Enough to Keep Me Pressing
You walk into the coffee shop and you see your date waiting for you in the back corner. You go up to the counter and order something to drink and go and to the table to wait for the barista to make it.
“I’m glad you made it _____,” he smiles warmly at you as you greet him with a soft kiss.
“I wasn’t going to miss you passing through for the world Alex,” you reply.
“The tour will be over soon and we’ll be able to spend more time together before I head out again,” Alex smiled as he looked into your eyes with his loving chocolate browns.
Your order was called and you leave Alex for a moment to get your drink and you join him again, but this time with your chair next to him. Once you sit back down again, you lean your head on Alex’s shoulder and he leans his head on yours.
“How about we go to the place we met, ____,” Alex offered up.
“Sure, I’d love to,” you agree with him and he leads you out of the coffee shop and out into the city.
You both arrive at the park where you first met when you played a cover of Coffee Shop Soundtrack on your guitar while he was in town. In that moment, you both fell in love at first sight and began dating. That was nine months ago and you and Alex have a bond that is so strong, distance has not weakened it.
“There’s a reason I asked you here, _____,” Alex started.
“And what was that,” you replied, wanting to know what he had planned for you.
“I wanted to tell you that I love you more than anything in the world. You make my world continue to spin, you allow me to smile every day just by thinking your name. I can never imagine my life without you and I want to give you this,” Alex opens a little felt box that holds a ring that has two heart cut birthstones, tanzanite for him and **** for you, “It’s a promise ring that I will never break your heart and I will always be there to catch you when you fall and help dust the dirt of and help you climb back up again. I love you so much ____, and I want you to always know that.”
“Alex,” you blush brightly as he slides the ring on your finger, taking notice to how well it fits on your right ring finger, “It’s so beautiful. I love it. Thank you so much. I love you too, so very much.”
Alex takes up this chance to cup the side of your neck gently and pulls you in for a soft, loving kiss. One of the kisses that makes time stand still and you feel every part of your partner’s soul love you in return for the love you show them.
“I could kiss you forever, but I’d die from lack of oxygen,” Alex breathes when you part.
“We can always kiss each other over and over again,” you smirk and he kisses you again.
A couple weeks later, Alex comes home from touring, you find yourself so relieved. He left last time after you both had morning after breakfast together and you had noticed that recently, you’re late for your cycle. You were in the bathroom, waiting for the test to develop. Once it did, your jaw drops to the floor and flies back up.
“____, where are you babe,” Alex calls once he gets upstairs.
“Bathroom,” you reply.
“____, is everything alright,” he asked when he saw you were paler than a sheet.
“It’s positive,” you show him the test and his eyes light up instantly.
“We’re going to have a family. This is wonderful, ____,” he cheers as he kisses you deeply.
“Are you ready for this, Alex? I mean you might be away on tour when the baby comes, and I’d be alone,” you say, skeptical about becoming a mother. You want this, don’t be silly, but you aren’t sure the timing is right.
“I am ready, ____, I have a special surprise planned tonight,” he smiled, “It’s my way of celebrating being home for a week or so and to celebrate us having a baby.”
“If you insist,” you reply and start to plan out what to wear for tonight.
Alex pulled out all the stops but taking you to the restaurant you had gone on your first date together not far from the park. After you had the same meal you had shared that first night, Alex took you to the coffee shop that you both have frequented for daytime dates to get a little pastry before Alex took you to the park.
“Why are we at the park,” you ask him.
“This was where I laid eyes on the most beautiful girl in the world. The future mother to my child,” he stopped walking when you both stood under the streetlight that you stood under when you both had met and went down on one knee, “And hopefully the place where you say yes to being the Wendy to my Peter and becoming my wife; the future Mrs. Gaskarth.”
Alex pulls out a black felt box and reveals white gold ring with a single princess cut diamond. It was a simple ring for a girl that was all he need in the world.
“Alex, you have out done yourself. My answer is 1000 times yes,” you squeal with joy as he slides the ring onto your finger.
“All of this started when I met you in the park while you played one of my songs,” Alex started.
“And I agreed to coffee at the nearby coffee shop that sparked the fire,” you continued.
“That led to me having the most beautiful girl become my fiancée and the mother to my child,” Alex finished.
You and Alex have a simple wedding after the tour that followed the engagement. Only the band and crew we invited with yours and Alex’s close family were invited. Soon after, you and Alex welcomed your healthy baby boy, Thomas Alexander into the world. You, Alex, and little Tom lived a happy life, that all started with a park, a song, and a coffee shop.
