Was it Real? Or a Love Scene.

When I finally arrived at the hospital it was about 5 in the morning. They had gotten Sky in and treated her but wanted to keep her under supervision so we were stuck at the hospital. Leaned up in the chair right next to her bed with my arms crossed over my chest I decided 5:37 am was a nice time to attempt to drift off to sleep. I didn’t get to very long when someone suddenly punched my arm. "Ow!" I said and rubbed my arm sitting up and looking in the direction of the punch. “Hey, Booger. Good to see you up!” I said and smiled at her. She giggled and jumped into my lap.

“I wished it was Friday so you would come home and it came true,” She shouted but leaned closer to my ear. “I’m magic.” She finished with a whisper. I laughed loud and pulled her into my chest. “God, you’re so cute sometimes!” I said kissing her face. She yawned causing me to yawn. “Tired?” I questioned raising an eyebrow at her. “N.O.” She said breaking up the two letter word with another yawn. I huffed with a laugh pulling her closer to me and slipping into the bed. I pulled the blanket over Sky and she curled into my chest. “You should sleep, you need it.” Kissing her forehead she didn’t answer but just nodded and kissed my cheek. I smiled and closed my eyes for real this time.

By the time I opened my eyes again her doctor walked in. “Hey.” I said sitting up with my legs dangling off the bed and Sky still asleep. “Hello Ms.Colegrove.” He said handing me some papers. “She’s free to go, you both look like you need some real sleep.” He said smiling. “Thank you so much.” I said smiling and standing up grabbing my suitcase and Skylar in my arms. Her head leaned against my shoulder and my right arm holding her up and my left hand towing my suitcase behind us. I headed towards the check out counter and handed her the papers. She passed some back and switched arms and wrote my name across the paper.

I nodded to the lady before whispering a ‘Thank you’ She smiled back and waved. Grabbing my bag I headed back outside. The sun was bright and I pulled the hood of Sky’s Jacket over her head to block the sun. I walked down and sat on a bench before calling a taxi, considering that’s how I got here. I ran my hand up and down Sky’s back as she shifted and wrapped her arms around my neck. Eventually the taxi pulled up and I picked Sky up placing her in the seat, I didn’t think about a car seat but really what could happen on a 10 minute trip down the road, yeah we lived that far from the hospital, more like a medical center. I put my bag in the trunk and climbed in telling the man where I lived.

I hate taxi’s it’s so weird this guy knows so many addresses like what if he wanted to kill me while I slept! Yeah...maybe I do need some sleep. I checked my phone seeing like twelve hundred missed calls. I ignored them and looked at Sky, she was semi slumped over and drooling, it’s bad but I took a picture. I laughed to myself and we pulled up. I handed the guy cash from my wallet, my dad’s philosophy; sometimes you just need cash, that’s why they call it a cash emergency. So to this day I carry at least 50 bucks cash, hey if I get robbed whatever, I mean not stabbed but just robbed then it was only 50 bucks.

I picked Sky up and took my bag and walked into the house. Dropping my bag I headed up the steps and went to Sky’s room. The walls were pale blue with clouds and all the baseboards were green and looked like grass, then the ceiling was done dark blue with what seems like billions of stars and a moon. I did it and she wanted it so, plus she had those cool glow in the dark stars so. I tucked her in and left her room door open so she didn’t freak out when she woke up. I ran a hand through my hair before heading to my room, I opened the door and there in my bed was Will. “Oh shit,” I said dropping my hands causing my loud outburst to wake him up. “What the fuck do ya want?!” I yelled as I shut my door. He stood up and walked over to me. “I heard about Skylar and knew you guys would be back. I didn’t want you to have to deal with this on your own.”

He said walking towards me and trying to pull me into his chest. I jumped away and stared at him. “You fucking kidding me right now!? You cheat on me and expect me to be ok with it?!” I yelled. “Well yeah…” He said, I scoffed and ran towards him pushing him out of my room. “I figured since I told you I did we’d be cool.” He said as I forcefully pushed him towards the stairs. He took the hint and headed down. “I swear to god Will, you come back you’ll be leaving with no balls, a plate in your skull and a broken nose. Now leave!” I demanded as he left my house. I locked the door and could feel him pounding on the door.

