Shut Up And Kiss Me Now

Chapter 11

As Jack's eyes fluttered open three hours after their shower, the sweet smell of fried bacon wafted into the room. He took a long sniff and smiled. This was what Saturdays where made for. He slowly hauled himself off of the mattress and pulled on his boxers shorts that lay a couple of metres away. His steps were light and quiet as he exited the bedroom and walked into the main living space. The smell of frying turned his attention to the skinny boy to his left, frying pan in hand and spatula at the ready. Jack tiptoed around the counter when Alex went to the fridge and managed to go unnoticed. He quickly closed the remaining space between them and wrapped his slender arms around the shorter boy's waist, his chin naturally falling to rest on his shoulder. Alex's body relaxed against his.

"Good morning, gorgeous!" Jack whispered. He lightly pressed his lips to Alex's cheek. The boy giggled.

"Good morning to you too!" Alex replied, shrugging Jack off a little so he could continue cooking, "I'm making you food!" Jack grinned at the beaming smile that radiated from Alex's face.

"You're too sweet," Jack said as he walked to the table, "But I'm not incapable of making my own food." Alex gasped, mock shock covering his face.

"What's so wrong with cooking my guy some breakfast, huh?" He paused, "See? I even made a face out of egg, mushrooms and bacon!" Alex protested, handing Jack his plate, piled high with food. The older boy then sat opposite his grinning boyfriend with his own plate of breakfast. They ate their food in silence, except from the odd burst of giggles cascading from either boy's lips when a stray piece of egg yolk escaped to the other's cheek. It was just one of those moments where you don't need to talk.

"Right, you. Up," Alex said once two empty plates sat in the dishwasher, "Go and get changed. I taking you out somewhere."

An hour passed and the sun beamed heavily down onto the pair sat in the car. Jack sighed. He didn't know where Alex was driving him but cruising down the freeway with the top down and Alex's iPod on shuffle was good enough for him. The speakers pumped rhythmically, playing music loud enough to shake the smoothies that sat in the cup holders.

"Oh, man! This is my JAM!" Alex yelled over the noise and turned the stereo up a little louder. 'Living On A Prayer' pounded out of the speakers. Jack didn't reply. He just smiled and tipped his head back against the head rest. The chorus began to start.
" OOOHHH WE'RE HALF WAY THERE," Fist pump to the air, "OOOOOHHHHHHH, WE'RE LIVING ON A PRAYER!" Both boys collapsed into fits of laughter. The wind flung their hair back and the sun made it feel like summer was already there.

*30 minutes later*

The narrow road that Alex was driving along was long and winded. It took sharp turns around fields and hills, dodging the climb to the top. They passed forests and clearings until finally Alex took a tiny left turn that led down the opposite side of the hill. Jack could smell salty water and knew they were heading to a beach. Jack had never been this far out of Baltimore before, so he had no idea, not even a hint, of where Alex was taking him. Alex just sat there grinning, knowing how much his boyfriend would love the place. Suddenly, the canopy above them disappeared and the clear blue sky emerged. The road took a sharp right and Jack nostrils had told him correctly: the sea was literally a hundred yards away. Jack beamed and Alex blushed, pleased that Jack was happy. The cove was small and completely empty. It was a sandy beach and the tide lapped neatly against it. Alex took the car down a gravel track to a little lodge a little further away from the water. A path connected the house and the beach in a zigzag. The car stopped out side the house and, turning off the engine, Alex turned to smile at Jack.

"We're here," He said, "Welcome to the Gaskarth Summer Hideout!" Jack grinned at the older boy and they both quickly ran the short distance to the front door. Alex unlocked the door and the taller boy stepped inside. Everything was wood, metal and glass. It was modern and very elegant. Jack loved the place. It was just the kind of place he could see a sweaty Alex lounging about in during the hot summer months. Alex shut the door and followed Jack further into the house. He watched Jack star at the furnishings with his mouth hung open. He looked so adorable.

"You wanna change and head to the beach?" Alex said suddenly, making a stunned Jack jump and spin around quickly. A grin spread across Jack's face and he bounded after Alex up the stairs to a very simple yet Alex room. Said boy was rummaging around in a drawer opposite the king sided bed, clearly looking for something. Alex sighed and pulled out two pairs of swim shorts, one was a navy blue colour and the other was a deep purple.

"Your choice," Alex asked, holding them up for Jack to have a look, "I don't have a favourite."

"I think I'll have the purple ones please, babe." Jack replied with a smile, pulling the shorts from Alex's grip. Soon, both boys were changed and ready to head to the empty beach. Before leaving, Alex grabbed four towels and an average sized sun umbrella.

"You ready yet?" Jack whined, dragging out the 'e' sound in 'yet'.

"Yes! Gosh! You're such a child!" Alex joked, pushing the towels into Jack's palms, "Now carry these for me! I'm not carrying both down to the beach!" Jack did as he was told and soon, two towels laid neatly under the propped up and open umbrella, two more towels laying folded in the shade. As soon as their spot was sorted, Jack threw himself into the sea, closely followed by his boyfriend. Water was throw into the air, both boys style-till-perfect hair ruined in seconds, but neither cared. They were just going to enjoy the time they had before they had to face school again on Monday.
