Beat It

Youngbloods

I don’t know what’s worse. Cleaning up a house or doing my foster brother’s chores for standing up for their friend. This life could swallow you whole. Vic, not that I have anything against the kid, doesn’t know when to say enough is enough. That’s why he’s targeted by douche bags like Kellin, the blue eyed freak.
Im not trying to justify what I did. I am far from perfect. If anything, I know what I did was wrong. I am so full of sin. If I had a choice, I wouldn’t resort to fighting the way I do. I just see red. As cliché as I sound right now, I do. When I get that way, it’s hard to calm me down. I can’t be stopped.

After I finished cleaning the kitchen I went up stairs and grabbed my stereo and a random New Found Glory CD. I put it on the bar that separates the kitchen from the living room and put in Sticks and Stones.

I started cleaning the living room while dancing along to Understatement. Well, I say dancing. It was more like uncoordinated movements to the beat of the song. Somehow I’ll carry on.

The song Never Give Up was about to finish playing when Zack and Rian walked through the front door. I had finished cleaning the dining room, kitchen, living room, upstairs and downstairs hallway, the bathroom, and my bedroom in three hours. I felt pretty accomplished. Especially because this house is always dirty. Not that were dirty people. It’s just a house full of four boys. If you actually expected to see it spotless you’ve got another thing coming. Don’t kid yourself.

“Hey, Jack,” Zack and Rian said while waving at me.

“Hey,” I replied, crossing the room to turn off the stereo.

“Dude, leave it on. New Found Glory is bae,” Zack stated while pointing a finger at me.

I simply just shook my head and turned around to go back into the living room. I swear I’ll never understand that boy.

They followed me into the living room and they both sat on either side of me. “So how was your day, Jacky boy?” Rian asks as he puts his arm around my shoulders.

I groaned as I put my head on his shoulder. “Rian, I don’t ever want to clean this house alone again,” I pouted.

“It sucked that bad?” Zack questions, propping his feet up on the table.

“Yes,” I nodded, lifting my head up. I kicked his feet of the table and glared at him. “I just polished that, ass.”

“Sorry mom,” he says, putting his hands up in fake surrender.

“Shut up.”

“Damn. Suspension changed you,” Rian joked, flicking me in the nose.

“Suspension had nothing to do with it. It was the long ass list of chores Flyzik said that I had to do,” I complained as I reached over to flick his ear. “I’ve been suspended plenty of times before.”

“Do you remember what got you suspended for the very first time?” Zack asked me.

I nodded then smiled at him. “Yeah, I remember. I was in the fourth grade and some kid was trying to take my cookies so I hit him in the nose then sat on him while I ate them.”

“Were they good cookies?” I looked at Zack then laughed. Of all the questions he could ask me about that, he asks about the cookies.

“Yes, Zack. The cookies were good.”

“That’s all that matters then,” he smiled then stood up. “Well, Im going to my room to play Call Of Duty. Anyone want to come play?”

“Im actually about to head out to the batting cages to practice. I’ll see you guys later,” Rian says as he checks his phone for the time.

Zack looks at me and I shake my head. “Im taking a nap. Cleaning took a lot out of me.” He shrugs and takes himself upstairs. Rian waves at me before leaving for baseball practice. I think I vaguely remember him telling me his first game is in a few weeks.

I went to get off of the couch when the door opened a third time in the last twenty minutes and Flyzik enters. I sigh. The chances of me getting to go take a nap are slim to none now.

“Hey, Jack,” Flyzik smiles at me. His bad mood from this morning must be gone. I silently thank the Heavens. If I had to hear another rant I might beat him up.

“Flyzik,” I wave and nod. “How was your day?”

“It was pretty good actually. I’ve been thinking a lot about your anger issues all day and I think I’ve figured out how to help,” he says, seeming so proud of himself. I really don’t know what he could do to help me so I raise an eyebrow, a lost look in my eyes.

“What?”

“Flyzik!” Zack yells, running downstairs. “There’s a gaming convention in a couple weeks and Tony said he would take me if you were chill with it,” he rushed, blabbering so fast that I hardly understood what he was saying. All I heard were the words ‘gaming’, ‘Tony’, and ‘chill’.

Flyzik seemed to understand every word, surprisingly, and nods. “I’ll have to look into it a bit but Im sure it’s fine.”

“Really?” Zack seems so surprised and happy. He’s like a fangirl at a concert. It’s pretty funny. Maybe, if I’m lucky enough, he’ll flash Flyzik and me.

“Yeah, really. It’s not like there’s going to be drunk guys passing around a crack pipe. It’s a bunch of nerd playing video games,” Flyzik shrugs, earning a glare from Zack.

“I am not a nerd!” Zack pouts.

“Keep telling yourself that kid,” Flyzik pats his shoulder before dismissing himself out of the kitchen where we were all standing and starts upstairs.

I guess I wont be finding out what his ‘cure’ for my anger is.

That makes me feel a lot better. Haha and thank you for being so understanding. I'll post a link to my new story as soon as we get chapters 6 and 7 ready. We are trying to get a good bit written so updates can be more frequent. If you guys like this crappy little story you will LOVE Murder In The First. I'm so excited I literally can't even.
