Chapter Thirty Nine: Not him

"Jacky," Alex mumbled in Jack's ear, shaking him slightly. "I'm going to work." Alex told him.

Alex worked in a music store, and was thankful he didn't need college for it. You're probably wondering how they afford a two bedroom house with money coming from just a music store. Well, Isobel was helping pay their rent. Both boys, men, were grateful for it, and they made sure to show it.

"Okay. I love you." Jack mumbled into the pillow, still very tired. Alex smiled down at him, kissing his neck.

"Love you, too." He said, then exited the room, making Jack groan as he missed him already. Even though he was tired and Alex has been working at the music store since they graduated, he still missed the other when he went to work.

He let himself sleep some more before getting up because his belly was rumbling. He made his way downstairs, making himself something to eat before calling Isobel, knowing she wakes up at six everyday.

"Morning, Jacky-wacky." She cooed into the phone, making Jack chuckle at her happy mood.

"Morning, mum, how are you?" He asked. A couple of months after he moved in with the Gaskarth's, he started to call Isobel 'mum', because she sure as hell acted like one, and still does.

"Awh, I'm better than ever. How are you?" She asked politely on the phone, Jack imagining her bright smile on her face.

"I'm missing Alex, as usual." Jack pouted as he went to get himself a drink.

"Awh, what did I say, Jack. D-"

"Don't miss him too much, because he's not missing." Jack chuckled, cutting her off. Even though he had no idea what she meant by that, he still kept it in his head; like a reminder.

"That's my boy. Now, how are things with you and Alex?"

"Great, actually. Momma, you'll never guess what happened." He said excitedly, getting all happy.

"Did he propose?" Was her first guess, getting all excited as she was hoping he'd say yes, because she was sure as hell waiting for this phone call to come.

"No, not yet. But..." He waited a second to regain his breath, "He took my virginity." Jack whispered as if if someone else was to hear him, they'd scoop him up and take him away and lock him up. Jack was always the one to share everything with Isobel, even though he was quite sketchy with her at first. They did get along quite well, and Jack couldn't thank her enough for letting him join their family instead of going off into a stranger's family.

"Jack! Oh my graceus, my baby boy being all grown up!" She squealed, and Jack blushed a little, sitting himself down at the table with his drink.

"He even took things slow for me. He was making sure I was alright through the whole thing." He smiled, remembering how Alex had tried to comfort him when his ass was starting to hurt. Alex really cared, a lot, and Jack cared a lot about Alex, too.

"I raised my other boy good." She said proudly, proud of her son for being such a caring man to Jack.

"You really did, ma. Could I come on over?" He asked, taking a sip out off his drink.

"Oh course you can, Jack, you know that. I've baked you and Alex some cookies anyway, so be glad to come and take them." She chuckled, and Jack smiled to himself.

"Sure, thanks. I'll be over shortly, love you."

"You too, Jacky-wacky." And then with a chuckle, Jack ended the phone call. He drank the rest of his drink, going to the toilet and then grabbed his jumper and keys, making his way to Isobel's house, knowing Alex had fed Tinkerbell.

He knocked, and then walked in, smiling to himself.

"It's the famous Jacky-wacky." He called, going straight to the living room, knowing she'll be there. As soon as he saw Isobel, he hugged her and kisses her cheek.

"Hey." He smiled, sitting opposite her, on the sofa.

"Hello Jack, I've got some things for you as I missed your birthday yesterday." She smiled at him, reaching over the armchair, grabbing a plastic bag that was full of presents.

"You didn't have to do that, mum." He blushed, looking down at his fingers. Isobel chuckled at him, shaking her head.

"Of course I did, silly. Here." She extended her arm, and Jack looked up, shyly taking the bag.

"Thank you. Do you want me to open them while I'm hear?" He asked, setting the bag in his laps.

"Of course, silly." She laughed, smiling at her second son. Jack's cheeks darkened as he pulled out the card, knowing it's more polite to read the card first.

He read it, a wide smile tugging at his lips.

"Awh, thank you so much." He got up to go kiss her on the cheek, sitting back down to resume on opening his presents.

The first present he opened was a guitar tuner, and he giggled.

"Now Alex doesn't have to tune it for you every five seconds." Isobel laughed, smiling over at her second son on the couch, happy that he was happy.

"I guess you're right. I know he'll love this, too. Thank you, mum." He carefully wrapped the object back in the baby blue wrapping paper.

Four presents later, he was collecting (and sneakly eating) the cookies Isobel made, the box firmly in his hand, the bag of presents in the other.

"Well, mum, it's been great, but I have to head off home now, Alex will be home soon. Thank you for everything." He walked over to Isobel, kissing on the cheek and hugging her. Isobel kissed his cheek back.