I turned around and pressed my back to the door and fell down it. I let tears rise to my eyes and attempted to bat them away but no use. My phone began to ring in my back pocket and I pulled it out pressing it to my ear. “W-what?” I asked into the phone, slipping on my wording as I sniffled. “Paige? Are you ok?! How is Skylar?! Why are you crying?!” Jack yelled into the phone. I wiped my nose and looked around. “She’s fine and we’re home now. I’m ok.” I said and involuntarily let out a sob. “Hey, calm down.” “Jack I c-can’t. My heart h-urts so much ri-ght now.” I said stuttering through some of it. I let out some more crys. “I’m so sorry, but allow me to make you feel better. We’re coming down to you.”

I pulled the phone away and stared at it. “What.” I said not understanding. “We are coming down there. We’re actually getting on a plane now, what’s your address.” I froze, they were coming down here… to see me? “You are?” I asked shocked. “Sure am!” He said excitedly. I wiped my eyes and removed some make up wiping it on my jacket. “Gross.” I mumbled. “I mean unless you don’t want us to then we wont…” “No, it’s fine. I live near a hotel, if you want me to get y’all some rooms.” I said. “Ooh, yeah do that we didn’t think about that.” “Well, how many of you are there coming down?” I asked. “Matt, Rian, Zack, Alex and myself.” “Oh well then nevermind with the hotel, you can stay here, I have two guest rooms and we can pull Sky out of her room and she can stay with me.” I said smiling.

‘Paige! Just let me in, I need you!’ Will yelled from the other side of the door. “Will, go away. I’m done with your bull shit. And if you wake Sky I’ll kill you.” I shouted pulling the phone away from my face. It came back to my ear. “Was that Will? What’s he doing there, I thought he cheated on you?” Jack asked but before I could answer a loud crash sounded and I could hear Jack shouting something. “He cheated on you?!” Alex yelled into the phone. I pulled it away from my ear. “Holy crab sticks!” I said and brought it back. “Sorry.” Alex said. “Yeah, but I-” “I know, I was right.” He said. “Are you kidding me? I was gonna say threw him out.” I said annoyed at his answer. “Oh…” He mumbled. “Yeah you better get on that flight before I say no.” I warned as he tossed the phone back to Jack. “Hey, alright we’re boarding now. I’ll see you in about 2 hours.” He said excitedly. “Alright, see you. I’ll text you my address.” I added. “Ok.” He said happily before hanging up. I pulled myself off the ground and headed back up stairs.

When I reached my room, I looked at the bed and got a cold chill. You think someone’s amazing and then boom, douchebag in a matter of seconds. I pulled off my sheets and tossed them in the hamper and put new one’s on my bed. I went over to the mini fridge in my room, yeah mini fridge, and pulled out a Rockstar, popping the top I chugged half the green apple flavored drink. I went down the steps and plugged my phone into the docking station, after texting Jack my address and turned on my 5 Seconds of Summer playlist. “Where the hell is Eddie he was no where to be found!” I sang along with my phone as I picked up the kitchen followed by the living room.

I put all Sky’s play stuff in the garage where it belonged and came back in. The house almost in order I hear feet barreling down the stairs. “”Paigey-Poo!” She yelled running into the kitchen. I held my arms open and she ran into them. “Hey booger. How’d you sleep?” “Good, I umm, I had a dream!” She declared wiggling out of my arms. I put her down and she went to a stool and sat down. “Do tell.” I said and grabbed her an apple out of the fridge. “Nourishment?” I asked holding up the apple. “Cut it?” She suggested. “What do we say?” I asked. “Please.” I nodded and grabbed a knife, I cut the apple and put it in a bowl passing it to her. I took a sip of my drink. “My dream was about a marrying.” I laughed. “Wedding, Sky, wedding. Who was getting married?” I asked taking an apple and biting it. “You.” She said and bit one too. I choked on the apple, coughing up a lung.

