Taking Chances

Shopping, Innuendoes and Halo

Nelly POV

I didn’t understand what was going on with Astro. He had asked if I like Alex, I mean I do but was it his business. Everything about my life seemed to be the band’s business, but it’s a good thing most times and sometimes it’s annoying. Like the one time I told Jase I was fine but he went to my ex’s house and demanded to know what was up and my ex told him. He said to Jase, and these are his exact words, ‘The stupid whore was fucking around with you. She couldn’t even bother to leave before I got back and she acted as if everything was ok. Well everything isn’t and she needs to realized that people don’t want a whore as a girlfriend.’ Safe to say that ex doesn’t, more like can’t, speak anymore, Jase made sure of it. To him anybody who talked shit about his best friend doesn’t deserve to talk, that was a good thing and an annoying thing. Was it really necessary to make sure he couldn’t talk anymore? What if the ass got married, how would he propose or say vowels? I shrugged isn’t my worry anymore.

After I answered Astro left I went back to my room to get ready to face the day. I got dressed in some clothes and grabbed my bag, fully ready to leave and get ready to shop. I needed some thing before Friday, which is when we leave for Warped Tour. When I walked downstairs I saw all the guys having a halo competition knowing I ‘d beat their asses I decided not to join in. “Guys I’m going to get some stuff for tour! If you need anything text me while I’m there. I’ll be back in about an hour.” I told everybody before grabbing Jase’s keys and walking out to his car.

Alex POV

Astro nudged me with his shoulder and I looked at him. “Go with her idiot.” He told me, and I grabbed my shoes before following her outside.

“Hey Nelly!” I called out to her before she got into the car. I saw her eyebrows knit together in confusion.

“I told you if you needed something, text it.” She told me, looking angry I didn’t follow her orders. I shook my head.

“That’s not it. I was wondering if I could join you?” I rushed to ask her before I backed down.

“Um… sure. Come on.” She told me before going to get in the car, this time without me stopping her. I followed her lead and sat in the passenger seat. She started the car and headed over to the mall, right down the street, by the donut shop actually. We both got out and we headed into the first store and that’s when both of our phones started to ring off the hook. We both got about ten texts from all of the guys saying what they wanted. I never really shopped for My Tears of Pain but I had a feeling Nelly did this a lot.

“Do you do this a lot Nelly?” I asked her, trying to make conversation. I say her look at her phone before looking at the shelves.

“Yeah, I do it before every tour. The guys always get the same things but sometimes they decide to switch it up. It’s like I’m the mother of the band. I thought this was the tour manager’s job? But I love this band like family to not do this for them.” She told me and I saw the genuine love for them in her eyes. “What about you? Do you shop for All Time Low?” She asked me.

I shook my head, “No I thought you’d need some help, because you aren’t just doing My Tears of Pain’s shopping anymore. So I’m going to be your know-it-all guide to shopping for All Time Low.” I said to her smirking at the end.

Nelly rolled her eyes before putting some stuff into the basket I grabbed from the entrance. “Let’s hurry up, I want this to be over with. I remember why I do this now and it’s annoying.” She told me before going down some more aisles and putting stuff into the basket. By the time we were finished in this store the basket was full; the total price of everything was fifty-seventy five, which I wasn’t going to let her pay by herself, so I offered to pay it. “No Alex. I do this all the time; the band puts away money just for this. So therefore you’re not allowed to pay.” Nelly told me sternly. I just sighed before she paid and we moved onto a different store.

After about an hour and an half we were done and heading back home, “Did you have fun Lex?” I couldn’t help but laugh weakly at the sentence.

“Hell no. My arms hurt and I’m tired from walking and carrying all the bags.” I told her, even though it sounded like I was whining, which I was.

“It gets better, the more you do it.” She told me with laughter in her voice.

“Yeah, I’m sure it does.” The sarcasm was thick with me right now.

“It does Alex. You’ll see.” She told me, before pulling into the driveway.

“Like I have any intentions of doing that again.” I told her seriously before going inside. “Guys go get your shit from the car.” I told them, before going to lie on the couch. I heard somebody mumble something but I was too tired to care.

“Alex, get up!” I heard somebody yell to me.

“What?” I asked sitting up on the couch. Go pack bus will be here tomorrow.” Rian told me. “Huh?” I could feel the confusion dripping off of me in waves and making puddles on the ground.

“You slept since you came back from the mall with me, Alex. You must’ve been really tired.” Nelly said to me.

“I told you.” I said getting up now that I remembered. “How were you not tired?” I asked her, wanting to know her secret.

“I do it all the time. And I spend everyday with Jase.” She told me before going upstairs, to her room I think. I followed her upstairs and went into my room and lay back down on my bed. I fell asleep again before somebody jumped on me. “I told you to pack not sleep!” I heard an angry voice say to me.

“But I want sleep!” I told her turning around so that she was under me and I was over her.

“Too bad, now get off of me!” I heard her yell but I had no intention of doing that. I sat up though, so my weight wouldn’t crush her to death.

“No can do, sweetheart. Should’ve thought about that before waking me up.” I told her before staring at her. She caught my eyes and I couldn’t help but notice her brown eyes, they were more of a hazel color and went well with her red hair and pale skin. I remember her once telling me her hair was naturally brown, but she died her hair red to ‘fight the establishment’ whatever that meant. I thought she’d look good with either color.

“Alex! Come on you’re practically killing me!” I heard her whine but her eyes didn’t stray from mines and mines hers. Just then I heard a knock on my door before it opened.

“Al, you need to be packing or else Nelly is going to get mad at you.” Martin said before looking at me. I could guarantee from his face he thought he interrupted something, and I guess he did, but not it that way.

“Dude not what it seems.” Nelly and I say at the same time but Martin just looks entertained.

“Sure…” He says, then I realized out position. I was straddling her and holding her wrists together above her head and we both unconsciously leaned in towards each other. Martin left with a laugh and closed the door behind him. Both Nelly and I looked at each other before blushing. I looked down and then around my room.

“I should be packing.” I said aloud. Nelly looked at me satisfied she won.

“Yeah you should be, we got tour in about a day.” She told me before walking out of my room, closing the door behind her. I followed her orders and packed what she brought me and some more stuff before packing my electronics. I left out of room and walked downstairs to see everybody gathered in the living room.

“What’s going on?” I asked aloud to anybody who’d answer.

“Halo competition. Nelly thought she could beat my ass.” Jack said to me.

“Because I can.” Was Nelly’s reply.

“Dude, she’s scary good at this shit. Maybe better than you.” Rian said to me before scooting over to give me somewhere to sit.

“Nah, I doubt that. I’m the best there is.” I say to him confident there was nobody better than me.

“Care to put your money, where your mouth is?” Nelly asked me, still staring at the TV.

“Nelly we said no gambling.” Astro said to her.

“But it’s easy money!” Nelly said to him.

“So what. No gambling means no gambling.” Astro said strictly.

“Fine.” Nelly said pouting just as the game with Jack ended. “I win! Hell yes!”

“No gambling but we can still play for bragging rights?” I asked her, thinking I just made a deal with the devil, a beautiful devil that is.

“Sure, bring it on.” Nelly said seriously before starting a game. I couldn’t help but chuckle at how serious she took Halo, but it was adorable at the same time.
