Stupid and Fearless

Somewhere Special

“So I was thinking we could go out to dinner tonight. Somewhere nice.” Alex takes a swig of his beer sitting across from me at Moe’s.

“What’s the occasion?” I ask twirling the straw of my water around.

“Nothing really. I just want to take you somewhere nice. We haven’t had a nice date like that ever.” He shrugs simply.

“Sounds good to me.” I smile and reach across the table to intertwine our fingers. “So what do you think about me dying my hair again?”

“That’s fine with me babe. It’s totally up to you. You are beautiful no matter what. You could be bald and you would still be the most beautiful girl in the world to me.” He lifts my fingers to his lips and kisses them softly. “What color?”

“Brown again. But I think I might want darker with some reddish undertone.” I grin at him.

“Rad.” He nods.

The waiter comes with our food and we dig in. My tattoo is still stinging quite a bit, but I love the sting. It reminds me it’s there. My phone vibrates with a phone call and I set my burrito down on the plate to answer.

“Hello?” I ask.

“Hey it’s Jamie. Jack says that he wants to hang out with Alex one on one for a little so I was wondering if you can chill? Alex should be getting a call from Jack any second.” She laughs.

As if by magic, Alex’s phone ring and he answers, mumbling to Jack.

“For sure Jamie. Can you actually help me dye my hair? We can have a girls day back at the hotel room. I can buy some dye, junk food, and a movie on the way back. But Alex and I are going to dinner tonight, so I won’t be able to hang too long.” I explain in between bites.

She agrees to meet me at the hotel room and we hang up. Alex looks at me and hangs up on Jack, without even saying goodbye.

“So Jack wants to hang out. I hope you don’t mind.” He murmurs sheepishly. “I’m sorry. This was supposed to be your weekend. OUR weekend. I swear I will make it up to you.”

I reach across the table and grab his hand. “Hush. It’s totally fine baby. I like hanging with Jamie anyway. Besides, we still have our dinner right?”

He smiles and shakes his head softly. “Of course. You are too perfect. Thanks for being so understanding.”

We finish up our food and head on home. On the way, we stop at GBS to pick up dark brown hair dye and a red hair dye. We run next door and grab a bag of Cheetos, mini KitKats, and a 2 liter of Pepsi. I buy How to Train Your Dragon and pay for everything with Alex by my side. Before you know it, we are back at the hotel and letting Jack and Jamie in our room.

“Hey kiddos.” Alex hugs them.

They hug back and sit on the bed with us. I sit in Alex’s lap and Jamie sits closely with Jack. We make small talk for a few minutes before Jack claims that he and Alex need to leave. Alex shrugs his shoulders and sets me on the bed so he can stand up.

“We’ll be back in an hour or two. You guys need anything?” Jack asks while stretching as he stands.

“Nope. Just hurry back, we’ll miss you.” Jamie grins at Jack.

He winks at her and pounces on top of her. They laugh and wrestle around with each other, causing me to scoot off the bed. Alex chuckles and slips his arms around my waist.

“When you come back, I’ll look totally different. New hair.” I remind him excitedly.

“You’ll still be perfect.” He kisses my forehead softly. “I can’t wait.”

“What are you and Jack doing?” I ask suddenly.

“No fucking idea.” He laughs. “Knowing Jack, it’s something sex related.”

I roll my eyes with a smile on my face and kiss him gently. He squeezes my waist and pulls me right up against his body. We continue to kiss until we hear someone clear their throat. I turn around and Jack is towering over us.

“Get off my man.” He glares at me jokingly.

I step away, obeying Jack’s orders. I sit with Jamie on the bed and watch our boys leave. As soon as they shut the door, Jamie hops up.

“Let’s do your hair pretty girl.” She smiles and walks to the bathroom.

I grab the dyes and follow her back into the bathroom. We mix the dyes the way they are supposed to be and get everything set up. I set some music up playing from my iPhone and sit in the empty tub, back facing to Jamie. I strip my shirt off and she begins to apply the dye. After a few minutes of silence, Jamie speaks.

“So, I was thinking of telling Jack tonight.” She squeaks.

“How do you think he’ll take it?” I ask, trying not to move my head too much.

“Honestly, I think he’ll be pissed. I have a feeling I will be getting the silent treatment for a long time.” Jamie sighs.

“Just don’t even worry about it. I’ll be here for you, okay?” I remind her.

