Beat It

I Use To Have A Best Friend (But Then He Gave Me A STD)

Rian and Zack offered to show me around the new school but I politely told them that I’d rather do it myself. As much as I would love to get along with them and be their best friend, I would rather stay by myself until I get use to this new place.

I already went to the office to get my schedule, books, and locker combination. I am now on my way to put away the things I don’t need, which consist of my history and english books, my hoodie, and my book bag.

I twirled the lock until it unlocked before opening it and put my two books in first, then my bag, and my hoodie went on top just in case I wanted to come back and get it later. I shut the door and turned around to get to my first class. Some guy came up and shoved my shoulders, I guess it’s his way of trying to intimidate me.

“Can you not? I don’t have time for you,” I snapped, trying to walk past him. The last thing I need is to get kicked out of another home for fighting.

“New kid’s got a smart mouth,” he smirks before shoving me back again.

“Bro, I don’t want to fight with you. Stop,” I demanded. I went to leave again but this douche was way to persistent for his own good.

“Why not? Scared mommy’s gonna yell at you?” I stopped trying to get away from him after he said that and hit him in the head with my books as hard as I could, managing to knock him off his feet in the process. There will be blood.

“I don’t have a mom,” I spat on him before trying to get to class. Of course, I couldn’t because a teacher saw.

“Young man,” he grabbed my shoulder, “follow me to the office.” I sighed but did as told, following the old man to the principle.

Such a great way to start the first day of school.

“Jack, this is your first day of school! How did you get suspended already?” Flyzik yells. You can’t lie your way out of this one.

“He was trying to pick a fight with me! I didn’t do anything wrong! I tried to walk away but he wouldn’t let me go. Then he said something about my mom and I got pissed and hit him with my books,” I explained, again. I told the principle the same story and Im sticking to it. They don’t have to believe me but that’s what happened. Just believe.

He runs his hands through his hair in frustration. “Is this why you got kicked out of your last few foster homes?” Flyzik questions harshly. I flinch at his words but not anyways. There’s no point in trying to hide it.

“Yes sir,” I say, looking down at my hands. It’s to hard to look him in the eyes. Put faith aside.

“If you want to stay here, Jack, you need to calm down,” he demands. “I believe you when you say the other boy started the fight but that doesn’t mean hitting him in the head with two books was ok.”

“I know. It just gets under my skin when people try to pick on me because Im different,” I shrug, looking up at Flyzik.

He visibly relaxes as his eyes meet my eyes. “Why did you get suspended at your last school?” Flyzik sits on the couch beside me and puts a comforting hand on my back. So you start to listen.

“This guy named Lee was trying to make false accusations towards me because Im gay. I tried to ignore it until he said that I check all the guys out at school. I got mad and hit him a few times.”

“Did you tell your foster parents that?”

“Yes.”

“What did they say about it?”

“They didn’t want to hear it. They didn’t like me to begin with. I was just an extra government paycheck to them,” I explained.

I felt Flyzik tense from beside me. I looked over at him and he gave me a small smile. “You’ve had it rough, huh?”

“It could’ve been better,” I mumble. You said you cried a thousand times.

“I can promise you that you wont feel unwelcome here. To be honest with you, I was pretty excited to know I was getting another kid. Everyone’s got a different story and it’s fun to get to hear them, even the sad ones,” he says, putting an arm around my shoulder and giving me an awkward side hug.

“Thanks, Flyzik,” I whisper as I hug him back.

Rian and Zack walked through the door as Flyzik released me from his grip. He gets up and walks into the kitchen. “Hey Jack! I heard you hit some dude in the face with a book!” Zack exclaims, sitting on the armrest beside me.

“Yeah, I did,” I nodded.

A huge smile spread across his face. “My foster brother kicked someone’s ass on the first day of school. That’s awesome,” he looks over at Rian, “don’t you think?”

“Totally,” Rian smirks at me before giving me a high five.

“Zack, watch your mouth. I’ll make you eat soap,” Flyzik warns as he comes back to the living room.

“Speaking of eating, do we have any food?” Rian asks, heading towards the kitchen.

“We have leftover pizza from last night,” Flyzik explains.

Zack gets off the couch and goes into the kitchen, probably to eat the pizza. Rian comes back with two pieces in his hand and gives me one. “Thanks, man,” I say before I take a bite.

“No problemo,” he replies as he sits down on the love seat across the room.

That makes me feel a lot better. Haha and thank you for being so understanding. I'll post a link to my new story as soon as we get chapters 6 and 7 ready. We are trying to get a good bit written so updates can be more frequent. If you guys like this crappy little story you will LOVE Murder In The First. I'm so excited I literally can't even.
