"Baby, please don't let him bother you." I say, giving her a hug and a kiss. "He's just here to visit. He won't be here forever."
"But for christ sake Jack, we're adults now." She cries, "I don't understand why he always feels the need to come up and put me in tears and make me wonder why I'm here."
"You shouldn't be wondering why you're here." I begin to explain. "You're here for the guys, your girlfriends, me, your family, my family, but most importantly, you're here for Amy. You're here for your daughter."
"Yeah, I guess." She sniffles.
"Think about this for a second, hun." I say to her. "What would Amy do without her mother to eventually look up to? I mean, I know she's too young to do it now, but eventually she's going to need her mom to look up to. Don't ever question why you're here, please."
"Ok." She answers. Even though she was ending the conversation, I knew that she was still hurting inside. We finish up our grocery shopping and head our way home to lay down and rest for the rest of the day.
As soon as we go home, I start to make some Mac N Cheese for lunch, knowing that it's Megan's favorite in hopes that it might cheer her up. After the Mac N Cheese is done, I call her into the kitchen to have some.
"Oh, thanks hun." She says under a sigh.
"Babe, is that whole thing really still bothering you?" I ask her concerned, walking up and putting a hand on her cheek.
"Yes, I don't even really care that he said what he said about me." She sniffles. "It's the fact that he punched you in the face and talked shit about Amy." I watch as a tear falls from her eye and I wipe it away giving her another kiss.
"I know, but luckily Amy is too young to understand. Besides, you know that what he said about her isn't true, so try not to let it bother you." I tell her softly.
"And what about what he did to you?" She asks as she looks up at me. "He hit you. I never thought he would go as far as to physically hurt you just because of me. I'm sorry. You really don't deserve this."
"Hun, don't worry about me. I'm fine." I say to her, still rubbing her cheek. "And don't tell me I don't deserve you. We've been through this. If you didn't deserve this, you wouldn't have it. It's not like I asked to be with you because I felt bad, or married you to make people think I sympathize. I love you, ok? More than you'll ever know. I can't tell you who I'd be without you."
"Thank you baby, I love you too." She smiles. "Thank you for talking to me. Want to see the others today? It's been a while since we've just hung out with them, and plus we haven't seen the girls since Easter which was over a month ago."
"Yeah, why not?" I respond. I dial all of them up, ask if they would like to come by, and they agree to be over in a few minutes. We walk into the living room and sit down when Amy starts to cry. I pull her out of the seat and begin to give her a bottle. As I'm feeding her, the pals show up at the door and Megan lets them in.
"Oh my gosh, she already looks so much bigger from last time we were here." Cassadee squeals as she sits on the couch next to me, watching Amy drink from her bottle.
"How's everything going with the baby?" Katie asks as they all walk in and sit down.
"She's good. She's gained a couple pounds, so she's like 9 and a half pounds." Megan explains, "She's also really healthy, so all in all she's perfect."
"That's good to hear." Tay smiles. "What about the tour? Did you guys enjoy that?"
"Yeah, it was amazing." Alex answers. "Megan sang Remembering Sunday with us since Cass wasn't there, and then Pierce The Veil let her sing Hold On Till May with them."
"And, because she had to do all that, Pierce The Veil babysat Amy during our set when she was on stage, and Jack had to play his father role during Pierce The Veil's set." Zack adds.
"Oh wow, that's different." Tay laughs. "At least you guys had fun."
"Different topic, when are you and Cassadee going to get married?" I ask Rian.
"Actually, we were planning on this summer." Rian smiles looking over at Cassadee.
"Aww, that's nice." Megan smiles. "I can't wait." We continue to chat about the wedding, decide to eat dinner together, and they all head home afterwards. After getting Amy to sleep in her crib, Megan and I lay in our bed.
"So, do you feel better after hanging with everyone today?" I ask her.
"Yeah, tons. I think that's really just what I needed." She smiles. I lean in and give her a kiss before her and I decide to go to sleep, knowing that Amy will probably wake up at some point in the middle of the night.
