Thinking of You

10 AM from BWI…

I checked my watch. 9:15. Shit.

I called Alex.

“Did you look in the box?” He asked when he picked up.

“Yeah. And she’s moving to Arizona,” I choked.

“What? Why?”
“She was friends with Stephen Gomez in high school and she’s moving into his house,” I explained.

“When’s her flight leave?” Alex questioned.

“10 this morning.”

“We’ll be right over.”Alex hung up after that and I sat helplessly on my bed. By the time they got there, it was almost 9:30.

“We’ll never make it!” I cried as Alex sped towards BWI.

“Zack, chill, I’m trying not to get a speeding ticket!” Alex retorted.

“This is all Jack’s fault. He had to stop to straighten his hair,” Rian said.

“WHY CAN’T WE BE FRIENDS WHY CAN’T WE BE FRIENDS LALALALA!” Jack sang loudly.

“Would you piss babies shut the fuck up? I don’t wanna die because Alex can’t concentrate on the road!” Vinny said.

“Thanks, Petrocelli,” Alex said.

“My pleasure.”

We reached the airport and I raced through it, trying to find the terminal. I finally found it, but the gate was closed. I turned to the woman at the gate.

“Excuse me, we need to get on that flight,” I told her as politely as possible.

“I’m sorry, but once the gates close, the flight is all set to leave,” she said, looking sincerely apologetic.

I sank into the nearest chair and the guys sat around me, comforting me as I buried my face in my hands. I was too late. She was gone.
