“Hello” I answered my phone after seeing Jack’s name flash on the screen.

“Alex!” Jack practically screamed on the phone. I chuckled and turned down the volume on my phone.

“Hey Jack, what are you doing?”

“I’m with my mom and May right now, we’re getting dinner ready for tomorrow.” Jack sounded so happy. I heard what I assumed was May yelling ‘hi Alex’ and Jack telling her to shush.

“Tell May I said hi, babe” I laughed hearing him pout.

“May, Alex said hi” he huffed.

“And tell your mother I said hi too” I heard him tell her, and her yell hi to me.

“What are you and your dad doing tomorrow for Thanksgiving?” Jack asked.

“We’re going to go out to eat tomorrow. Then probably call it a night.”

“What about Cassadee and Rian? What are they doing?”

“They went to Cass’s parents’ house for the weekend. They finally made up. She told me you knew the whole time. Why didn’t you tell me, you jerk?”

“Sorry she made me promise not tell you or Rian!” He exclaimed.

“It’s okay, I’m just happy they got passed this. But I have to go grocery shopping so I’ll call you when I get back.”

“Okay. I love you.” I could hear him smiling through the phone.

“I love you too, bye.” I hung up and grabbed my keys.

I went to my car and started towards the store. I got to a red light and looked at my phone to see if my dad text me about where we were going to eat tomorrow. I didn’t have any messages and looked up to see my light turn green. I pulled forward about to cross the intersection when a car coming from the other direction smashed into me. Everything went black.

I woke up in a hospital bed with my dad, Rian, and Cass standing around me.

“I think he’s waking up!” Cass chirped.

“Alex! How do you feel?” My dad asked.

“My head hurts” I sat up putting my right hand up to my head because my left arm had an IV in it. Thank god they put the IV in while I was out, I fucking hate needles. “What are you guys doing here? You’re supposed to be at Cassadee’s parents’ house.” I asked Rian and Cassadee.

“Cass wanted me to call you to see if she left her hair straightener at home, but your dad answered the phone and told me you were here in the hospital.” Rian rambled.

“They called me as soon as the ambulance showed up since I’m on your insurance card as an emergency contact. So I meet them here and that’s when Rian called. I’m going to grab your doctor.” My dad added.

“You guys didn’t have to drive back, that was an hour drive for you guys. Wait how long have I been out?” I didn’t want Rian and Cass to spend their break here in the hospital because of me.
“Um you’ve been out for maybe three hours. And don’t worry about me and Ri, I didn’t want to be around my mom for that long anyways. One day was good enough. So we can spend Thanksgiving here with you and your father.” Cass said and Rian laughed.

“Thanks guys, really. Has my dad said anything about Jack calling?” I remembered I was supposed to call Jack when I got back from the grocery store.

“I think he only text you, but we didn’t want to invade your privacy by reading it.” Cass stated handing me my phone.

To Alex:
Hey are you done shopping? I was hoping we could Skype now!

Jack send the message at around one pm and it was now four-thirty. I decided I didn’t want to tell Jack my accident. I knew he would make it a bigger deal than it actually is. So I text him back telling him I was busy with my dad and that I would talk to him later. Two seconds later my dad walked in with the doctor right behind him. It was a female doctor and she was giggling, almost flirting, with my dad.

“Hello Mr. Gaskarth, I’m Dr. Fey. How are you feeling?” She asked looking down at my chart.

“I feel fine except for my head. It hurts like hell.” I groaned, feeling my head throb.

“Yeah you hit your head on the on window and a couple pieces of glass cut you. You also have some bruised and cuts on your arms, but that’s all. It doesn’t look like you have a concussion, but I want to keep you here one more day to make sure you’re alright. I’ll give you some medicine for your pain too okay?” She looked down at me.

I sighed, “Yeah that’s fine.” I was not up for eating hospital food for Thanksgiving.

“I know you’d rather spend your Thanksgiving not in a hospital, but I’ll be here with you too so there’s a plus!” Dr. Fey joked as she handed me two pills to take and I gave her a forced laugh.

“I’ll be here also.” My dad cut in.

“I’m happy to hear that” Dr. Fey smiled brightly at my dad. He blushed and glanced down at me. I mouthed at him to ask her out to lunch. He shook his head, but Cass pushed him lightly and caused him to bump into Dr. Fey; she turned around to face him.

“Hi uhh I was wondering if you’d like to grab lunch with me some time.” My dad nervously stuttered out.

“I would love to. My break is in twenty minutes. We can go down stairs and grab something.” She said enthusiastically.

“Great! I’ll meet you down there” My dad told her and she nodded and waved going out the door.

“Go Mr. Gaskarth! I see you still have game.” Rian said after Dr. Fey walked away.

“Rian please don’t” I laughed. I honestly didn’t mind my dad dating other people, but it was still kind of weird seeing him hit on other women.

“Alex don’t be jealous that I’m a chick magnet!” My dad taunted.

“I’m done with this conversation.” I rolled my eyes at him.

“Did you ever call Jack back?” Cass asked me.

“Umm no I decided it would be best for me not to tell him about the accident so he wouldn’t worry so much and actually enjoy his vacation.” I prepared myself for her to yell at me and force me to call him, but she didn’t.

“Okay, but he’s going to find out something happened when he gets a look at your car.” She raised her eyebrows at me.

“Oh god, how bad is it? And where’s the fucking idiot that ran the red light?”

“He um… drove away after he hit you.” Rian informed.

“How? Wasn’t his car messed up too?” I asked.

“He was in a Truck so it hurt your car more than his, and no one saw this licenses plate.” Rian told me.

“Ugh that asshole. When I find out who it was I swear I’m goin-“ my dad cut me off before I could finish.

“Alex calm down, your making your blood pressure go up. The cops will find out who did it and deal with him. Let’s just be thankful you weren’t seriously hurt.” He fussed.

“Fine” I crossed my arms around my chest.

“Aren’t you going to be late for your lunch date, Mr. Gaskarth?” Cass asked looking at the clock.
“Oh yes I should get going. How do I look?” He asked walking standing near the door.

“With your eyes” I muttered thinking no one heard my lame joke.

“Ignore him, he’s an idiot. You look fine just a little nervous” Cass assured him laughing.

“Okay I’ll be back in an hour or so. Wish me luck!” He said stepping out the door.

I felt my phone vibrate and I looked down to see I had new message from Lisa.

To Alex:
Hey do you want to grab a drink with me tonight?

To Lisa:
I can’t I’m in the hospital. Don’t freak out! It was just a car accident.

To Alex:
I’m coming up there to check on you.

To Lisa:
No I’m fine. I just need rest, maybe you can come visit me later.

To Alex:
Okay. I’ll text you.

I was happy I talked her out of coming. Lisa overreacts as much as Jack does, if not more. I also know Jack would be pissed if Lisa came and visited me while he didn’t even know about the accident.

I talked with Rian and Cass for a few more minutes before I finally dosed to sleep.

Do you guys think Alex should have told Jack the truth about the accident? Also Dr. Fey is Tina Fey, I couldn't think of any other actress.