We sit in silence, allowing the music to fill the void. After about 10 minutes, she throws my hair in a shower cap.

“Okay it says to wait about 25 minutes and then we will rinse and you will be done.” Jamie helps me out of the tub.

We pop in the movie, open up the bags of food and sit on the bed side by side. As I munch out on Cheetos and Kit Kats, I think about Alex. When we are apart, I feel an ache in my heart and an emptiness in my gut. I always feel like I need to be with him and if I’m not, I don’t feel like myself.

I miss him. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
ALEX POV
“Thanks for coming with.” I smile at Jack as we walk through the crowded mall.

“No problem. Thanks for asking me to come last night. I think I might buy Jamie something too.” Jack smiles back.

“Better not be a ring like me.” I punch his shoulder gently. “She just got back.”

“Nah, I’m thinking a necklace.”

We walk into Tiffany and Co. and are immediately attacked by a sales associate.

“Hi! I’m Jennifer. What can I do for you all?” The tall, thin, blonde haired associate asks us. She looks overly excited to be helping us. Judging by her expressions and the way she gets so close to us, she’s a fan of us.

“Hey Jennifer. I’m Alex and this is Jack.” Jack waves awkwardly. “I’m here to buy a ring for my girlfriend. I’m looking for something really nice. Maybe show me some of your engagement rings?” I ask nervously.

Jack throws an arm around my shoulder heavily and gives me a noogie. “My boys growin’ up!”

“Calm down man. I’m not proposing tonight. I just want to buy her something nice. We’ve only been going out a couple of months, it’s a little early for marriage.” I admit. “But trust me, that day will be coming pretty damn soon.”

Jennifer directs us to a case full of sparkly rings. She pulls one out.

“This is the Tiffany Grace. It has a platinum band with round diamonds to compliment the princess-cut diamond. It’s pricy, but worth it.” She hands it to me and I handle it gently.

“This is beautiful. Do you have something like this, but with a circular diamond?” I ask as I hand the ring back to her.

She thinks for a moment before reaching into the case and pulling out a ring. As Jennifer hands me the ring, I know immediately that this is the ring I want. Fuck the price, fuck it all. This is Diana in a ring. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ DIANA POV

“Oh my god Jamie. My hair looks amazing!” I squeal as I look in the mirror.

My now auburn curls cascade over the front of my body full of shine. Jamie is grinning proudly from behind me in the mirror.

“You look hot. What are you wearing tonight?” She runs her fingers through my hair.

“I’m not sure really. Any suggestions?” I ask.

She looks at me for a moment and all of a sudden her eyes flash. “I know just the thing.

I follow Jamie out of my hotel room and into hers. I sit on their bed and watch as Jamie rummages through her closet.

“Perfect.” She emerges with a low cut black dress, with silver studs on the sides and shoulders. “This will look beautiful on you with your new hair. Do you have shoes for this?”

“Absolutely.” I grin and grab the dress from her. “Thank you so much. For all of this. You are amazing.”

I hug her quickly and she laughs. “No problem. Let’s go back to the room and watch the movie.

We go back to the hotel room and watch the movie for another 15 minutes before the guys come barging in, laughing. Alex glances at me and as soon as he sees me his jaw drops. His eyes look at me intensely. I realize I am still in my bra and blush.

“You look so sexy with your new hair.” He murmurs as he approaches me.

“Thank you.” I giggle as he scoops me up from the bed.

“Jack, I had fun and thanks for today. Do you mind leaving Diana and I alone? I’ll call you later tonight or something.” Alex asks him without breaking eye contact.

“We better go Jamie. I have a feeling they are about to get naked and freaky.” Jack laughs as he pulls his girl up from the bed. “Have a good night you two.”

As Jack closes the door, Alex throws me down on the bed. His lips attach to mine immediately. Our tongues immediately tangle and I grab at his hair pulling him closer to me. Alex slips his arms around my back and unclips my bra skillfully.

“Stoppp.” I groan grinning. “We have time later on tonight. Don’t forget we have plans. It’s already 7.”

“You’re right.” He sighs against my lips. “We need to get ready.”

Alex stands up and helps me up as well. Within 20 minutes, he and I are both ready. His jaw drops yet again as he sees how I look.

I’m wearing the dress that Jamie picked out for me with red heels. I have pearl earrings dangling from my lobes and created a smokey eye for my makeup. I grin at Alex who is wearing a white polo shirt and a pair of black slacks. He waltzes up to me and slips his arms around my waist.

