The Promise

Alex's p.o.v.

"Katy, this is going to be so cool! We can finally have a child together! A child. Our own!" I yelled in excitement, much like a child at Christmas. She rolled her eyes at me before a smile appeared on her face.

"Yes, Alex, a child." She laughed, but something seemed off. I pouted at her and wrapped my arms around her small waist.

"What's wrong, don't you want to do this?" I asked with a frown, hoping that she did want to do this. We were young, but I wanted to have a child so desperately. I knew I couldn't do anything with my life as I was talentless and I didn't want a job, anyway, so I felt like I was ready for a child. And I am ready for a child. I've thought this through and I've already made up my mind.

Katy turned around to face me.

"Of course I do." She smiled at me, quickly kissing me on the lips. Her voice sounded kinda off, but maybe that was just me.

"Mm, well I'm going to bed, are you coming?" I asked, and she nodded. We went upstairs and fell asleep, although it was hard for me as I was so excited for tomorrow.

I woke up on a bright Friday morning around about 7am. Of course the routine of waking up at seven has still stuck with me. I didn't mind it, though, as it meant it was quiet and I could do what I wanted for awhile.

I get out of bed and put some baggy trousers on and a random t-shirt I found.

I made some coffee and sat down in the living room, putting Adventure Time on.

Yes, I'm still myself and I haven't matured that much. But I'm comfortable with who I am.

Katy didn't really like my childish attitude, but she still agreed to marry me.

A couple of hours later and I was in my room getting changed. I was so excited about adopting, I was jumping as I got changed.

"Katy, are you ready?!" I yelled, a massive grin on my face. Dammit, I was so excited.

I walked into the living room and found Katy putting on her high heels.

"Nearly." She smiled, placing her last shoe on. She got up and I nearly squealed like a girl, but I decided to keep it in.

"Alex," she had a serious tone to her voice as she walked up to me, "remember that this is a big responsibility. For the both of us." She reminded, her small hand reaching for mine. I nodded at her as I was completely sure I am ready for this.

"Yeah." I sighed happily and intertwined my fingers with hers.

I grabbed the car keys and Katy grabbed her bag. We went out to the car and I even suggested that Katy should drive or I'll end up crashing from how excited I am.

She took the offer, anyway, while I stared out the window.

I watched as the scenery outside moved fast. I was always interested in how everything moves fast at the side window and everything moves slow in the front window. I'm such a weirdo.

"Are we nearly there?" I ask impatiently, biting down on my bottom lip, hands in my lap. I heard a sigh beside me.

"Alex, you know we're not there yet." She sounded almost fed up and I took that as cue not to annoy her anymore. But could she at least be a little more enthusiastic? It's almost like she doesn't want a child with me.

"Oh... Well I'm turning the radio on." I mumbled, reaching over and fiddling with the buttons on the radio.

I let out a sigh and rested my head back against the chair with my eyes closed, relaxing myself as I was both happy and nervous.

"Alex... God dammit, Lex."

I jolted awake, not even remembering falling asleep, as a hand shook my shoulder. My blurry eyes found their way to Katy and I relaxed a little and closed my eyes again.

"Alex! Get up! We're here, you lazy shit." I heard her groan. I smiled to myself and opened my eyes.

I unbuckled my seatbelt and got out the car, yawning and stretching as I did.

"God, you're so embarrassing." Katy gave me an annoyed look and I pouted as she walked in front of me.

"What's up with you?" I asked as I caught up with her. She shook her head and I pouted more, but decided to leave the questions.

As we got closer to what I assume was the care home, I read the sign of the place.

Hollywood's Care Home

Hm. Very original. I laughed at myself.

Why does this place sound so familiar?

I never booked an appointment for adopting, it was Katy, so I didn't really know what care home we were going to.

It sounded oddly familiar, though, but I just couldn't work out why.

We got to the entrance and entered. A women at the desk greeted us with a huge, white smile. We walked over to her and I let Katy do all the talking.

"Yes, I'll send someone down now." She showed her pearly teeth and walked over to the phone. I grabbed my fiancee's hand and intertwined our fingers. She looked at me and gave me a short smile. I wanted to question what was wrong, but I decided to save it for when we got home.

The pretty blonde came back up to us, the same smile on her face.

"A women named Cass will be here in the minute. You can take a seat if you like?" She suggested, pointing at the blue chairs behind us.

"Thank you." Katy said, and I nodded. We went over to the soft chairs and sat down.

I couldn't help the smile that was on my face. This is the most I've been excited since I saw Blink-182 with Katy a couple months back.

I wait impatiently in the chair while Katy looked laid back. I didn't see how when we were in the home of our possible child that we always wanted. I'm pretty sure I'll find the little girl I've always wanted because something about this place told me that it was good.

After a while of waiting, the reception doors open and a tall women wearing grey came through.

"Alex and Katy?" She asked and we nodded, getting up. We went over to her and she introduced herself and we did the same.

"Would you like to follow me?" She questioned. We of course nodded and followed her out the reception and stepped foot into the actual home. It was really nice and looked after.

We entered a little office that I assumed was hers. She gestured us to sit.

"So, you're looking for a little girl?"

I nodded and she smiled.

"Well, a man will be coming shortly to show you around." She informed, a nice smile on her face.

We sat and talked about the care home, our lifestyle at home (for certain purposes) and other things. We laughed a few times and I really liked Cass; she's easy to get along with.

About ten minutes later, a knock came at the door.

"Come in, Jack!" Cass shouted and my eyes stayed locked on the door, waiting for the person named Jack to come in.

The door opened and the man walked in.

The first thing I noticed seemed to be how tight his jeans were on his legs. Then I noticed his blink shirt that made me really happy because this man had a good music taste.

It was when I looked at his face that I seemed to freeze and I stopped breathing.

Something about them chocolate brown eyes and his big nose seemed familiar: like I've been looking at them all my life, almost.

And them lips, they made mine tingle slightly just by looking at them.

Who is this man and why is he making me feel this way?

Why the hell does he look so familiar?
