My Only One (Jalex)

Epilogue

Third Person POV:

Life for Jack and Alex has been perfect. Their relationship is stronger than ever and it just seems to grow in strength as each day passes. Jack and Alex are at their happiest, sharing their very first home together, coming home to each other and just being able to publicly show their relationship. Having to keep their love for each other under wraps was one of the hardest things both of them had to go through. They loved it each other and they wanted to show it. After all, wouldn't anyone else? They were two people madly in love with their significant other and all they wanted was to show it off to the world, let the world know that their love for each other was strong and unbreakable. For them to do that was incredibly hard but they managed it with only one little incident back when Jack and Alex were both at Dulaney, but thankfully, that was all sorted and the crisis was averted.

The move to the new house went smoothly. They both spent the summer decorating and buying new furniture so they could finally make the house their own. They both put their own stamp on it and it turned out beautifully. Jack liked the sleek, modern furniture and Alex liked warm colours so their preferences went well together. Their house was modern but still homely- exactly what they wanted. They loved living there, they finally felt like they had a home. Although Alex previously lived in a house of his own, he inherited it from his parents so it never felt like his, it always felt like his parents. He was happy to now feel happy in his home, his home he shared with the love of his life.

Alex was enjoying teaching at his new school, a private academy in a wealthy suburb. He enjoyed every aspect of it, the managing of the school, being head teacher and also teaching music. It was his dream job and he was loving every moment of it. Jack decided to go to college after all, deciding to major in music. The college was just across the road from the school that Alex worked at so it worked out perfectly for the happy couple. Jack was enjoying every minute of it too, turning out to be top of his class in each assessment they did. He was talented, Alex always knew that, but he never knew just how talented he really was. Jack was not only a fantastic guitarist but he was great at music theory too. At his time at college, he'd made some great friends, genuine friends. He'd also learnt to play other instruments, including drums, bass and a little bit of piano. He also didn't hide his sexuality, neither did Alex. They were accepted, despite what Maria had said about the neighbourhood being fairly homophobic. They hadn't received a great deal of hassle, only a few filthy looks from the elderly people living nearby but they didn't let that get to them. Why should they let a few judgemental people spoil their happiness?

Three years into their relationship, things were still going great. Alex had become slightly more on edge though, keeping more secrets and reply to Jack in short sentences. Jack grew concerned, understandably, and wanted to know why his boyfriend was acting so weird. He was going to challenge Alex about it but Alex had other ideas. He drove them both to the beach that they visited when they first viewed the house. They lay on the soft sand and watched the sun set over the horizon, like they did that special night almost two and a half years ago. It was special, no, more than special. It was perfect. All of Jack's worries and concerns were momentarily forgotten, those thoughts replaced by thoughts of how perfect the man he was lying next to was. They lay on the sand, their fingers intertwined between their bodies. There were other couples on the beach, lying in the same position. No words were spoken between the two lovers, not even when Alex detached his hand from Jack's and got to his knees, fishing something out of his pocket. He was knelt on one knee by the time Jack had noticed the lack of warmth coming from Alex's hand. He looked up, confused, but that didn't last long. Shock took over, tears immediately brimming his beautiful, wide eyes.
"Jay? Can I ask you something?"
Jack nodded eagerly, his eyes still with tears threatening to fall in them.
"You know, these past three years have been amazing. I meant it at graduation when I said I felt like the luckiest guy in the world, I still do. You complete me, Jay, I've known that from the moment I met you. I've always dreamt of the moment where I'd be stood at the top of the aisle, waiting for you to come down it, looking beautiful in a tux and I really want that to happen sometime soon. So I guess what I'm trying to ask is...will you make me feel even more lucky and marry me?"
Tears were streaming down Jack's face. His eyes landed on the ring that was held between Alex's index finger and thumb, his hand shaking slightly. Now it had become to clear to Jack as to why Alex was acting so suspiciously- he'd been preparing this.
"Yes, oh my God. Yes, yes, yes!"
By now, the entire beach had caught on to what was happening so they now also had an audience. The beach erupted into applause as Jack launched himself at Alex, them tumbling onto the sand. Jack crashed his lips against Alex's, having their first kiss as fiancées. Once they pulled apart, Alex slid the ring, a simple yet elegant silver and black band, onto Jack's finger. Their audience on the beach were all chatting amongst themselves, mostly discussing how cute Jack and Alex were. Both lovers were blushing madly by now but they didn't care. They were finally engaged and that's all that mattered. They spent the rest of their evening on the beach, sharing the odd kiss now and again but mainly enjoying each other's company.

