A Handful of Moments

Three Months

I stare at my figure in the mirror looking for any sign of the baby growing inside of me. It's almost three months since we first found out I was pregnant. Mathew convinced Alex to take some time to think about the whole situation during their European tour. I made Matt go with them under the condition that I have to call them everyday after their show. I stuck to my end of the deal and Matt had no choice but to stand by his.
I will admit I regretted sending everyone off. I've had this house mostly to myself for two and a half months, I got a job being a receptionist at a local law firm so I've had my distractions... Netflix has also been nice. 'Spilling into nine to five routine' if you will. I know it's dorky and probably cheesy but when I really miss them sometimes I'll watch the interviews or the live shows online. I don't want this to be my whole life, just waiting for them to come home. But that's exactly what I'm doing right now. Getting ready to go wait for them all at the airport. Sit idle for hours wondering what their trip was like, how many girls Alex slept with.
To be completely honest I hate airports. They make me feel rushed, like I should be doing something hugely important all the time. I straighten out the Suicide Silence, March to the Black Crown tank top I’m wearing. I should be starting to show soon too.
A group gathers around where I stand waiting for loved ones to land. A mother maybe in her late twenties with a toddler son stands next to me trying to shush him.
“Are you waiting for his father?” I blurt out, she looks up at me somewhat surprised,
“Uh, yeah.” She smiles at me and picks her son up, “You?”
“My brother and the guy who wants to act as the father.” I rest my hand on my stomach and look down, her face lights up.
“You must not be very far along then.”
“Almost three months. It will be three in a few days at least.” I smile back at her,
“Congrats.” He holds a hand out to me, “My name’s Wendy.” I take it and shake it,
“Rina.”
“Where is the father?”
“I’m not sure.” I shrug and drop my hand from my stomach.
“One night stand?” Wendy goes from happy to sympathetic. I scoff and shake my head,
“Not exactly.” I sigh and close my eyes pushing the memory from my mind.
“Oh I know how it is.” Wendy nods with a smirk on her face,
“You really don’t.” My voice is thick as I speak. I try to hold back any real emotions. People start to file out of the opening with their bags.
“Here.” Wendy pulls a small piece of paper out of her pocket, “You should call me or email me or whatever. That’s all my work information so.” She smiles, “I’d really like to hear more about your situation. There’s not a whole lot of moms our age that I know of.” I nod and take the card from her,
“I won’t forget.”
“Daddy!” The boy in her arms shouts, Wendy sets him down and he runs for a buisness man who just walked into the room, Wendy follows him leaving me alone once again.
I look down at my legs avoiding looking at the clock or the stream of people knowing that with all their gear the boys will probably take longer and I don’t want to wait expectantly for them to come last.
“Rina!” I look up to see Alex jogging at me with a huge grin on his face.
“Hey!” I laugh and meet him in the middle, I hold my arms out for a hug which he gladly gives me.
“I missed you so much.” Lex mutters into my ear squeezing me even tighter. My heart pounds in my chest and the butterflies return to my stomach like they did the last time I saw him. I love Alex. I might not be in love with him yet. Being with him, I finally feel safe. Over the past months we’ve had what seems like millions of long conversations after shows. We would talk until Alex would inevitably fall asleep on me. Often times the phone call would be interrupted by whoever was in the same hotel room as Alex that night yelling at him to shut up. The guy isn’t used to being quiet I don’t think.
“I know I missed you too sweetheart.” I mutter and kiss his cheek, “You showing yet?” Alex smiles widely and looks me directly in the eyes.
“I don’t think so.”
“You will be soon.” He takes a step back and grabs his suitcase, “Come on. Lets go home.”
“What about everybody else?” I frown and adjust my bag on my shoulder.
“They had to get another flight because all our shit didn’t fit on this last flight.” Alex chuckles, “We didn’t have service in the airport so they sent me ahead to pick you up.”
“I thought I was picking you up.” I smirk at him and start to head for the door.
“Well I’m picking you up because you’d have been standing here for another six hours if I hadn’t have come here so.” Alex grins down at me.
“Whatever.”
“Yeah whatever.”

Notes

Hey you guys. Sorry it's been so long. I haven't heard from Iwannabereckless for a while so i'm just going to start updating this occationally on my own. This is mostly a filler chapter to introduce a new character i'm thinking of using in the future so :P
