning in and peaking his lips.

‘Alright, let’s have some breakfast!’ Mood raising as he spoke. He did a little jump off the bed and put on some shorts which were lying around.

I could see the pep in his step and I smiled. I stood up and followed behind him a little as we walked to the kitchen.

Alex made some pancakes before we sat down to set and by the time I had eaten them, it was time for me to leave so I could go home and get ready to meet with Vic.

‘Thank you for staying over Jack.’ Alex said as he walked me to the door.

‘Thank you for allowing me to stay. Now, don’t touch my hand and kiss me.’ I replied, making Alex laugh.

‘Of course not.’ He said, as he opened the door.

I smiled at him before leaning in and kissing his cheek. He smiled, tilting his head away.

‘I’ll message you later’ I said as I walked out and Alex closed the door behind me.

I made my way home and headed for the shower. As I reached my room, there was soft music playing from behind my door. I don’t recall leaving the alarm clock on and it should have turned off by now.

I turned the doorknob slowly, pushing the door open. There sat on the bed was Vic. He smiled up at me and I sighed.

‘What are you doing here?’ I asked as I walked in, closing the door behind me.

‘I was curious about what everything looked like now. Not much has changed.’ He replied.

‘I liked the way everything was. Anyway, how did you get into the house?’ I said.

‘I still have my key. That was one thing that I didn’t leave you. I held it every day for 2 months as a reminder that you have a lock on my heart.’ He answered.

‘Right. It’s early though. You weren’t meant to be here until 10.’ I stated.

‘I wanted to see you.’ He said.

‘Well, look. I need to have a shower and then I will meet you downstairs. You know where everything is, you can make the first cup.’ I said, walking to the bathroom, closing the door and locking it.

I sighed as I stared at myself in the mirror. Jumping in and out of the shower, I chucked on some shorts and a shirt before making my way down to find Vic on the couch with a cup of coffee.

I walked up and took the seat next to him, retrieving the coffee of the table for me. I took a sip and placed the coffee in-between my hands.

‘So, how is everything going Vic?’ I asked as I looked to him.

‘I feel so much better. I haven’t touched alcohol for 2 months and I have been working on my anger. They were my main priorities when I went to rehab.’ He replied.

‘That is so great to here Vic. I am so glad.’ I replied.

‘How have you been?’ He questioned.

‘I have taken a lot of time to figure things out within myself. I have been very happy.’ I answered.

‘I am glad to hear that Jack. I am happy that you are happy.’ Vic replied.

It fell silent as we sat in the living room. Vic placed his coffee cup on the table and turned to me.

‘Jack, I have missed you so much and I still love you so much.’ Vic said. I turned to him in shook.

I knew this was coming, I just didn’t know when. I placed my cup on the table before turning to face him more.

‘Look, Vic. I missed you too, and I love you but I need to figure out what I want and what I need.’ I said.

‘it’s because of him, isn’t it?’ He asked.

I didn’t reply. He sighed and rolled his eyes as he stood up from the couch.

‘Look, Alex was never good to you, Tyler was never good for you. You and me, we work. We connect. I love you and you love me, that’s how it has been for years. Alex has been in your life for like nearly 6 months and you are already falling for his foolish lies. Please, give me a chance to prove to you that I am really who you need.’ Vic begged, looking down to me.

I couldn’t help but think back to the times I spent with him. I was happy for the most part of it. Other than those last couple of months. My promise to myself was about to be broken and I felt foolish because of it.

‘Vic, if we get back together, we are taking it slow. Like when we first dated. I need to take my time to make sure you won’t hurt me and you can’t get mad that I am friends with Alex.’ I stated.
Vic took a seat next to me, closer this time and placed his hand on my leg.

‘You won’t regret this.’ He said.

Vic and I watched movies until he went home. I had to call Alex and tell him what has happened.

I walked out the back and sat myself down on the fire pit before pulling out my phone. I didn’t hesitate to call, knowing it was going to be worse if I did. As the phone dialled, I began to pace. I couldn’t sit still.

‘Jack.’ Alex said through the phone.

‘Hi Alex. I just thought I would let you know that I am going to give Vic another chance.’ I said. I heard him choke a little before he spoke.

‘That’s great Jack. I hope that it all works out in the end.’ He replied.

‘Alex, we can still be friends, and we can hang out. Vic said he was fine with it.’ I stated, hoping it would make him feel better.

‘I would love that.’ He replied.

‘Okay. Well, I’ll let you sleep and I will see you tomorrow at work.’ I said.

‘And Jack, know that I will wait to pick up the pieces if you ever break.’ He said, before the line went dead.

I found a spot on the ground and lied down, looking up to the sky thinking about what I just did.

Hah, I knew it, stupid Jack still thinks he's in love with Vic! Why? On a side note, an Uber driver can't decide the price, its deducted from your credit card by Uber.