“What?” I asked. “You.” She said again mouth full of apple. “Eat with your mouth closed.” I said and took another sip of drink. “Who was I marrying?” I asked out of curiosity. “Alex.” She said mouth full of apple again. “Alex who?” I questioned. “Alex Gaskerth.” She said and smiled. “Cool.” I said and picked her and her apples up and headed up stairs. “What are we doing?” She asked. “Getting dressed.” I said. “Why can’t we watch Nightmare Christmas in our jammies?” She asked. “We can watch it in our clothes, we got company coming.” “Is it Lana, she won’t care if I’m in my jammies.” She said as I tossed her on her bed. “Nope, it’s someone else.” “Is it Will?” “Nah, it’s All Time Low.” I said and pulled out some pants for her.

She ran over and gripped onto my leg. “You got them for me.” She said excitedly. I giggled and hugged her closer to my body. “Sure did, sweetheart.” She stepped back and I changed her into a Green Day shirt, dookie to be specific, and then some jeans. We walked into my room and I let her go into my closet pulling out clothes. She knows me so well, she grabbed a sweater and some jeans. I changed underwear and put on a bra, considering I haven’t changed since Jack and I. Then I finished and we headed down the steps. “I wanna play on my scooter.” Sky said to me. “I thought you wanted to watch a movie?” I asked pointing towards the T.V.

“Nah, scooter. Please?” She asked. I sighed but let her pull me to the garage. I hit the button letting the door rise. She grabbed her helmet and buckled it. I grabbed my skateboard and followed her out of our drive way and to the culdesac. We lived right on the circle. She’s going around me and will stop and watch me occasionally. I started doing tricks, nollies and kick flips mainly, they were my favorite. I went to the top of our driveway and rode down the hill and jumped over the manhole in the middle of the street, it was covered of course. I went to go up towards my driveway again when I heard a voice. “Hey, Paige!” Zack yelled. I smiled and took off on my board towards him. I made it and shot of the board and pulled him into a hug.

“Hey, Zack.” Then I heard a small crash. I let go of Zack and turned around. Sky was laying back on the ground with the scooter next to her. “Ow!” She yelled and sat up. “Walk it off!” I yelled back. “Ok, Lady.” She said causing Zack and I to laugh. “Hey.” Matt said. I smiled and said hey back before hugging him, too. Then Rian stepped out of the car. “Hello.” He said and pulled me in for a hug. “Paigey-Poo! Watch this!” Sky yelled. I turned and watch her go down a little of the driveway. I clapped. “Yeah, daredevil over here!” I shouted as she scooted over towards us. “Skylar, this is Zack, Rian and Matt.” “Hi!” She said excitedly running for Rian, she wrapped herself around his legs, almost causing him to fall.

Rian looked at me. “She’s fascinated by the drums.” I said and grabbed Zack’s bag. “Come on.” I said and he followed me. “I could have carried that.” He said reaching for it. I pulled away. “Just let me be a gentlemen.” I said mocking what he told me earlier in the week. The taxi pulled off and Matt, Sky, and Rian followed me. Sky was taking up a storm to Rian. “She adorable.” Zack said when we got into the house. “Yeah, she’s cool.” I said and smiled at him. Then my doorbell went off. I headed to the front door. I was engulfed in a hug. “Are you ok?” Jack asked crushing me in a hug. “I’m fine.” I said into his chest, muffled. He pulled away. “Good, that guy’s a jerk.” He said smiling at me. I nodded. Alex followed in carrying his and Jack’s bag. I pushed them out of his hands and pulled him in for a hug.

“Sky!” I yelled when I let go of Alex. “Yeah?” She yelled back. “Jack and Alex are here.” Little foot steps could be heard and she came through the living room from the kitchen and over to them. “EEEE, I’m Skylar!” She said going for Alex. He kneeled down and got a hug around the neck from her. She let go after one of her famous crushing bear hugs. “I had a dream about you.” She said to him. “Oh yeah? What happened?” He asked as she held out her hand and Jack followed and she high fived him. “You got marriaged.” She said. I laughed. “Married, Booger.” “Married?” He asked. “To whom, you?” He asked still kneeled on the ground, he poked her tummy causing her to laugh. “No, silly.” She said and I grabbed their bags and carried them up the steps. “To Paigey-Poo.” I got to the top of the steps. “Would I be lucky.” He said, I made it around the corner with a blush. That was so… confusingly adorable.
