Old Faces and New Places

Waking up the next say I felt Alex's warm breath down my neck. He looked so innocent when he was asleep. He looked nothing like the Alex that runs around making dirty jokes and kissing random girls. No this Alex was different, a kind peaceful Alex, the Alex I was engaged to.

Smiling to to myself I poked his cheek with my finger. His eyes fluttered open and he perched on his elbow with one arm still around my waist.

"Good morning love did you have great dreams about me?" Alex smiled connecting our foreheads.

"No but I dreamt about you getting out of my bunk" I smiled sweetly giving him a little shove.

He landed on the ground with an umph before helping me down. His hand placed lightly on my back and his other hand pressed gently on my hand as I jumped off of my top bunk.

"Good morning lovebirds! Have we resolved our problems" jack taunted us as he stood in front of us. He had this happy gleam in his eyes when he saw Alex and I jump out of the same bunk. He was such a mom.

"No" I cut in before Alex could breathe a word.

"Well it's all in due time" jack huffed as he slouched away to our makeshift kitchen five feet away.

Slipping my hair in a ponytail I checked my phone that was charging in the main room. it read one new message.

from: susan

message: hey ash! I'm in the states for sometime I'm in San Antonio right now call me if you're near would love to catch up:)

my mouth dropped, San Antonio was our next city and we were ten minutes away. I hurriedly pressed the buttons to dial my old best friend.

"Ashley!" Susan screeched on the other line

"Susan were coming to San Antonio meet me at Pop's Tex Mex restaurant in fifteen!" I practically screamed into the phone. After years I would be finally seeing my best friend from so long ago again.

The butterflies in my stomach grew as we got closer to the restaurant. When we finally pulled in I saw Susan sitting in a window booth. She turned her focus to the bus and her jaw dropped as she saw me get off of it. looking at her in through the window something about her seemed familiar.

When I sauntered in the aroma of delicious food drafted into my nose giving me a feeling of satisfaction. Spotting Susan I slid in across from her. The bus by now had parked out back and everyone was going to wait for me to finish up in here.

"I have missed you so much" I gushed grabbing Susan's hand and giving it a slight squeeze.

"You seem so much happier, I'm glad" she smiled pushing her hair behind her ears. When she did that it made her hair shine and look like it brown silk. I also noticed that she had cut it off to shoulder length.

"I'm really digging the purple" Susan giggled while taking a sip of her water.

"Im really liking you-" my voice stopped as my worst fears came true

"it was you in my dream! But I didn't think it would be true!" I yelled slamming my fist on the table, we got a few glares from surrounding tables but. I didn't care.

"What do you mean?" She played of innocent and nice but I knew who she was.

"You're the damn mystery girl! From the closet!" My voice got louder and Susan's face grew sadder.

"Uh- uh- yeah it's me" she dropped her head in shame

"well you have a lot of explaining to do" I grabbed her wrist and pulled her to the bus.

Short chapter! But we finally find out who the mystery girl was!