"It's alright, hon. Remember to pop in again soon." She looked at him with happy eyes, proud of her second son. Jack laughed lightly at her, knowing she would remind him, even if there was no need to. Jack and Alex always popped it, (especially Alex), because they couldn't stand to leave her on her own all week without any company.

"Of course I will! You know that we will." He hugged her again, before she lead him over to the front door, a quick kiss of the cheek goodbye, and Jack was heading home.

As soon as Jack got in, he said hello to Tinkerbell before going into the kitchen to empty the cookies into the jar, then placed the presents at the far end of the kitchen, smiling at them.

He loved Isobel a lot. She's a kind soft-y.

He then started to cook dinner, knowing Alex will be home soon.

As soon as Jack had served the food onto the plate, Alex had came home.

"Baby, I'm home." He called, then the front door shut. Jack smiled as he heard footsteps against the lament floor.

"Kitchen!" Jack called, feeling excited that his boyfriend was finally home; he missed him a lot.

The next thing he knew, arms were wrapped around his middle and an Alex Gaskarth's face was hooked over his shoulder. He kissed his cheek, commenting on how good the food smelt.

"Go sit down at the table, Mister." Jack grinned, turning slightly to catch Alex's lips. Alex smiled into the kiss before pulling back, walking over to the table to sit down. Jack grabbed the plates and walked over to the table, placing Alex's plate down before sitting next to him with his own plate, and they began to eat.

"So, how was work?" Jack asked after swallowing the previous food in his mouth.

"Alright, actually. We had a lot of customers today," Alex smiled. "How was your day?"

"Well, I called mum as soon as you left, and went over to visit her. She gave me my birthday presents and her famous cookies. I missed you like crazy, though." Jack admitted, then rested his hand on the table, Alex immediately taking hold of it and intertwined their fingers

"I forgot to give you your presents yesterday. I was gonna give you them when we got home, but yeah. If you want, you can open them after we've finished eating?" Alex asked, setting his fork down.

"Yeah, sure."

"Hey, could you past the knife and butter?" Jack asked Alex after a couple of minutes, and Alex nodded, reaching over for said items. "Thanks." He said, picking up the knife and the butter lid, beginning to spread the butter on the bread, but it kept crumbling up. And he hated how this happened to him all the time, and rolled his head to Alex, giving him the obvious look he always does when this happens. Alex chuckled, getting up and went to help him.

"It's a good thing I love you." Alex pecked him on the nose, before continuing to help Jack.

You can't even spread butter on your bread, I thought you'd be used to it, because you seem to do it all night in the bedroom.

"Alex!" Jack gasped, smacking him on the arm. Alex jumped a little, snapping his head around to Jack, giving him a confused look.

"What?" Alex knitted his eyebrows together in confusion, not knowing why Jack randomly slapped him on the arm.

"You know what." Jack blushed, looking down at his fingers. Alex looked around him, trying to figure out what he had done wrong. When he found nothing, he looked back at Jack with the same confused face.

"Um, no I don't. What are you on about?" And when Alex asked that, Jack's heart skipped a beat.

"You didn't say anything involving me, butter and the bedroom?" Jack asked, confusing himself. Alex laughed a little.

"No. What the Hell, Jack?"

"O-Oh. It might've been hearing things." Jack forced out a laugh. Alex rolled his eyes playfully, going back to softening the butter with the knife.

"There, here you go." Alex handed him the knife back, then sat back next to him. Jack smiled weakly, still freaked out from what happened a couple of minutes ago, then continued to spread the butter on the bread.

"I missed you too, by the way." Alex smiled, his hand on the table.

What a fat liar.

A scream could be heard, and Jack shook his head, his heart beating faster and faster.

"Jack!" A yell could be heard beside him. He snapped his head to see a terrified Alex, looking at the table. Jack followed his gaze, and he gasped.

A knife was between Alex's fingers, luckily that it had not stabbed him. And what terrified them the most, was that Jack's hand was still on the knife.

"Jack! What the Hell?!" Alex quickly moved his hand to his chest that was moving up and down rapidly.

Jack just stared at the knife in pure shock and horror, his mouth hung opened. Alex was on the edge of tears, Jack obviously scared him. He got up, smashing his fork against his plate and ran upstairs.

Jack snapped then, his eyes wide in what he just did.

"I didn't do that." He whispered to himself, his hands leaving the knife as tears poured over his eyes.

No, you're right. You didn't. I did.

@Twat

oh Damn, sorry. Aldemar died because Jack had did what his father had done... Like, Jack had basically died for a moment, so Aldemar died and never came back when Jack did. I don't know if that makes sense. Maybe I should've included that.
