Just a Daydream Away
Chapter 5
~Jack's POV~
We headed for school in the cold September breeze. Baltimore was normally warm at the start of the school year, it was strange to be able to feel winter so early on. Alex walked next to me, popping a black beanie onto his caramel coloured hair. I wanted to hold his hand so bad, but I knew that we wouldn't be doing that in public for a while. It's such a shame that people bully Alex just because of the way he is, he's beautiful, and I wish everyone could see that.
We reached school and by now we were both starting to shiver. As soon as we got inside, a blanket of heat hit us, it felt so nice and comforting. We went to Alex's locker, which was close to the reception I visited yesterday. As we walked around the corner, I saw Tyler and his friends by the locker, and I froze in my tracks.
"Um hey, Alex, why are they waiting by your locker?" I asked, my anger building up inside.
"Oh yeah, they always wait there in the morning, sometimes they say stuff, but sometimes they just ignore me." Alex replied, acting like it was just the usual routine he faced in the morning.
I started walking again, making sure I was standing partly in front of him, acting like his own personal shield, sort of. I didn't want him to get hurt.
"Hey Jack, what are you doing hanging around with him?" Tyler asked me, spitting in Alex's direction as he spoke.
"Yeah, why are you with that loser?" One of Tyler's friends chimed in, I think his name was Chad.
"I'm hanging out with my friend, why do you care?" I answered, trying to act as casual as I could.
Tyler and his followers then stepped closer to me. "You better watch yourself, Barakat." He spat again, this time in my direction. Then they walked off, acting like they owned the place.
"Th-thankyou Jack, no ones ever stood up for me like that before." Alex smiled gratefully.
"No problem, Hun." His smile grown wider as he heard the nickname I gave him. "They're all dicks anyway, just ignore them."
Alex grabbed his stuff out of his locker, and we headed for first lesson, maths. Luckily, we were in the same class, and I got a seat next to Alex. We sat through most the lesson just talking, our teacher was this funny old man who just fell asleep after starting the lesson and setting the work. I'm glad we had this dude for maths, it was my worst subject.
"I'm glad you stayed over last night, Jack." Alex looked at me, smiling for the millionth time already today. Just seeing his smile made my face light up too.
"I'm glad I did, too. I'm glad I met you Alex Gaskarth." God, I wanted to kiss him so bad right now.
"I'm extremely happy I met you, Jack Barakat."
We just stared into each others eyes for what felt like forever, and then I spoke up. "So are you alright with meeting my mom tonight? I don't want to pressure you into doing anything.." I asked. I knew Alex was nervous. You could tell by the way his body language changed.
"Yeah, I'm super nervous, but I'm excited too. I haven't saw my mom in ages, so it would be nice to meet yours."
"Good, my mom will love you, I just know she will." I smiled at him, and he smiled back. We continued the rest of the school day just like that, up until the bell.
As we were walking out the school I turned towards him. "Are you ready?"
"As ready as I'll ever be." Alex replied, and we started walking.

This is the most emotional I've ever been, reading a fic. I binge-read it for two days and finished last night at like 6am and I was sobbing
