Memories That Fade Like Photographs

When I woke up I couldn't help but smile as I looked over and saw Jack snoring slightly next to me. I remembered all that had happened last night which just added a blush onto my smile. Where had that burst of confidence come from? I quietly got up, trying not to wake Jack up in the process, and went to the bathroom to get ready for the day.

I came back out with a towel wrapped tightly around my waist and went over to my dresser. I was about to go back into the bathroom when a pair of arms wrapped around me. I jumped and let out a little squeak before spinning around. Jack gave me his signature goofy grin before kissing me on my forehead.

I gave him a smile and told him I would be out in a minute. I shot into the bathroom and got dressed faster than I ever thought was possible for me. Then again, I did have a very sexy boy in my living room who I've missed for the past five years.

I got out of the bathroom and Jack moved past me to get in. I went into the kitchen to make us some breakfast when I heard Jack calling out to me from the bathroom. I was worried that he got hurt so I dropped everything I was doing and shot back towards the bathroom.

“Jack? What’s wrong?”

“Oh, sorry, uh….. It’s just, I can’t call in sick again so I was wondering if I could borrow another pair of your clothes?”

I chuckled and went into my room to grab him a pair of clothes. I went back and knocked on the door, Jack opened it and took the clothes, giving me a small kiss on the lips as a thank you. I smiled at him and went back into the kitchen once he closed the door.

Breakfast was almost ready, I had made some eggs and bacon (normal breakfast, I know), when Jack came back out. He kissed my forehead and I had the same thought, yet again, about if this is what it would be like to live with Jack. If so, it would be amazing.

I served him his food then made a plate for myself. This time breakfast wasn't awkward, it was a comfortable silence. Jack’s phone went off then and he sighed before answering.

“Hello? Yes, I’ll be in soon. Just give me five minutes. Alright goodbye.”

“Your boss?”

“Yeah, he wants me in early today because I didn't come yesterday.”

“I’m sorry.”

I couldn't help but feel a bit guilty for making Jack skip work. When he suggested it I should have told him that he had to go to work. I mean I wouldn't change what happened yesterday for the world but I still felt bad for him getting in trouble.

“Lex, it’s fine. I don’t even understand why he is so strict about it. It’s not like we get a lot of customers. We get high school students sometimes but they’re mostly just girls who want to flirt with me. It’s truly annoying.”

I couldn't help but feel a twinge of jealousy after finding this out but I was glad that Jack found it annoying. I mean I knew he would never do anything with those girls, but it still upset me a bit.

“That’s okay. I need to go out job hunting today anyways. I was thinking about trying at the book store across from your work. That way we could walk to work together?”

He smiled and nodded then gave me a kiss before grabbing his stuff and heading towards the door. He stopped just before opening it then came back over and pulled me to him, kissing me as if the world was ending.

“By the way, we still need to get each others phone numbers.”

I smiled at him, still in kind of a haze from the kiss, and pulled out my phone so that he could put him number in it. He sent himself a text then kissed my forehead again before heading out the door, with a ‘Love you Lex!’ I couldn't help but smile and say it back to him.

I sighed as I shut the door behind me. In the past couple of days I've already found my true love and gotten him back into my life. I smiled again as I put my shoes on and grabbed my keys. There was only one thought in my mind as I walked down the road towards the book store.

I've never been happier.
