Something's Gotta Give

Peace Talks

I didn't speak to Alex for a full week. I only took my pictures and talked with the rest of the guys. After my confrontation with him, Alex wore a frown anytime I was around. I knew he was feeling guilty, and I couldn't bear to look at him because I'd start to feel bad for him. But this was his fault. He's the one that hurt my feelings and ignored my existence for far too long.

"Okay that's it," Rian groaned as he noticed that Alex and I had not looked at each other the entire time I was taking pictures of the guys, "You two need to just get over the past and make up. We can't be messengers for you or have hangouts together where you guys won't even look at each other."

"She'll just yell at me," Alex protested, "Why should I even try?"

"I only yelled at you because you deserved it," I snapped at him, "You turned into a coward and a whiny bitch."

"See," Alex held out his arms in protest, "Why try when I know what will happen."

"Enough," we all turned to Zack, "I am sick and tired of this. You guys are best friends. You're also grown adults. Stop acting like a pair of punk kids and face the problem. I'm not about to spend tour keeping you guys from killing each other."

"Alex," I looked at him, "Dressing room. Now."

I marched off to the band's dressing room to get away from the others to talk with Alex. Zack had a valid point. Why dwell on what happened when we could fix of friendship. I wouldn't have been so bent out of shape if I didn't still care. Alex is like my brother and I needed him back in my life. It's been far too long.

"Alright we're alone," Alex sighed as he closed the door behind him, "Let's talk."

"Did Lisa make you ignore me," I asked him, "I hold nothing against her, but I need to know. I also hold nothing against you either. I just want the truth."

"Yes," Alex replied in a small voice, one he hadn't used around me since he lost his brother, "She knew how I felt about you. She felt threatened by it."

"I don't understand," I told him.

"I loved you," he confessed, "But from neglecting you, I stopped loving you so much. You're like a sister me, not a crush."

I was at a loss for words at his confession. He loved me. And I loved him until I met Tyler. Now it made sense as to why he had cut ties with me. He did it to save his relationship with Lisa. And now he was happy with her, happy with the life he has now with her. I felt like complete shit for hating him.

"Alex," I whispered, my voice on the verge of cracking as tears form in my eyes, "I don't know what to say. I'm sorry I was so angry with you. I thought you abandoned me because you were too cool for me."

"You're cooled than me," he chuckled lightly, "Aideen, if I could go back in time and fix everything I would. You will always be my best friend and the first friend I ever had here in the States. I was so stupid, the way I handled everything."

"How are you and Lisa anyway," I asked him, "Since we haven't talked in so long."

"I proposed to her," he replied, "We haven't set a date yet, but I'm going to marry her. She makes me happy. I do the same for her. I told her I wanted you to be in the wedding. She knew that you'd be mad at me, but she agreed to have you in the ceremony. She never hated you, she just was scared. She knew how close we were."

"Alex I would be honored to be in your wedding," I smiled and hugged him. Alex was still for a second, but he wrapped his arms around me, holding me like a brother would with his little sister.

"Thank you," he smiled as he pulled away from me, "Now I should tell you something else too."

"And what's that," I asked him.

"I knew about you and Tyler," he replied, "I actually helped Jack and Michael hook you guys up. I knew Tyler would make you happy."

"Thank you Alex," I smiled at him.

"So are we good," he asked.

"Yes we're good," I told him, "Just know I'm taking you out sometime for drinks."

"I figured you would," he laughed, "But let's wait until we're back in Baltimore."

"Why then," I asked him.

"You'll see," he replied with a smirk.
