The Blink Show

Chapter Twenty-Two: Don't Leave Me

Don't leave me all alone
Just drop me off at home
I'll be fine, it's not the first
Just like last time, but a little worse

Jack's p.o.v.

Alex is really cute. Like, really, really, really cute.

Even though I say that a lot, it's completely true. I like the way he mumbles, the way the words come out his mouth so innocently and softly. I like the way he nudges me sometimes when he makes a joke. I like the way he uses his hands a lot while talking. I like a lot of stuff about him.

I like him.

Currently, we were sat on the field where the outdoor area was a few metres from us. I was picking the grass while Alex talked on about something to do with aliens and space. He's really like his dad, which was pretty awesome, if I say so myself.

"...I mean, what if aliens were actually..." I kept zoning out on what he was saying, but more focusing on how nice his voice sounded, and how interested he sounds while talking about the topic of aliens and space. It was really relaxing having him go on and on about something he was really into.

If only he were into me.

"Yeah, I'm probably boring you, I'm sorry." Alex said after a couple of minutes, and I took my eyes away from the grass in front of me, and looked at him.

His eyes are beautiful. The sun is reflecting on them, making them look lighter than what they really are. I could also see some sort of maroon colour in them as well. Really pretty.

"No, it's okay. I like listening to you." I smiled at the amazing boy in front of me, taking in more of his features before I looked creepy.

"Oh," He showed his dimples as he plucked a blade of grass from the floor. "Do you wanna catch anything to eat?" He asked, looking up at me.

"Um, can do." I was quite hungry. He nodded, and we got up.

We went out the main gates and walked along the path. I noticed Alex get closer and closer to me to the point where our fingers brushed every now and then. While he didn't seemed phased by that, but kept a sly smirk on his face, I kept blushing, quickly moving my fingers close up to my side.

We got to a little cafe not so far from the gates, and walked in. We went up to the counter. Alex asked me what I would like.

"Um, what you're getting?" I wasn't that bothered what I was getting. Plus, I didn't want to pick anything, because I felt rude, even though he was offering this.

"Okay. Well I'm just getting a sandwich and a coffee." He said, and then the man came to take our order.

We went to sit at a small table after we got our stuff. Alex handed me my sandwich and coffee, and I thanked him.

We ate and sipped our coffee in silence for the first five minutes until Alex spoke up.

"Tell me more about yourself, Jack."

And maybe I laughed, because he sounded like he was trying to be professional, like a doctor or a therapist.

"Um, I like coffee? Alex, I've told you more about myself than my own mother knows." I laughed.

"True. Hey, I have a question: how come your obsessed with my dad, but you didn't know who I was?" He asked, an eyebrow raised. Now that was a good question. I'm not even sure I could answer it.

"Tuff question. Um, I think I briefly remember you, but when you were thirteen, but like, it felt weird looking at photos of you. Ugh, this is hard to explain. I guess I knew you, then kinda...forgot." I was confused with myself, and that was frustrating.

"That made a little sense, I guess. It's just really strange,"

I nodded in agreement, but frustrated and confused with myself.

"Anyway, do you wanna leave? Oh, there's an arcade down the road from here, we should totally go." He suggested, a big smile on his face. I instantly agreed.

We left the sweet cafe, and Alex lead the way to the arcade.

Walking in, music from the machines, coins dropping and people chatting, could heard.

Alex walked up to a little machine that exchanged money. We got a lot of coins and pennies (A/N: hhhh, sorry, I know it's different for most of you, but I don't know anything about dollars and euros. :| )

"Mm, what should we do first?" Alex asked, giving me a little bucket full of pennies and pounds. I hummed, looking around.

"Uh, that?" I pointed to the machine with the metal claw inside...grabbing machine?

"Alright, but I'm no good." Alex chuckled, grabbing my hand as he leads me over the machine with colourful animals.

"No good, my ass." I laughed as he instantly got a teddy, crouching down to get it out the machine. It was a soft, cute stuffed lion. He threw it at me, and it landed on my shoulder. Nice shot, Alex.

"Um, thanks?" I laughed, positioning the lion so its face was facing Alex, but kept it on my shoulder.

"You're welcome," He smiled, and I really wanted to kiss him. But of course, I didn't.

"Let's go on the crappy penny machine things." Alex walked up to me, stuffing the lion down my top and walked off, making laugh. I pulled it out my shirt, holding onto it as I caught up with Alex.

Alex won a toy car, and when he threw it at me, I ducked, and it hit a security man on the forehead, making us quickly run out the arcade laughing, leaving the coins there.

"Alex, you're a wild beast." I giggled, and he nudged me.

"Only when I'm with you," He winked playfully, making me roll my eyes.

"Hey, isn't there a beach around here?" Alex asked, and I nodded.

"Yeah, right behind these shops." I pointed to the side of me. He looked, and hummed.

"Do you wanna go there?" He looked at me, giving me a sweet smile. I, of course, nodded, because going to the beach with Alex sounds fun.

We walked through the streets until we reach a corner, and as soon as you got there, you could see the beach. It looked amazing.

We got onto the sand, shells under our shoes. There wasn't many people here. About ten people. We began to walked along the beach, closely to the sea.

"I like this." Alex randomly said, making me turn my attention to him. He was looking at me with a grin, and I returned the look. I hummed in agreement, looking back in front of us.

We sat down on the sand, and I placed the lion on my leg.

We sat in silence, just staring at the sea in front of us. Seagulls were flying against the soft wind. Some people were playing in the sea, splashing each other.

I turned around to look at Alex to find he was already looking at me. I blushed, looking down at the lion in my lap.

"Jack?" Alex called quietly, and I looked up to him. I hummed, and he suddenly looked a little nervous. I moved a tiny bit closer to him; we were sitting quite close anyway. I heard him take a breath.

"Please don't freak out when I say this, and please promise you'll still stay as my friend, even when I say this?" He looked pleading, biting down on his lower lip. I nodded. What could he possibly say that'd make me want to lose him as a friend?

"Okay, well, I just want to come straight out with it before I chicken out like a pussy," he chuckled for a second, before taking another breath, "I think I like you. I mean, I know I like you, like, since the first time we met. Wow, I'm sorry, you can run off-"

"Me too." I interrupted him, giving him a shy smile. Hearing them words fall out Alex's mouth made me extremely happy. I would never picture Alex saying that. Well, I did picture it, but never became real until now.

"What really?" He asked, shocked. I grinned, and nod my head.

"Yeah." I answered. He quickly leaned up and gave me a quick peck on the lips.

"Sorry, I've been waiting to do that for a long time, and yea-" I cut him off this time by pushing my lips against his. It wasn't a long kiss, but it was still a kiss. A kiss that gave me a funny, good feeling in my belly.

"Fuck yeah, my son just got his first kiss!" We instantly pulled away from the kiss in shock and rosy painted cheeks when we noticed it was Alex's dad. Wait, Alex's dad.

Fuck, I still have a crush on that guy.
