Responsible

Shaky Knees (Jack)

Jack

It was 2.30 pm. Jack was sat in his tiny office cubicle and struggled to stay concentrated. The fact that there was a possibility to talk about it to Alex, someone he could trust, was keeping his mind busy. He didn’t trust the people at the office and feared for his job. He just kept telling the story of being very foolish and he had actually tried make-up for some really bad bruises in the past. He didn’t really have friends so one group less to hide before.

He felt hope at the thought of Alex maybe making him feel better. He didn’t want to hurt Matt by leaving (which was completely irrational, Matt hurt him way more for every single day they were together) but he himself knew that it was dangerous to be together with that man. But leaving was dangerous too. So he stayed with him for now, did the only things he knew, obey and take whatever would come.

But if he went to Alex? Could Matt find out? A cold shiver overcame him as he imagined Matt’s reaction. Him, Jack Barakat, meeting another man without Matt being around to keep everything under control. But he would be able to keep it a secret. He just had to.

He looked at the clock. 2.40 pm. He should get going very soon if he wanted to talk to Alex. He hesitated for a few more seconds but then stood up, grabbed his things, and left. He told the people at the reception desk that he felt sick and he was allowed to leave. He hurried and soon arrived at his destination.

The church smelled of a bit of incense and old wood. He calmed down at the familiar smell and walked over to the cabin with shaky knees. He was quite nervous but tried not to panic. One of the compartments’ curtains was closed so Jack assumed it was the one with Alex inside. He staggered up the little stair to the cabin’s entrance. He went into the unoccupied one and sat down on the cool, hard, wooden bench. The cabin was small, only giving the place for two very skinny people. Between him and the priest’s cabin was a grid so that he was not able to see Alex directly.

“Hello, I’m Alex. Nice to meet you. What would you like to confess today?” a soft voice said from the other side. Jack tensed up but then he remembered that he was safe. And he started talking.

Oh god thank you! Um, you can check out my mibba here; I posted a few oneshots in the meanwhile and I've started a new story on there but I'm not posting it on here because it's Alex/John O'Callaghan and people on here don't seem to read anything else but Jalex. But yeah check it out if you want, I try to post a chapter every couple of days :)
