Let It Roll
Chapter 6
"So, what's been going on?" She asks me concerned. What I really love about her is that I've only had her since I was 12, since I lived in a different state as a child and even still she seems to show the proper amount of care for me.
"I'm not sure. I was fine and suddenly this week I was feeling a little off, but had no symptoms till Wednesday afternoon, which is when I started having my issues with vomiting." I tell her. I watch as she writes down what I said to her, trying hard not to get sick while I'm in here.
"Are you sexually active?" She asks me.
"Nope." I say to her. That's when it hits me. I did have sex with Alex a month ago, what if I'm pregnant? Oh God, please don't let that be the case. Who am I kidding? This has to be something else.
"Mrs. Reid, can I talk to Megan in private for a minute?" My Dr. asks my mom. That's when I begin to feel my stomach wrench up. I knew that she was going to try and talk to me more about sex and pregnancy, though I really like to think that she won't.
"I just want to ask you again, now that your mother's out of the room." She tells me. "Are you sexually active? I thought maybe you're just trying to keep it from your mom. Though I'd hope not."
"Ok, I'm not currently sexually active." I tell her honestly. "But, I did have sex once about a month ago. You're right though, my mom doesn't know, so thank you for making it private."
"Do you think it's possible that you're pregnant?" She asks me.
"I guess it could be." I answer nervously. "I'd like to think not, but I guess wouldn't hurt to see." She then hands me a pregancy test and looks at me.
"When you head to the bathroom, tell your mom she can come back in." She says to me. "I'll do my best to keep it a secret. Good luck." I walk to my bathroom and feel myself getting really nauseous. This time it's not because I have to puke. This is all in my nerves. When I get into the bathroom, I use the pregnancy test as fast as possible. After I finish up, I sit it on the sink and begin to wash my hands. After I dry them off, I look at the test before tossing it out. As soon as I see the results, my heart drops. There is not 1 but 2 lines on this test. I throw it into trash can as hard as I can doing everything not to cry. I walk back into the room which my doctor and mother are waiting for me. As I walk in, I nod to my doctor, giving her the hint that it was positive. Knowing that I am trying to keep it secret, we have my mom under the illusion I was just going to the bathroom for the sake of it.
"Well, it looks like she might just have the respiratory flu." The doctor lies. She tells me what I "need to do" before sending us home. The entire car ride home was extremely silent. I felt like my heart was about to explode. As soon as we get home I run to my room, shut my door and slam my body onto my bed. Instantly, I feel myself burst into tears. There's no way I'm going to be able to keep what happened with Alex and I a secret now. I need to talk to someone about this. That's when I decide to text Ellen and tell her the news, knowing she'll be able to keep it between her and I.
*Hey, I need to tell you something and you need to keep it between us ok? You're not going to believe it.* After I send it to her I realize that I haven't seen her since the concert. I really don't see any of the few friends I have since I switched schools recently.
*Sure, you know I'll keep it secret. What's up?*
*I'm pregnant :(*
*Really?! Who's the dad?! Don't be sad girlie, you can make it work, I know you can.* As positive as she sounds, I know it won't last very long when she finds out who did it. All I can hope is that she takes it well and that I don't lose one of my only friends over this.
