*Knocks on the door.*


God. I’m so nervous. Breath.. Breath…


“Hello! I’m Kylie. Come on in!” I smile at Jack’s mom doing everything in my power to breath.
“Hello Sweetie. We’ve heard so much about you!” She hugs me, “This is May and Joe.” She gestures down.
“MOMMY.” Jack comes running out to hug his mom. Then hugs May, and plays with Joe’s hair.
“Jack! I’ve missed you so much sweetheart.” She hugs him.
“I’ve missed you too mama.”
“So, you didn’t tell me how beautiful Kylie was! How did you get this lucky!” She smiles.
I blush, as he explains to her how we met.
“Uhm, would you like something to drink?” I ask Mrs. Barakat.
“Could I have a water?”
“Sure. Thank you darlin’”
“No problem.” I smile.

I shakily walk into the kitchen to get her water. Breath.. Breath…
I walked out, “Here ya go” I say, handing her the water.

*Another knock on the door*

“LEXY! HARMONY! Merry Christmas!” I say excietedly, hugging both of them.
“Merry Christmas!” They say, hugging me back.
“Alexander!” Mrs. Barakat exclaims, walking over and hugging Alex.
“Hi Mommy!” He smiles like he’s a little boy again. It was adorable.
“And who is this lovely young lady with you today?” She smiles.
“This is my amazing girlfriend, Harmony. We met her through Kylie. They’ve been best friends since high school.” He smiles.
“Well, it’s very nice to meet you.” She smiles, and hugs Harmony.
“You too Mrs. Barakat.” Harmony says shyly.
“Where do you want these baby?” Harmony asks, as she holds her plate of cookies.
“Oh. Um.. C’mon. I’ll show you.” I say, leading into the kitchen.

“So what’s up? How’s everything with Jack’s mom? It seems like she likes you.”
‘Yeah.. Um. I honestly don’t know. She just came, I haven’t really gotten to talk to her. I’m honestly extremely nervous. I’m so worried that she’s going to hate me, or that I’m going to mess up or something. I don’t know.. I told Jack I’d stay strong for him.”
“You’’ll be fine baby.”
“I hope so, but you know how well I did with my family.”
“They don’t count. They’re a bunch of assholes. We both know that.”

“Knock, Knock.” Mrs. Barakat said.
“Hi.” I smile.
“Um. Harmony, may I talk to Kylie alone for a second?” Mrs. Barakat asked.
“Sure.” Harmony said, squeezing my hand, and then walking out.

Breath.. Breath..

“Is everything okay?” I ask quietly.
“Of course dear, I sort of overheard you and Harmony talking, and I just want you to know, you don’t have to worry about me. I don’t know what has happened in the past, but again, that’s the past, you don’t have to dwell on it. I like anyone that makes my Jack happy. And you seem to of made Alex happy on the way too, with yourslef, and your friend. I’m happy that you’re part of this family now. Okay?”
“Thank you.” I shyly smile.
“Of course, Now come here.” She smiles, hugging me.

*Knocks on the door*

“Hello! You must be the Gaskarth’s. I’m Kylie, come on in.” I smile, letting in Alex’s parents.
“Hi!” Mrs. Gaskarth says, while she comes in.
“Yayyy!” Alex yells, and runs over, hugging his parents, “Never leave me again! I missed you so much.”
“We’ve missed you too sweetie.” Mrs. Gaskarth says.
“So… Mom, Dad, this is my girlfriend Harmony.” He smiles, grabbing Harmony’s hand and pulling her forward.
“Hello! It’s so nice to meet you!” Mrs. Gaskarth says, pulling Harmony into a hug.
“Hi.” Harmony says shyly.
“She’s stunning Alex.” Mrs. Gaskarth whispers into his ear, as she went to greet the Barakat’s.

*Alex leans over to kiss Harmony on the cheek*

“Girls, come sit down and talk to all of us!” Mrs. Barakat smiles, while Jack’s on the floor playing with Joe.

“Okay.” I smile, winking at Harmony.
“So how did you meet the boys?” Mrs. Gaskarth asks us.
“I actually was playing a cover of “The Irony of Chocking on A lifesaver” At a little coffee shop, and Jack just happened to be there, and he came up to me after and talked to me, and actually gave me his number, inviting me to come to their practice the next day. Then Harmony met the guys through me, I actually ended up in the hospital, and the boys called her. An unfortunate beginning, but it all worked out.” I smiled.
“That’s awesome, so you sing?” Mrs. Barakat asked.
“Not really, I don’t have the best voice, I actually play the drums.”
“Great!” Mrs. Barajas said.
“How long have you been dating Alex, Harmony? He doesn’t tell me anything.” Asked Mrs. Gaskarth.
“Almost two months.” She smiles. “You raised an amazing boy.”
“Awe. Thank you, he is something.” Mrs. Gaskath laughs.
“Yeah. Kylie actually dated Alex first, then Jack. They’ve only been dating a month and a half.” Mrs. Barakat tells Mrs. Gaskarth.
“Yeah.. Alex and I only lasted a couple of days though, it just wasn’t meant to be.” I nervously giggle.
“Yeah. She’s mine. Always has been” Jack smiles, lying acorss Harmony and I.


