It's Such A Shame That We Play Strangers

Jack and I looked to each other, frowning in confusion as we both picked up our books and walked to the door, as all the eyes of our class mates followed us. We walked out the door and began our walk down the hallways to the office.

‘Alex, what did we do wrong? I don’t understand.’ Jack started to panic. The fear in his eyes made me anxious too.

‘Jack, we did nothing wrong. If there is, I’m sure it was Vic complaining about us.’ I replied. This left a somewhat awkward silence between us and I was afraid that this little incident was going to stop Jack from talking to me again.

We walked into the office and approached the office desk, seeing Josie sitting on the other side of the desk, writing away on some pieces of paper. I cleared my throat and she looked up.

‘Oh hello boys, if you just want to go into Mr Stevens office now, thank you.’ She said, before looking down at her desk again.

I gave Jack a reassuring look before walking the lead into the room first. I walked in as Mr Stevens looked up and pointed to the two seat in front of him. I sat down and turned to see Jack slowly walking into the room with his head down, looking petrified as what was about to happen.

‘Thank you boys for coming into my office. I heard about the incident between you two and Mr Fuentes, his brother and Mr Perry in your math class this morning. I just wanted to understand your point of view in this.’ Mr Stevens stated.

‘Well, you see sir, there was a party in one of the dorm rooms last night and everyone attended, including Jack and I. Jack was later to come but I was there with Vic himself, until something he said, really annoyed me and it started a fight.’ I said.

‘What did Mr Fuentes exactly say last night?’ He questioned.

‘Vic mentioned that Jack was so mentally broken because of what happened to Tyler that if you were smart enough that you could use him for anything. Vic had mentioned to me that he was also a part of the reason as to why Tyler did what he did to Jack because, he saw how weak he was. Vic admitted that he had felt like he was in love with Jack when Tyler and Jack were dating and he was really jealous. He started to say that Jack was cheating and told him that the only way to get it through to Jack is to bet him. Vic knew that this was happening so he could come to the rescue for Jack. But then, Tyler couldn’t take what he was doing to Jack anymore, so he killed himself. Setting him free for the harsh world which was writing by Vic. Last night, I turned around and hit Vic seeing as I didn’t want anyone to hurt Jack like that and that this was the last time Jack was going to be attacked under my watch. Then when Vic entered our classroom this morning, I was ready to stop Vic but Jack did, and said that he never wanted me to be hurt. And yes sir, we are dating. I’m sorry but that’s just how it is.’ I said, which had Jack in tears and Mr Stevens in anger.

‘This has just opened my eyes up more than you could have imagined. Mr Fuentes is in serious trouble for what he has admitted to you, but I honestly can’t prove it or take your word on this. And you must know, that I don’t mind that you are dating, as long as you keep it suitable within the class room, due to very homophobic teachers and students. What you do in your room in your spare time is up to you. Please, just be careful.’ Mr Stevens said, making me lean over to Jack and take him hand.

Jack looked up and squeezed my hand, making me smile wider, with his smile widening too.
‘Mr Stevens, I want to thank you for finally allowing someone to stay in my room, as much as I told you not too. Because, I feel I have benefited from it extremely and I think it’s allowed Alex to grow from it too. Is that all you wanted to see us for sir?’ Jack said than questioned.
‘That is all, feel free to come into the office if anyone is giving you trouble or grief. I will do my best to stop what I can.’ Mr Stevens said.

‘Thank you sir.’ Jack and I said before standing up and leaving the room. We walked down the hallway to the door before stopping at the door. I looked over to Josie and smiled, giving her a wave before leaving the office.

‘Come now, let’s go to our next class.’ I said, taking Jacks hand and guiding him away to our next class as he giggled like a little girl behind me, leaving me with a smile on my face.

Once reaching the class, everyone who was in the class, eyed Jack and I as we walked to our seats. They all continued to look till the teacher asked for people’s attention. I looked over to Jack and smiled softly as he looked down at the desk.

This was now a little confronting seeing as everyone was looking at me and him as if we were either devils or we had something stuck in our teeth. It was nerve racking and I didn’t want to really be here. I was excited for the end of the day, so I can sit in the corner of my bed and die of something I don’t really know called why.
