Loverboy
Welcome Home
ALEX'S POV
Three days had passed since the incident and finally Jack was being released form the hospital. After they gave him one last check over he was free to go and with that, my plan was set into motion.
Before I went to pick him up I had made a surprise for him returning. I organised for Helen to go out and play Bingo so that we had the house to ourselves. I lit candles all around the house and set the table, a dinner cooking away in the background. I got all of his favourite food in and made sure I had every Home Alone ready to watch.
'I was so sick of sleeping alone,' I said, opening the car door for him.
'Sorry,' he smiles back, running his fingers through his messy hair.
I put the keys into the door and slowly turn the key. I push the door open to reveal the hallway of candles, quickly looking back at Jack to see his reaction. His eyes light up and he blushes as we enter, the vast amount of candles lit becoming visible. I guide him through to the kitchen and sit him down across from me.
'Alex, you didn't have to...' he trails off, inhailing the wonderful smell coming from the stove. I catch his eyes and gesture towards a little box that is inbetween his knife and fork.
'Open it,' I bit my lip, this was it. I felt dizzy - sick and better than ever all at once. I carefully watch his eyes as he removes the lid of the little white box. A crack appears in his lips as he stares down at the contents.
'Jack Bassam Barakat,' I begin, getting off the chair I was sitting on the edge of and on to one knee. 'I love you with all my heart and I never want to lose you. You drive me insane with those big brown eyes and that sexy hair of yours. Whenever I can't see or feel you, I worry like crazy. I want to grow old with you. Will you let me? Will y- you marry me?'
A tear rolls down Jack's red cheeks: 'Yes! Yes, yes, yes!' he exclaims, pulling the ring out of the box. He slides it off the paper I'd put it on and hands it to me, I slip it on to his finger and stare at how perfect it looks.
'Look at the paper,' I add.
He picked up the curled up piece of paper and unraveled it in his shaky hands. He put one hand over his gaping mouth as he read it: 'Maryland Cinema, 17th of the 5th, 2012. That was the day...' he began, I interrupted him with a passionate kiss. That was the most important day of my life and although I didn't know why the time, I kept that cinema ticket. Best gut feeling ever.
