~Alex's POV~

The bell for lunch rang, and I wandered out of class to find Jack standing by the door, leaning against the wall. He looked so adorable. I had never properly had a crush or a boyfriend before, I just knew I was into guys. And for Jack to be my first, well, it felt like it was meant to be. I know that sounds like some cheesy shit, but that's honestly how I felt.

"Earth to Alex!" Jack waved at my face. "Hello?" I realised I had been staring, and looked down, my cheeks heating up.

"Oh, sorry, what is it?"

"Well I just had art and I met this really cool guy called Rian. He likes the same music as us, and he can play drums, he's awesome! Anyway, him and his girlfriend asked if we wanted to sit with them at lunch?"

"Yeah, that sounds good." I lied. Inside my heart felt like it was about to pound out of my chest. It had to be a joke. They were just inviting us to come and sit with them for lunch so they can make fun if me, I'm sure of it. What if they don't like me? Oh wait, no one does. Thoughts kept running through my mind, I was panicking, but managed to play it cool. I think.

"Are you okay?" Jack suddenly asked, his voice now filled with worry.

"Yup, I'm good, come on, let's go!" And with that, we headed to the cafeteria.

When we got there, Jack glanced around looking for Rian's friend group. He found them, pulling me behind him. I recognised the faces at the table, but I couldn't put names to any. They all seemed like pretty nice people, smiling when we approached them, and from what I can remember, I don't think they've ever been mean to me before.

"Hey Jack, Alex!" Rian stood up and greeted us. "Let me introduce you to everyone; I'm Rian, as you probably already know, this is Cass, my beautiful girlfriend, Jess, Jaime, Vic, and Zack." He gestured to everyone as he called their names. Everyone welcomed us, and we took our seats, me sitting in between Jack and Rian.

I looked around out table, analysing the group. Rian had a shaved head, and the brightest teeth I think I've ever seen; Cass had flowing, dark hair, and was very pretty; Jess had short, black hair, and was very pretty too; Jaime wore his black hair in spikes, sticking up in all directions, and never stopped smiling; Vic was small, with curly, brown hair that went just past his shoulders; Zack was very muscular, it was obvious that he worked out a lot. Jess and Jaime looked like a couple, but Vic and Jaime seemed super close, too.

"So are you guys foreign?" Jack asked Vic and Jaime, who's skin took on an olive tone.

"Good old Mexico!" Jaime answered, ever since we sat down, his smile had never moved off of his face.

"We moved up from San Diego 2 years ago." Vic went on, "But all our parents are Mexican." Vic seemed like one of the more sensible ones in the group, I liked him.

I kept quiet most the time, only really talking when I was asked a question, everyone was really nice to me, nicer than anyone had been to me in school for a long time. I enjoyed sitting with them, and just listening to their conversations. I liked listening, I got to know people better.

The bell for the end of lunch signalled, and I started to head for geography.

"Oh, Alex, wait up!" Someone called from behind me. I turned around to see Cass. "I'm in your next lesson, do you mind if I walk up with you?"

"Yeah, sure." I smiled, it would be nice to have someone to walk to class with. "I don't think I've recognised you in geography before, have you always been in my class?"

"No, it's muy first time in this class, my timetable had to get rearranged because stuff clashed with my revision."

"Hmm" I responded. "I have a spare seat next to me, you can sit there of you want?"

"Yes, thankyou! I though I was going to have to sit on my own." There was a pause. "So, seen as you're new to our group, is there anything you would like to know about anyone?"

I thought about it and then I started on my questions. "So you and Rian are going out?"

"Yeah."

"How long have you been together?" I asked another question, I was genuinely interested.

"Just over a year now, it was our anniversary in July." They were so cute together, aw.

"You guys are perfect for each other, you seem really happy with him." I smiled at her, and watched her face light up as she heard my comment.

"Really? You don't know how happy that makes me!" I could tell me and Cass were going to get along well.

"So are Jaime and Jess a thing too?" I asked.

"Yup."

"But it what about Jaime and Vic? There must be something going on, right? Or has my gaydar broke?" I was sure something was happening between them, but I couldn't put my finger on it.

"Right, so Vic and Jaime say that's nothing going on between them, but they act like something has. They're always together, they're basically inseparable. They always seem to be holding each others hand or something. Jess doesn't mind it, but if I was her, I would be suspicious. Jaime would never hurt Jess, but I'm sure there's a little something there. In my opinion, I think they had a little fling before they moved here, but hey, what do I know? Oh yeah, Alex? If you tell anyone about this you're dead." She joked, laughing.

I joined in on her laughter, and soon we were in a fit of giggles, for no apparent reason. I was just laughing because Cass was. A few minutes later, we calmed down enough that we were able to talk again.

"Alex, what's going on with you and Jack? You're so adorable together! Are you dating?" She fired me questions, and I didn't know how to answer, but in the end I just decided to tell her the truth.

"I don't know what's going on with me and Jack. I kind of like him.." Cass stared at me, a disbelieving look in her eye. "Okay, so I like him a lot." I continued, "but we're not dating or anything. Well I haven't asked him, and he hasn't asked me. Anyway, I've only known him a few days, I can't rush into things."

"Have you two done anything?" She asked, winking at me.

I grinned and looked down. God, even thinking about Jack turned my stomach into butterflies and made my heart rate increase. "Um, he maybe, kissed me?" I don't know why it came out as a question.

Cassadee's eyes lit up and she smiled a big, toothy smile. "Oh my god that's so cute!" She squealed. "I ship you two so much! Oh my god!" She looked like she was about to burst with excitement. "You need to ask him out!"

"Cass, I don't know.." I'd only known Jack for a few days, and sure, I had a huge crush on him, but did I really want this?

"You don't need to do it straight away, but if you don't ask him by the end of September, then I'm asking him for you!" She was jumping up and down now. "Oh, I know! The September ball! Ask him to that!" The September ball was a themed dance held at the end of September to introduce everyone into the new school year. I've never been, I've never had anyone to go there with, but I heard it was really good.

"Okay, okay, but don't rush me into it!" I replied, smiling like an idiot.
