Alex's POV

My eyes opened. The light was too bright and the constant bleeping was making my head hurt. It smelled like antiseptic and my body felt heavy, like it was being weighed down. I could taste plastic on my tongue, making me gag. It was disgusting. My eyes slowly adjusted to the brightness and I became aware of my surroundings. I was in hospital. I started to panic. The last thing I remembered was looking into Jack's eyes as we drove home from going to the summer lodge. I shouldn't be in hospital. Nothing had happened that would require me to go to hospital. I tried to scream, speak, whisper, anything to get someone's attention. A nurse rushed in.

"Mr Gaskarth? You're awake?" She exclaimed, before running out again but soon returning with a male doctor.

"Alex. Hi, I'm Doctor Evans. How are you feeling?" He said, a fake smile plastered on his face like a Band-Aid. I was impatient.

"I feel fine, thanks. Why am I here? What's happened to me?" I didn’t like it one bit.

"You had a car accident. Head on collision, I'm afraid. Minor injuries, but you have been unconscious for a few days. We kept you in for observation but you appear to be perfectly fine." My eyes opened wide. What?!

"What? I, what?" I yelled, "How did it happen?"

"You were travelling home in the rain and a drunk driver, who was driving on the wrong side of the road, drove straight into you. It happened so fast, you didn't even have time to react. Your girlfriend is fine though."

"Good," I said. Then it hit me like a fucking bullet train, "My girlfriend?! Where's Jack?! Where's my boyfriend?" The doctor looked worried for a fraction of a second, and then his smile returned.

"Ok, Alex. I'm a little worried about your memory. I'm going to ask you a few very basic questions, just to check that everything's fine. Is that ok?" He said calmly.

"Erm, sure." I replied, my mind still on Jack. Where the fuck was he?! And why was Dr Evans saying I had a girlfriend?

"Right, Alex. What is the day and month?"

"It's Sunday, 26th of May." The doctor looked worried.

"And what year is it?"

"2006, I graduate this year." The doctor swallowed.

"Ok. Right, Alex, it seems that you may have amnesia. You seem to have forgotten the past year and a half of your life," He watched my shocked expression as he flicked through some papers, "And it also seems that your last memory is of the day you were involved in your first car accident, with Jack Barakat." My heart started racing and I was finding it difficult to breath.

"Where is Jack? I want Jack! Get me Jack! I need to be with my boyfriend!" I screamed, desperately trying to get out of the uncomfortable hospital bed.

"If you to see Mr Barakat that much then I'll have a nurse call him. I’m going to allow your girlfriend into the room. She was been sitting outside this room every day." I just nodded sadly and the doctor left. Thoughts flicked through my head. It was too much to take in. I started shaking and sweating at an inhuman rate. My vision began to get blurry. The door was flung open.

"Alex!" A girl called, running towards me as I completely blacked out.

I'm so sorry guys but this is how I'd planned the story from the beginning, it gets happier but for now it's all sad and stufftz.
Just prepare for sadness for the next few chapters.
