Stupid and Fearless

Jealousy

I wake up to Alex jumping on top of me.

“WAKE UP BABE. WE’RE HEEEEEEREEEE.” I look up to see a giant grin on his face. His smile is absolutely contagious.

“Okaaaaay.” I groan, laughing. I try to push him off, but he lays all of his body weight on top of me. “Aleeexx!”

“Fine.” He chuckles, kissing my forehead on his way up. “But seriously let’s get off of this damn bus.”

He climbs off and I follow him down. Stretching, I glance down at myself. Still wearing sweats and a tank.

“Where are we going exactly?” I ask him as I throw my hair into a pony tail.

“Out and about. What you’re wearing is fine, for now. We’re gonna come back in an hour or so to change for the concert.”

I shrug my shoulders, slip on my Tom’s, and follow Alex off of the bus. I squint immediately at the bright sunlight. Alex laughs at me and snakes his arm around my waist. We walk behind the guys who are hooting and hollering, skipping around so happy. I smile at their happiness, and am immediately reminded of their concert I went to. I feel the same, loving, family-type vibe that I did that night. I just realized at this very moment that I have a new family. I relax more into Alex’s body, smiling softly at the idea of my new family. Alex leans down and kisses the top of my head lightly.

We approach a bar and walk in. Looking around, I see it is fairly empty with a few pool tables. I glance at Jack who is already grinning at me, and tosses a wink my way. I laugh and Alex looks at me.

“What’s so funny?” He asks me.

“Would you want to play some pool babe?” I smile at him. “Me and Jack against you and whoever.”

“Why do I feel like I’m going to regret this?” Alex chuckles as he grabs a pool stick from the wall.

Jack high fives me and we walk to the pool table, grabbing our sticks. Rian decides to join Alex, while Zach orders beers for all of us. Alex let’s me break and immediately, I sink a solid.

“Shit.” I hear Alex mumble.

I grin and glance at Jack who looks excited as hell. I sink another solid, and line one up pretty perfectly. Alex shakes his head slowly, staring at the pool table. He shoots and misses one.

Jack saunters up to the table, clearly ready to kick some ass. He hits the cue ball, missing literally every ball on the table. I crack up and he scowls at me.

“Not all of us can be as gifted as you.” He grumbles.

I rest my head on his shoulder, showing him I was only kidding. He loosens up and we watch as Rian sinks a shot. He misses the next and gestures for me to go.

6 minutes pass by, and there is only the eight ball and three stripes left. It’s my shot, and all I have to do is get rid of that damn eight ball.

“Right corner pocket.” I call it, glancing at the table to make sure.

I slowly retract my arm back, and quickly hit the cue ball, making it hit the side of the eight ball. The ball shoots straight into the right pocket, just like I called it.

“HELL YES.” Jack jumps and high fives me.

I giggle and glance at Alex, who is still staring at the pool table. I skip over to him and sit on the edge of the pool table in front of him. He finally looks at me and shakes his head.

“What the fuck just happened.” He mumbles. “I always win. Always. Do you realize what you just did? Jack is never going to let us live this down.”

“Cheer up babe, it’s just a game.” I frown, kissing him lightly.

Alex kisses me back but walks away, grumbling under his breath. Before I can hop off of the table, Jack is in front of me.

“What’s with Mr. Grumpy Pants?” Jack asks me, staring at me with his chocolate brown eyes.

“He’s pissed because we won.” I roll my eyes, a little upset that he is taking this so seriously. It’s a pool game, for Christ’s sake.

“Whatever. Do you want me to grab you another beer?”

“Nah, after last time? I think I’ll just pass.” I laugh sheepishly.

“Right on.” Jack smiles at me and walks away.

I hop off of the pool table and walk over to Alex. He’s talking to Zach and Rian so I stand to the side silently. Finally, Zach acknowledges me.

“Kick-ass game princess.” He high fives me, shortening Alex’s usual nickname for me. “You gotta alternate partners though, we all need to win once in a while.”

“For sure.” I grin at him. Alex is still kind of quiet next to me. “Alex, can I talk to you outside for a sec?”

He shoves his hands in his pockets and nods. I lead the way and shudder as the temperature changes from inside the bar, to outside. Alex leans up against a wall and stares down at the concrete.

“What is going on?” I ask Alex. “I know you well enough to know that this isn’t just about losing a game. You’ve been a little weird.”

“Just the game.” He mumbles staring at the floor.

“Liar.” I tilt his chin up, forcing him to make eye contact with me. His eyes soften and fill with sadness. “Alex, talk to me please.”

“You really want to know?” He asks me. I nod my head and he proceeds. “I feel like you and Jack have a thing or will have a thing or have a thing developing. I see the way he looks like you Diana, he doesn’t see you as a friend. Who could blame him though…I still don’t see how I got you. I feel like I’m gonna lose you. Last thing I need is losing you to my best friend.”

“Alex stop. Please.” I murmur looking into his eyes. “You are the only man in my life. I don’t want anyone else besides you. Jack is like a brother to me. I really doubt Jack thinks of me more than a friend. He can see me however he wants, but he is nothing compared to you. Nothing.”

“Okay. I’m sorry baby.” Alex smiles softly and leans in to kiss me.

I lean on my tippy toes and kiss Alex on the lips. I wrap my arms around his neck and melt into his body. How can he think I would want anyone else in my life?

“Now let’s go back inside, and show those guys whose girl I am.” I grin at him, leaning my forehead against his.

Alex scoops me up and throws me on his back, piggy-back style. I laugh as he carries me back into the bar. I kiss the side of his neck and glance up, just in time to catch Jack frown at our PDA. He looks a little miffed and stares at the ground.

Shit. Maybe Alex was right…

Notes

Hey everyone! Sorry for the shitty(ish) chapter. I've been in Texas for the past 8 days. Got back last night and thought I should try to whip something out. Sorry for the delay :)

So I stumbled across the first installment of this and started reading. Needless to say, I'm all caught up and just finished with what you had of this second installment. This story is so cute and I really love it.
If you ever find yourself writing for it again, I will be here to read. I think these characters deserve an ending. <3 Some ideas you could work with is writing a chapter with what song exactly he chose to dedicate to her (the fact that that is where it left off is killing me) as well as maybe approaching how the fans react to their relationship. At the very beginning you brought up the fact of either keeping it hidden or putting it out there, but it was never approached again, so that may be something to approach if you continue with this, which I really hope you do. Like will the relationship still be hidden? And if so, what kind of toll would it take on them? Just a thought or idea to maybe inspire you to continue this, since it seemed like you were struggling with writer's block.
But if you don't continue, I just wanted to leave a comment letting you know I really enjoyed what you have of this. You're a really great writer. Just wanted to show you that people like me are still stumbling across this story and enjoying it. :) Once again, I will be one reader here if you ever choose to continue.
