ALEX'S POV

Jack lead me up a path and to what I assumed was his house. Ivy climbed one side and a faint glow emmited from behind the drawn curtains. He took hold of my waist and pulled me in, his big eyes gazing into mine.

'I never expected today to end like this,' he began, looking down as he bit his lips.

'Me neither,' I replied softly.

He kissed me on the forehead and reluctantly made his way up the thin path to his door. 'Bye, Alex.' He mumbled, trying to hold back a big grin.

JACK'S POV

I woke up in my room, the beam of sunlight glorifying every individual speck of dust that hung in the air. I didn't let out my routine groan but instead willingly hopped out of bed and began getting ready. Once prepared, I put in my earphones and worked my way through a large bowl of Cookie Crisp.

The walk to school seemed endless. On one hand I was terrified due to the fact that I had no idea where I stood with Alex, but on the other I just wanted to see his face. The handsome face I had the pleasure to kiss the night before, a memory I'd never forget.

My thoughts were interrupted by Nathan; 'Oh, morning faggot.' he hissed, yanking my left earphone out. Not wanting any trouble, I put it back in and walked around him. Surprisingly enough, he made no further attempt to beat me up, thank goodness.

I entered the school building and my eyes instantly met Alex's, his quickly trailing away. I sighed a little, figuring that maybe he wasn't that into me at all. As the day continued, the awkward eye contact persisted.

By the time lunch had came around I was stomping around like a big kid. I had to tell Maggie what was going on, it was driving me crazy.

I looked over to Alex's table to instantly find my self sick at what I was seeing. A girl called Lucy from my Maths class was sitting on his lap, her patchy orange hands running through his light brown hair. I clenched my jaw and forced my self to keep watching. She rubbed her nose against his before sliding off his lap and on to the adjacent seat. The whole group seemed to be laughing furiously about something, please don't be me.

'Jack?'

'Sorry. I, um, Maggie...'

'What's up? You're being weird.' she asked, taking a bite of her sandwich whilst indicating for me to elaborate with her free hand.

'Look, there's something I haven't told you. If you don't like what you hear, then fine. I only want you to promise one thing, that you won't tell anyone.' I received a reassuring nod before carrying on. 'I-I am, uh, gay.'

'Thank god! I wondered why you never hit on me, I was beginning to think I was revolting.' she giggled, a genuine smile on her face. Phew.

'Thanks for being so cool,' I replied with the same expression. Taking a bite of my baguette, I glanced back over to the table again. Maggie's eyes followed mine and - with a little thought - she soon figured out exactly why I was so sad.

'Alex?' she questioned, swallowing her last bite. 'He's not gay, Jack.'

'I thought that too, but-' I couldn't tell her the events of last night, they felt like a secret I swore to keep. In desperation to retain it, I lied. 'He's just cute.' I make a cheeky wink at her which sent her into a little laughing fit. Once it subside, the conversation turned to the canteen 'food'.

ALEX'S POV

'Let's go out side, baby.' said Lucy, squeezing my thigh. I felt sick at her touch, I didn't want her oddly coloured hands on me, not in the slightest.

We all stood up and started exiting the room. I sneakily took a glance at Jack who was laughing with Maggie as he made gestures to the food on front of him.

'Dude, she wants you. You gonna?..' Evan whispered in my ear.

'Nah.'

'But, look at her! I'd kill for Kim to have an ass like that,' he said biting his lip, looking at the two girls side by side. I shrugged my shoulders, the thought of Jack and last night at the forefront of my mind. Again, I came to the conclusion I couldn't just walk away from him. What is this boy doing to me? I said I was going back to buy some water and retraced my steps to the large hall full of pupils. I located Jack and Maggie and hesitantly made my way to their table, hands buried in my pockets.

'Hi, can I sit?'

Jack looked up with nervous eyes, 'Sure.'

'So, Alex, what brings you to our table?' asks Maggie, confused at his arrival.

'I, um, wanted to talk to Jack actually,' I murmered. She picked up her things and mouthed to Jack 'text me' before leaving the table.

'Sorry about just coming over...' I carried on, fiddling anxiously with my thumbs.

'It's okay. I kind of thought you and Lucy-' I cut him off, the words practically coming out before I'd thought of them. 'She's just some girl, I'm not interested.'

'In her?'

'In girls.' I reply bluntly, trying to emphasise the point that I want to be with him.

Jack pulls out his phone and hands it to me. I insert my number and place it on his thigh, getting butterflies as my fingers brush his jeans slightly.

'I'll text you,' I said, standing up. He aknowledged what I said and then I left, my stomach in knots.
