Five Years

Zack’s POV:

I stood in the kitchen brewing coffee, hoping that the smell would Shay downstairs and that the caffeine would cure her hangover. I felt bad for her, too much was going on right now and she could barely handle things as they were. I heard some footsteps on the stairs and I tapped my fingers on the counter, waiting to talk to Shay.

“Well look who finally decided to wake up.” I laughed lightly and watched as she sat down on the stool at the counter. “How did you sleep?”

She shook her head and scratched the start of her hairline, a confused look was spread across her face but I know she doesn’t handle alcohol well. “To be honest, I don’t even remember coming home last night.”

“Really?” I chuckled and poured her a mug full of coffee.

She sighed and took the mug as I handed it to her. “So what happened after I left last night, did they work things out?”

I pursed my lips and thought about that night and I shook my head.

*Flashback*

I sighed when Shay left, knowing that the bar was so close by, I knew that was the only place for her to go in this cold weather. Alex and Jack were sitting on the couch on either side of me, looking even more desperate than they were before. Their noses were bloody and their faces were starting to turn red and purple from all of the fighting. I had given them each bags of vegetables so they could help with the swelling.

We had been sitting on the couch for a while after Shay had left and no one had said a word. Jack was twirling his thumbs and Alex was tapping his foot on the ground. I waited for a few minutes and decided that it was time to speak up.

“So are you going to talk to each other now that Shay is gone?” I sighed, hoping that this time something would actually work out. Jack was twirling his fingers and not looking up from his hands, and of course Alex was tapping his fingers on his knee. “Well if you’re not going to talk about this, then I will, and forgive me for acting like your father right now. First of all, how could you do this to Alex? Jack, you know that it’s wrong to date your best friend’s ex, it’s the most important rule. And Alex, how dare you come to my house after Shay told you that she didn’t want to see you. Do either of you have good morals?”

They continued to sit on the couch, but I got up so I could look down at them. “Now I don’t know what either of you are thinking, but you really need to get your shit together. And until then, please don’t come here and don’t try to contact Shay. She’s in a mess already.”

I walked out of the living room and went upstairs to take a hot shower. The showers in the locker room at the gym were awful, I was waiting until I got home but then I had to take care of the guys like they’re a bunch of kids. I didn’t expect a fight like that out of either of them, especially considering the fact that they’re best friends. After this, I’m not sure if they’re even going to be talking to each other. I got out of the shower and dried myself off as best I could and then wrapped the towel around my waist.

As I walked into my bedroom the only thing I could think about was eating something and relaxing, I needed something to calm me down after dealing with all this shit.


*End Flashback*

“So they never worked anything out?” She frowned and I only shook my head. Her head sunk down and she rested her forehead on her crossed arms. “How did I get into this mess in the first place?” She whined handpicked her head up. “But more importantly, how did I get home?”

I shook my head and leaned against the counter. “Well after a few hours of waiting up for you, I finally got your call. You sounded really drunk and I couldn’t exactly understand what you were saying but I only knew a few bars within walking distance so I checked them out and thankfully you were at the last one that I checked. The people around you were drinking and having a good time but I convinced you to come home and then I just carried you up to your room because you passed out in the car. Then I just laid you down on your stomach and put the trash bin next to your bed in case you would throw up.”

“And I assume that the glass of water was your doing as well?” She smiled.

I nodded my head and laughed. “You just weren’t in good shape so I figured that I would help out as much I as I could before I fell asleep too.”

She got up and walked around the counter. She pulled me into a big hug and I hugged her back. “Thanks Zack.”

“No problem sis, I’ll pick you up some greasy food and some water and then we can just hang out here all day.” I said as she let go.

“No boys?” She asked.

I shrugged, “It’ll just be the two of us.”

She smiled and went out to the living room to sit on the couch.

SORRY THAT IT'S BEEN SO LONG SINCE I'VE UPDATED, I'M TRASH.

First I couldn't log into my account and then I realized that this chapter sucks and it really wasn't worth the wait for any of you (if anyone even reads this anymore lmao).
Anyway, I think I'm ending this soon because I'm getting bored with it and the least I could do is give you guys a real ending that isn't complete shit. So please bear with me for a few more weeks (at least) and I'll power through this, I promise. However, the next update won't be for over another week because I'll be on vacation and I won't be taking my laptop.

So thank you for dealing with me, supporting me, and (hopefully) not hating me completely for being off schedule for posting.
