Zack has been texting me constantly lately. Over the past couple months he has been so attentive, even when he is half way across the world. In fact this is the most attentive I think that man has ever been towards me.
“How you feeling today sweets?”
“I feel like a whale. I have no clothes. I think I should just hide in a cave,” I whine in reply
“Aww sweetheart only 8 more weeks and then he will be here.” You can tell he is laughing in his head at my complaints.
“8 weeks too long,” I huff as I sit down on the couch. Today was an extra long day at work.
“You coming to the show this weekend?” he asks in a hopeful voice.
“I don’t know. Don’t really want to be seen -”
“Come on gorgeous I want to see you… and my baby”
“I’ll think about it.”
“Please Cal.” Now he is begging. This man is killing me.
“Fine Zachary. Better sneak me in the back. I do not need any of your fan girls flipping out when seeing me.”
“Deal. I will see you at 5 on Friday.”

I decide to get off work early Friday just to get myself prepared to see all of my ex’s friends and family. It probably doesn’t help that I am super swollen and the baby is kicking my internal organs like crazy today. After I get home and get in better concert going clothing I decide to text Zack and let him know I am going to be there early.
Hey, I am on my way. Can you get me in?
He texts back right away.
Yeah :) So excited. See you soon beautiful For some reason every time he calls me beautiful it is as if he is saying it for the first time and I get butterflies all over again,
I make my way across town and park at the venue. I am so nervous as I get out of my car that I feel like puking. When I look up I see him waving me over to the bus area with a grin.
Ugh, that is the grin that kills me every time.
“Hey you,” he says
“Hi,” I answer back shyly
He reaches his hand out to my belly and says, “hey bud. You taking care of your mom for me?” Then the baby kicks.
“He must like your voice. He was calm the whole way here.”
Zack just smiles and we walk back to the bus area.
Once Jack see me he comes running, “Cali I missed you,” he says as he squeezes me as much as he can with a huge belly in between us. “You look great Cal.”
“Thanks.”
After I say hi to everyone Zack grabs my hand and pulls me to the back of the bus and shuts the partition.
“So…”
“So…” I reply
“Thanks for coming Cal.”
“Yeah no problem. May be the last time for a while that I can see a show so might as well take advantage of it,” I say with a smile.
After talking for about an hour I finally ask Zack, “can you show me to the food. This baby may kill me if I don’t eat soon.”
“Oh yeah of course.”
We walk to the food area and talk until he has to go to meet and greets about an hour before the show.

I have to admit the concert was a lot more fun than I remember it being. Lisa and I jammed probably harder than all of the audience combined. But I guess that isn’t anything new.
After the concert I met back up with everyone and hung out for a little longer. I could tell Zack wanted to be alone with me so eventually after everyone was getting trashed I suggested we go back to my condo.
“Hey, you wanna go hang out at my place?” I ask.
“YES! I would love to,” he replies a little too excitedly.
The drive to my place was fairly quiet. In fact it was so quiet that I am pretty sure Zack fell asleep for a good 15 minutes.
“Wake up,” I say as I hit him after I park.
“Did I fall asleep?” he asks.
“Yes. Get up. I’ll get you some water to sober up then we can go sit on the porch. The baby is not going to let me go to sleep anytime soon anyway.”
We go outside and just stare at the sky. Then he puts his arm around my shoulders.
I look at him.
“Come here Cal,” he says with a smirk.
I just let it happen and I lean over onto him. His face is so happy when I look up.
“Zack?”
“Hmm?”
“What are we going to do?”
“We are just going to let everything happen beautiful,” he replies.
I must say that answer confused me but I am definitely still content in his arms. Maybe getting pregnant is what we needed to settle down and be with one another.
