"Alex!" Jack shouts when I walk in through the door. He rushes to greet me with a hug. "Jack!" I hug him back, giving him an affectionate kiss. "Where have you been?" "Er, I, uh, had to fix something with... work." I hesitate. "Uh huh." He nods slowly. -he doesn't believe me- I think to myself. -I have to tell him eventually- "I made us some reservations for dinner. Are the kids asleep?" I say, trying to change the subject. "Mhm." He says. "I'll call Mark to come to look after them if they wake up." I walk to the kitchen to get the phone. "Go get ready, babe." I tell him with a smile, he smiles back & heads upstairs. I grab the phone & dial Mark's number. "Hello?" "Hey Mark, its me." "Alex! Did you tell him?" "N-Not yet... I will soon though." "Dude, you guys have been together for like, ever." "I know. Anyways... I made a dinner reservation for us, he's getting ready, would you mind coming over to watch the kids?" "Sure. Be there in a few." "Alright thanks man" "Mhm" And with that we hang up. I head upstairs to get ready & I hear the shower running. I walk to the closet to pick out my clothes, once I lay them out I knock on the bathroom door. "Jack? Mark will be here soon" "Okay, come in here?" "Sure" I smile softly. -Crap, I hope he doesn't see my scars...- I tug lightly at my sleeves.
