The Blink Show

Chapter Eight: Carousel

I talk to you every now and then
I never felt so alone again
I stop to think at a wishing well
My thoughts send me on a carousel.

Alex's p.o.v.

"Alex, you're up!" The security guard yelled. I swear I stopped breathing for like more than ten seconds. Oh god. They'll hate me. A guy walked up to me, passing me my acoustic guitar that I gave to James. James must of gave it to him. I kindly, but nervously grabbed my guitar off him. I could feel the feeling that someone's eyes were digging into me. I placed the guitar over my shoulder, making sure it was comfortable for me. I then turned to Jack.

Jack was weirdly looking up and down my body. I felt an instant blush form and I ducked my head, pretending to check the strings of my guitar.

"Oh, and Alex? You're dad said you'll do fine. He said don't forget to show your personality on stage!" The security guy shouted. I rolled my eyes, finally looking up to be met with Jack's brown eyes. I then left his eyes, looking as the band on stage were waving and saying goodbye.

"Good luck, by the way." I heard Jack.I slowly took my eyes off the stage, searching for Jack. He was smiling widely, his small dimples showing. I nodded, smiling back at him and dropping my hands away from where I was nervously playing with the strap.

"Thank you, Jack. I guess I'll see you later, maybe?" I chuckled. I moved my eyes back to to the huge stage. I wish they would hurry up saying goodbye because I am literally going to die if they take any longer.

"If you want." I heard beside me. I snapped my gaze from the stage and looked at Jack with confusion.

"Huh?" I asked, biting my lip through nerves. What if everyone out there hates me? What if I can't sing as good as I thought I could? Oh fuck, what if I forget my lyrics? Calm down, Alex.

"Well, if you would like to meet me again back here? I don't know. You seem cool." Jack smiled nervously, his eyes now averting to the stage.

"Maybe."

"Have fun, buddy!" One of the band members that just played the show patted my back. I chuckled through nerves. I have to go up now.

"Seeya, Jack." I smiled, hugging my guitar around me. He look down at me as he was slightly taller.

"See you, Alex." He said. I bit my lip again.

"Hey, you're going to be great, don't worr-"

"Alex, stage. Right now." The security guy called a bit firmly. I gulped.

I moved to Jack's ear, whispering,"I'll meet you back here." I quickly walked away from Jack and on to the stage. As the crowd finally heard me, they started screaming. I was obviously confused. I thought they would be quiet as I'm new here. Don't get me wrong, I love the encouragement. I waved to everyone, nervously walking up to the microphone. Don't be afraid to show your personality on stage. I got close to the microphone. The stage is so fucking hot.

"Hey guys, my name is Alex DeLonge and I would like to thank y'all for coming out tonight!" I shouted nervously into the microphone. I was just memorizing what my favorite bands say on stage. They're more energetic than me and have more confidence. I could hear cheering over the crowd. Shit, what do I say now? I gulped nervously.

"All my songs are going to be acoustic- I hope you don't mind. Anyways, this first one is called Weightless!" I shouted. I was hoping to play my electric guitar but then I remembered that there were no drums or bass to play along with me; it would've sounded weird by it's self. I started playing the intro of Weightless, hoping and praying that I won't Fuck up. Cheers could be heard as I began singing.

After Weightless, I had completely forgot about my nerves. I never knew playing on stage could be this fucking good and fun.

"This next one is Time-Bomb and I hope you enjoy it." I said a little quietly into the Mic. Okay Alex, here we go.

"Has anyone told you that you are fucking beautiful? Because damn, all of you here deserve to hear that every single fucking day!" I said confidently into the microphone, looking over the crowd. I had finished playing my second from last song: Six Feet Under The Stars. I chuckled as I saw a man swinging his white top in the air. I could hear loud screams echo through the building.

"You're hot!" Some girl screamed.

"So are you, babe," I winked into the direction where I think it came from. More yells and screams could be heard. The smile on my face was growing and growing.

"Alright, alright, alright," I perked up, walking around the stage a little.

"This song goes out to who has ever been told that they are crazy and need help. When in reality, all you need is a big fucking warm hug!" I said into the microphone, now walking over to the stand. I plopped the microphone onto it's stand while my eyes looked into the huge crowd.

"This song is called Therapy." I said calmly, sitting on the high stool. I got comfortable, savoring the sounds of the crowd before plucking the guitar.

" My ship went down
In a sea of sound.
When I woke up alone I had everything: A handful of moments I wished I could change
And a tongue like a nightmare that cut like a blade...
"

I was nearly in tears from how quiet the crowd went just to listen to the song. I was also emotional from the song and the fact it's the last one I'll play here.

"I love you guys so much. Thanks for coming out today. I promise I will make an album for you sexy fuckers. Until next time..." I smiled widely. Standing up, grabbing the picks from my microphone and threw them into the crowd. I waved, walking off stage to the backstage.

"Holy shit." I muttered to myself. I looked up to see Jack stood the same place as when I left. I smiled to him.

"Hey." I breathed out, my heart racing. I can't believe I just played my first gig. Holy shit. Jack looked at me in shock. Well, I thought it was when, but when I heard my dad's voice, I knew it was at my dad.

"Alex, you did fucking amazing!" He said, opening his arms and giving me a short hug.

"Thanks dad." I mumbled. He stuck his hand up, wanting a high five. I high fived him an he walked off somewhere. I smiled to myself, proud that my dad was proud of me. I turned around to see Jack's mouth open.

"'Thanks dad'?" Jack asked, his jaw still slightly hung open. I shrugged.

"Yeah, why?"