News of the couple's engagement spread fast around Jack's college and Alex's school, nothing but lovely comments being said. They were wrong when they thought that they were the happiest they'd ever been. Now they were at their happiest. They had taken a pretty big step in their relationship and they were both ecstatic about it. The wedding plans were being made soon after, Jack wanting to get married at their local concert venue and Alex wanting to tie the knot at a posh hotel though. There were arguments, but nothing a lot of angry, make up sex couldn't resolve. They settled on the hotel though, Jack soon realising that a concert venue wedding wouldn't be as cool as he first thought. They decided to go with a concert theme though, having live bands and little favours made in the style of band merchandise. The wedding was fast approaching and the excitement that the two were feeling could be felt from miles away. There was a constant buzz around the house, the college and the school. In fact, they both had permanent grins on their faces. Jack could hardly sit still when the wedding was only a week away. They were both so excited, nervous and happy. Everything had been arranged and now all that was left was the wait. It seemed agonisingly long for the two of them. Neither of them decided to have a stag party, it wasn't their thing. Instead, they decided on a date for the two of them- a movie, dinner at a fancy restaurant and then the best sex that either of them had had in their lives. In comparison, maybe a stag party would've been more normal but when has Jack and Alex's relationship ever been even close to normal

Jack and May had grown closer too, them both taking steps to revive their, once close, relationship. It went well, Jack had even grown to like James, May's now husband. Jack had decided that he'd like to leave for the wedding from May's house, her basically being the only family member he has left. Sure, he had Joe, his elder brother, but they weren't all that close, Joe was giving Jack away though, it only seemed right. Rian was Jack's best man, he was his best friend, after all. Despite living at opposite ends of the state, they still remained good friends. Rian was now married to Cassadee and they had their second child on the way. Jack still wanted kids with Alex though and now that they were days away from getting married, it seemed the only logical next step. They'd talked about it, they'd talked a lot, and they both wanted it so it wouldn't be long before they had another member of the family. It was just another thing for them both to look forward to.

The day of the wedding had arrived. Alex woke up feeling excited, wanting to be able to call Jack his husband already. He'd have to wait though. Jack woke up in a cold sweat, nerves already running through his veins. Getting ready was relatively easy. Relatively. Well, if you count Jack standing in front of the mirror almost emptying a full tin of hairspray onto his, still skunk coloured hair. He'd never be completely satisfied by what he saw but he would be late if he stood there for much longer, it taking Rian to pretty much prise Jack's hand away from the hairspray to get him off to the hotel. Alex arrived early, not wanting to live up to reputation of being approximately ten minutes late to everything. The room looked amazing. The lights were dimmed and there were other lights that gave off a blueish hue. It was just what they both wanted.

Jack arrived bang on time, Rian being meticulous about keeping time, he'd have to thank him for that later on. Alex watched Jack nervously walk down the aisle, his arms linked with his brother's. Tears were already running down Alex's pale cheeks, the sight of his beautiful, soon to be husband, getting too much for him to handle. They shared a quick kiss before the ceremony started.
"You look beautiful, Jay."
"So do you, handsome."
The ceremony was sweet, their vows bringing tears to everyone's eyes. Everyone knew the details of their relationship so it came as no surprise when Alex mentioned that time in their lives during his vows. Jack being his usual self, kept his vows light hearted but they were still pretty serious. Alex thought it was a nice touch from Jack to include getting Freddie, who was still going strong. Their first kiss as married men was magical. It felt like their first kiss. They pulled apart with huge grins on their faces before going in for another kiss, the temptation becoming too much to ignore.

The after party was fantastic. Jack and Alex had picked a few of their favourite local bands to play at their wedding, supporting the main band that had been picked out by May, neither of the happy couple knew what band it was exactly. The lights dimmed as the main band took to the stage. No one could see who it was until the lights went on, illuminating the stage at the front of the long hotel room. Everyone was on the dance floor, eagerly waiting for the band to start playing.
"This one goes out to my favourite couple." The familiar voice of Alex's former Mexican friend rang through the speakers. They had invited Vic and Mike to the wedding but both of them said they couldn't come because they were already at another wedding, a family member's, but that was a total lie. Vic had quit teaching a year after Alex left Dulaney to go and pursue his dream of being in a band. Pierce The Veil had made it pretty fast and Alex was extremely proud of his ex-pupil and former work mate. He knew that it would be a long shot for both of them to come to the wedding, with them both being in the successful band, but there was no harm in trying. Now they'd got their wish and they were playing for them. It was brilliant.

Once the night was through, Jack and Alex crashed in the best suite that the hotel had to offer, both of them too exhausted to even contemplate making love, that could wait till the morning. For now, they were both content on just lying in each other's arms, kissing lazily until they both fell asleep.
"I love you, Jack Bassam Gaskarth."
"I love you too, Alexander William Gaskarth."

Notes

That's it. It's over. Done. Fin.

I hope the whole third person POV wasn't too shitty. I just didn't feel like it would be good enough to give the end chapter from one point of view and I don't like switching POVs so that's the next best thing.

I'm actually pretty sad to let this one go. There's not going to be a sequel though because I already have an idea for my next fic in my head. (Woo)

Anyway, thank you so effing much for all the support you've given me on this incredible journey. A lot of you have commented and you all said such lovely things, things I could never dream of being said to me, so thank you, it means a lot. Some of you have said that this is your favourite fic and that it's hard finding others that live up to it and that is just incredible. I actually find it hard to believe but thank you all the same. I love you all.

Anyway, it's bye for now and thank you all once again.
Em x

Why is it that every time I read a high school atl story I picture actual high school aged atl. Like I'm picturing Jack as the lanky kid who's hair was al floppy
