The Next Big Thing

Chapter 13

Alex Pov
*One month later*
It’s been a month since mine and Becca’s fake fling in the closet. Needless to say all the gay jokes and rumors had disappeared. Becca, Jack, my family, and I had all spent Thanksgiving together, I always loved holidays. Most of my family kept asking me if Becca and I were dating, and I felt bad for Jack, he looked so jealous anytime someone mentioned it. We spent the rest of the month continuing dating and loving it. We had to make sure we didn’t act like a couple in school which had only meant we spent more time like a couple whenever we could, mostly in Becca’s house because our parents didn’t know. It was the first day of Christmas vacation and I was getting ready to leave for Becca’s house, to hang out with her, Jack, Zack, Rian, and Cass.

“Bye mom I’m going over to Becca’s.” I called to my mother.
“Hey Alex could you come here I want to talk to you.” She called from in the kitchen. I walked in to find her cooking, with my dad, and my aunt who was spending Christmas with us sitting at the table. “Alex you have been spending a lot of time at Becca’s, like a lot more than usual.”
“Yeah what’s the problem?”
“Well it’s just that we, your father and I, were wondering when you were going to start dating here.”
“Mom, Becca and I aren’t dating.” I said with a serious tone.
“Well why not? Becca is a lovely, beautiful girl. You should date her!” She said in a harsher tone than I used.
“Because I Don’t. Want. To. Mother.” I responded I only ever called her mother when I was mad.
“Alex! Maybe you should start thinking about it! You’re going to be graduating high school soon, you need to start thinking about your future! Start thinking about what you want to do with your life and find a girl to settle down with.” She said doing that little almost yell thing that isn’t really yelling, that only parents can seem to do.
“Mom! I am NOT going to date Becca! And I just turned 18 I’m still a CHILD why do I need to think that far into my future! I should just be enjoying my life!” I screamed back to her.
“WELL WHY NOT?” She said now turning from her food looking at me, while my dad and aunt looked towards me as well.
“BECAUSE I’M GAY!!!!!!!!” shit, Shit, SHIT. I just said that. I really just said that. Now they were all staring at me. I was just waiting for one of them to say something, but also fearing what they would say. Both of my parents were very religious, so they didn’t support being gay, they didn’t hate it, but for sure they didn’t support it. Then my aunt was there as well and she was one of the most homophobic people in the world.
“Alex… you’re, you’re gay?” my mom questioned well looking at me.
“Yeah mom I am.” I said.
“Oh my Lord. Peter you have to kick him out. You can’t have a fag living in your house.” My aunt said while looking at my father.
“WHAT THE FUCK? YOU DON’T LIVE HERE YOU DON’T GET TO HAVE A SAY IN THIS!” I yelled to her, because for real who was she to be saying all this.
“ALEX! Don’t say that to your aunt, she’s right I will not have a faggot living in my house, you have one hour to get your shit and get out.” My father said standing up.
“WHAT?! Dad-”
“I’m am not your father, because no son of mine will be a queer!”
“What? Mom?” I said turning to her with a sad look in my eyes.
“I’m sorry Alex.” She said turning away from me. I just turned and ran back up to my room. I found a duffel bag and stated putting a bunch of clothes in it. I also put in all my cds and anything else I felt was absolutely required for me to live. I put my guitar in its case and set it down next to my bag.

“Hey Alex what was with all the yelling, and why are you packing your bag?” Aaron, my cousin, asked as he walked into my room with a soda in his hand.
“Mom, Dad, and I had a fight. And I got kicked out.” I said, deadpan, without looking up at him.
“Whoa, what? Why?” He said with a look of shock on his face.
“My parents don’t want a gay guy living in there house.”
“You’re gay?”
“Yes.” With that he punched me square in the face, causing my nose to bleed and for me to fall onto my floor out of surprise. He then took the soda that was in his hand and poured it on my face, causing it to drip down my entire body. He then walked out of my room leaving me bleeding, dripping wet, and homeless. I stood up grabbed my stuff and walked out of the house, passing my aunt in the kitchen with an unapologetic look on her face and my mother by the door. I was going to just walked past her but she turned to me and said, “I’m sorry Alex. If there was anything I could do to stop him then I would-”
“Stop lying to my face. If you were really my mom then you would have stood up for me!” I spat while throwing by house key at her feet.

I walked through the bushes and up to my new home. I knocked on the door; even though it wasn’t needed I had a key. Becca answered the door in a sport bra and sweat pants, a look of concern crossing her face as soon as she saw me. “Hey Becca… Can I live here?”

Notes

I'm sorry I know Alex's parents aren't dicks, but for the sake of the story they needed to be.

Please comment because it makes me so happy, and inspires me to write more.
