The Selfless and the Brave

I slowly let my eyes flutter open as I felt someone shake my body the slightest. The first thing I saw when they opened, was Jack. He had a huge smile on his face and I couldn’t help but smile a bit as well. I was going against all rules being here in his house, in a different faction, and disobeying my parents. Many other rules I have broken in the past twenty four hours, but Jack has been trying to cheer me up. He has been treating me so kindly and protecting me. I don’t know how I will ever thank him for doing this for me. “I know it’s early, but we have to get up and get ready. My parents said we didn’t have to go to school today, but my Dad would like to meet you before he leaves for work. I laid out some stuff for you to put on for the day in the bathroom, you can take a shower, use any of my stuff, I don’t mind at all.” He spoke to me.

I reached over and grabbed my notepad. Thank you for being so kind. He smiled at what I have written at spoke again, “There is no need to thank me. Really, I’m just doing what any normal person would do. Now, I already showered and all that, so go ahead and go take yours.” I nodded over to the bathroom and gave me one more smile before walking over to leave his room, “Oh, and Alex, when you finish, just come on downstairs, don’t be shy.” I nodded slightly, and got up from the bed when he left the room.

I went into his bathroom and saw the stuff he laid out for me were clothes that a Dauntless would wear. I was not one, and I don’t believe I ever will be one. But, it was that, or the clothes I had on yesterday. So, I guess I’ll just have to use them. I pushed back the thought of having on Jack’s clothes, and just got in the shower. It was different to have nice, hot water. It kinda came to a shock to me. I am forever grateful for this very moment I am experiencing.

Once I had finished my shower, and put on the clothes, I put the stuff Jack had let me use last night, in the basket once again. I made sure I had everything back in place, and cleaned everything up. I looked up for a second, and caught my eye in the mirror, instantly putting my head back down. Right now, it was time to meet Jack’s Father, and I hope I don’t mess anything up.

This is so short, and I'm so sorry it has been so long. I was on vacation, and my mind is still in the vacation mode. I promise my next chapters will be long, I just needed to get something out for you guys. I promise I'll never make you guys wait this long again! I'm glad to be back :)
