Responsible
Witness (Alex)
Alex came by Jack’s house on his run; he had no idea where to go since this neighbourhood was new to him so he just ran to wherever he subconsciously went. The house was actually pretty nice, not too small, white and had a pretty garden with a small tree surrounding it. The smell of roses reached Alex.
He saw someone approach the house, a guy about his height, black hair, slim yet toned. He wore a black leather jacket and black jeans.
Was this Jack’s boyfriend? Alex removed his earphones and slowed down. He saw the guy walk up the stairs to the door and open it. He heard him shout a greeting - incomprehensible words aimed at Jack. He snuck a little closer and could hear something that sounded like cursing. Before he knew what was happening, he saw how the guy dragged Jack to the door and pointed at something on the front porch. He noticed the white knuckles of the guy, white from grabbing Jack’s arm too hard.
Alex felt sick as he witnessed the guy hiss angrily at Jack. The man dragged Jack back inside and slammed the door. He heard some muffled shouting and a bang. He already wanted to leave but then he saw Jack through the window. He looked unhappy with the guy following him closely. For just the blink of an eye, Jack looked outside through the window. He spotted Alex and his eyes widened a bit. He smiled forcedly but then was pushed forwards by the guy.
The smell of roses seemed to get stronger and stronger.
Alex stood there for a bit longer before leaving. He felt horrible; anxiety mixing with anger. He now knew that Jack was in real danger; this guy was a choleric. But what could he do?
He needed to get Jack away from his boyfriend. He knew that it would be difficult getting Jack to leave him so he would try to gradually loosen his ties to the “boyfriend”. Alex snorted through his nose. This was not a boyfriend. A boyfriend should be loving and caring, no matter whether in a homosexual relationship or a heterosexual one.
But how to achieve Jack getting away? Maybe he could try to talk to him after every service but Alex realized this wouldn’t be enough. He needed something better. He thought about it for a bit until it hit him.
Maybe… just maybe he could ask him to help in church? With lighting and readings and all that? Alex smiled. He would try and talk to Jack. He just hoped that asshole of a boyfriend would not hinder Jack.
