Chapter Nineteen
*Emma's POV*
I slowly pried open my eyes. It felt like each eyelid weighed a ton. I had no idea where I was, or why I was there. As my eyes slowly, very slowly, adjusted to the bright white room, I became even more confused. I slowly shoved myself into a sitting position. I looked around once again, trying to absorb my surroundings. Everything was a bright white and smelled of cleaner. I could see people in white uniforms bustling outside the door of this room. I heard the faint sounds of many feet running back and forth and multiple voices. Then it hit me.
A hospital. I was in a hospital.
A sudden loud snore brought my attention to my right. I spun my head in the direction of the noise.
There was another person in my hospital room.
Who was he?
Why was he here?
Was he here for me?
Wait, who was I?
I shook my head in confusion. None of this made sense. Why was I even here?
Another obnoxious snore pulled me out of my thoughts and I observed the boy to my right. I tilted my head slightly to the left as I let my eyes soak him in. He was kind of cute. He had very dark brown, nearly black, hair with streaks of light blonde through it. It reminded me of a skunk. And at the moment, his hair was quite messy. He was wearing a black hoodie over a Blink 182 shirt with black skinny jeans. I admired the way they hugged his legs for a moment before continuing scrutinizing the boy. He had his arms crossed over head chest as his head bobbed down, chin touching his chest. He was slumped in the chair in an uncomfortable position.
Suddenly, the door of the room burst open, and another boy entered. This one had on grey skinnies and a purple hoodie. his hair was light brown and much more well-managed than the other boy's. And he hadn't noticed my presence, apparently.
"JACK!" the second boy shouted. The attractive skunk-haired boy, presumably Jack, jerked awake and sat up quickly.
"Alex? What is it?" he questioned quickly.
"Nothing, dumbass, it's just that it's like noon. I'm assuming you're not going to school today?" the second boy, Alex, asked.
"No way," Jack responded, "Not without Emma." Emma? Who was Emma? My heart sank. He probably has a girlfriend. My already miserable mood seemed to get worse, and I didn't even know this boy!
"Hey, you never know, she may wa-" Alex turned to gesture to me then stopped. Jack followed his gaze and his mouth popped open. I looked at them and then behind me, confused. Were they staring at me?
"E-Emma?" the boy named Jack asked.
I tried to speak, but no sound came out. I closed my mouth, confused. I tried a couple more times before successfully audibly speaking.
"Who's Emma?"

Aw, well staying clean is hard to do, & I'm still proud of you even if it's only four days! If you were strong enough to last that long, then you could do it again c: & It's okay, I like what you've started so far on the sequel! <3