“I am seriously dating the most beautiful girl in the world.” He murmurs and kisses me on the forehead gently. “Let’s get out of here.”

We make our way downstairs and hail a cab. Alex and I sit in the back, huddled closely together. His fingers dance across my legs and his eyes never leave my body. I rest my head on his shoulder gently and relax, beyond excited for tonight. I love having Alex all to myself.

After about 20 minutes or so of driving, we pull up to a beautiful restaurant. Alex helps me out of the cab and we make our way into the restaurant.

“Welcome to Café La Bohème. Do you have a reservation?” A woman dressed in a floor length black dress asks.

“Gaskarth. Party of two.” Alex slips his hand into mine and squeezes it gently.

She looks for his name for a moment and then nods. “Right this way sir.” She directs us through the restaurant.

We walk to the back, right corner of the restaurant to a booth. We slip in and the woman hands us a menu.

“Someone will be right by to take your drink order. Have a good evening.” She smiles softly and walks away.

Alex winks at me from across the table as he flips through the menu. We browse for a few minutes before another woman, this one much younger, comes to the table.

“Hi my name is Julia and I’ll be taking your order today.” She smiles at me and as soon as she sees Alex, her eyes widen. “And you are Alex Gaskarth, oh my god.”

Alex and I laugh and she blushes. “Nice to meet you.” He shakes her hand. “I will have a white Riesling. And Diana?” He looks at me questioningly.

“I’ll have the same.” I smile at her.

“I’ll be right back with your wine.” The waitress replies.

We continue to shift through the menu until we both settle on something. I choose some pasta dish and Alex a steak. Julia comes back with a bottle of wine and two glasses. She pours each of us a glass and sets the bottle on the table.

“Are you two ready?” She asks politely.

I glance up at Alex who nods and we place our orders. Julia grabs the menus and promises our meal will be out shortly. As she walks away, Alex slides his arms across the table and slips his hands in mine.

“You look beautiful.” He smiles softly. “The hair color really suits you.”

I blush. “Thank you. I just felt like a change. The pink and purple hair was fun, but it was more of a quick decision I made when I left John. It was like a sign of freedom. Now I’m with you and things are different. I love being with you.” I squeeze his hands gently.

“Have you ever thought about our future?” He asks suddenly.

“Quite a bit.” I admit. “I see it so clearly to be honest.”

“Let me in. I want to hear it all.” He smiles.

“I see me at our house in Baltimore. I’m sitting on the couch in front of the fireplace, waiting for you to finally come home from tour. You’ve been gone for 2 months and I’ve been waiting anxiously for you to come home. Finally, I hear the doorknob jiggle as you unlock the door and I jump up to greet you. You throw open the door, drop your bags to the floor, and scoop me up. You whisper in my ear, ‘I’ve missed you so much, my beautiful wife.’ I jump out of your arms, help you with your bags, and cuddle with you for hours in our bed.” I blush. “Corny, I know. That’s just how I see things.”

“No.” He looks at me intensely. “It’s perfect. I really hope that becomes a reality one day. I know it will.”

I grin at him and kiss his hand.

The rest of the dinner goes perfect. The food is amazing, the atmosphere was incredible. All of it was perfect. Alex pays and we take off. Just as we were supposed to turn for the hotel, the driver goes straight. I look at Alex who looks completely un-phased by this.

“Where are we going?” I ask confused.

“Somewhere special.” He smiles.

So I stumbled across the first installment of this and started reading. Needless to say, I'm all caught up and just finished with what you had of this second installment. This story is so cute and I really love it.
If you ever find yourself writing for it again, I will be here to read. I think these characters deserve an ending. <3 Some ideas you could work with is writing a chapter with what song exactly he chose to dedicate to her (the fact that that is where it left off is killing me) as well as maybe approaching how the fans react to their relationship. At the very beginning you brought up the fact of either keeping it hidden or putting it out there, but it was never approached again, so that may be something to approach if you continue with this, which I really hope you do. Like will the relationship still be hidden? And if so, what kind of toll would it take on them? Just a thought or idea to maybe inspire you to continue this, since it seemed like you were struggling with writer's block.
But if you don't continue, I just wanted to leave a comment letting you know I really enjoyed what you have of this. You're a really great writer. Just wanted to show you that people like me are still stumbling across this story and enjoying it. :) Once again, I will be one reader here if you ever choose to continue.