I am so happy to be with this man. He’s perfect. And his Mom likes me, I think.. I just really have to try to talk to May and Joe. I want them to like me also. Alex’s mom seems a little uptight though.. I don’t know. I’m worried about Harmony and her, especially now that she knows Alex and I dated. I’m just going to do my best to watch out for her.


“So Kylie, do you have any siblings?” Mrs. Barakat asked me.
Jack squeezed my hand as I responded, “I had a brother. He was amazing, um. But he passed away almost a year ago.”
Mrs. Gaskarth looked up suddenly, “Oh. Sweetheart, I’m so sorry. How old was he?”
“31.” I say, looking down at Jack for help.
“So presents or food first?” Jack pops up from our laps.

Thank God. I don’t think I would be able to handle that very much longer.

“We could do presents.” Mrs. Barakat smiled.
“Sweet. Wanna help me hand them out?” Jack winked at me.
“Sure Jacky.” I smiled, and took his hand as he helped me up.
“Okay. We’re going to pass them all out, but don’t open them yet! We’re going to start from youngest to oldest.” Jack announced.

We divided up all of the presents, and then started with Joe, who got some cool things from all of us. Then May. And the Harmony.

She got a stuffed Panda from me, with chocolate, and a poem. (We have a pact that we don’t spend money on each other.) Jack got her a green day hoodie that she has really wanted, and a Pink Floyd Vinyl, the last one she needed for that collection. Then Alex gave her a mix tape, and a beautiful charm braclet, each charm had a different, special meaning to them. It was so adorable.

“Thank you guys so much,” She hugs Jack tightly, and then me, and then kisses Alex and smiles.” You guys are the best. And this bracelet.. I love you.” She kisses Alex’s cheek.


Then it was my turn.

Harmony got me a stuffed Moose. (She knows my dream is to move to Canada one day and to ride a moose into sunset while drinking maple syrup and listening to All Time Low) White Chocolate, and a hand written note. Then Alex gave me a nightmare before Christmas beanie and purse, and put handcuffs in the purse (Not to be seen by anyone else but Jack) Then I opened Jack’s gift, he gave me a gold locket, With a Picture of Timmy in it when it’s opened up.
“I.. Thank you guys so much.” I look at Jack, and a tear fell down my eye as I kissed him, and hugged him tightly. I then hugged Lexi, and then Harmony.


I’m speechless. This locket.. I can’t belive it. Jack.. I can’t even explain how much I love him.

Jack starred at me for a second, and then grabbed my hand, “It’s your turn Lexi.”


Alex got a sweater and some pictures from his parents, a shirt from Jack’s parents. A mix tape, a framed picture of him and Harmony, and a special green day guitar pic from me. A coupon for a free kiss, a blink 182 hoodie, and a framed picture of him, harmony, and his dog Sebastian together, from Jack. And then a new pair of Nike’s that he has been begging for, a couple dirty coupons, and a picture of the band, with “Dreams do come true” engraved on the frame. The picture was from the first ATL concert I ever went to with her.


“Thank you guys so much,” Alex says, going around the hugging everyone. And then kissing Harmony. “This was the first ATL concert you guys went to?.. Well shit. You definitely won.” He laughed.


Then it was Jack’s turn. His parents gave him some new skinny jeans, a pair of shoes, and a big family photo. The Gaskarth’s gave him a framed picture of the band to put up I his house, and homeade cookies just for him. Harmony gave him a Nightmare before Christmas hoodie, Home alone shirt, and a picture of him and me. Then a shirt with Alex’s face on it, a blink 182 Vinyl, and some gummy bears from Alex. And then I gave him a custom Home Alone guitar pic, a mix tape with these songs on it:

-All the Small Things by Blink 182. (For the day he came and we packed my stuff up at my house)
-Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen. (We always sing this in the car together.)
-Centuries by Fall Out Boy. (It was a favorite of his.)
-Fix you by Coldplay. (How I feel for him)
-Fuck You by Liley Allen. (Who doesn’t love this song? It’s upbeat, and just makes you happy.)
-How to Save a Life by The Fray. (He played this for me while I was in this hospital)
-Jamie All Over Again by Mayday Parade. (“Please don’t tell me that I’m dreaming…” How I feel when I’m with him.
-Aliens Exist by Blink 182 (Because, we’re here, aren’t we?)
-Theoretical Dick Jokes/Statistics by Bo Burnham. (Something to make him laugh)
-Wake me up. By Ed Sheeran. (When I’m with him.)
-Just the Way You Are. (Cover) By Pierce the Veil. (How I feel about him)
-Somewhere in Memory by John Williams. (Home Alone!!)
-The Irony Of Choking on a Lifesaver. By ATL (How we met.)

And then I gave him a picture from the first ATL concert we went to engraved on the bottom, “Stay Awake, Dreams Only last for a night.” Then a “BONER” strap for his guitar, and a really nice bottle of Wine, where I put a note with some dirty coupons to go with it.

“Thank you guys so much.” He says hugging everyone, and then kissing me. “These songs.. Fuck Ky. I’m going to cry when I listen to these.” He laughs, and I smile.


Then everyone finished up their turns, and hugs and kisses were exchanged.


Today is going better then expected, I’m just really happy to see everyone so happy, and enjoying themselves, I’ve never really expierenced this. It’s amazing. I couldn’t ask for anything more. Life is good.
