Holding On To Keep This Strong

Wasting Away

Jack spent the night at Alex's place that Friday. It was surprisingly easy to get out of the house seeing as his mother and Billie Joe hadn't even been home a full week. But he appreciated the freedom that he had. Although he probably would have snuck out anyway, in the best way he could put it he seemed to have found himself on withdrawal from Alex. He was just so used to spending every night with the elder and being able to see him whenever he wanted. So obviously it'd been a rough week on him. But his night at Alex's place had made up for it, most of it anyway.
-
"Jack, what do you want for breakfast? I can make chocolate chip pancakes." Alex asked leaning over the younger boy who was still snuggled under the covers.

"Cuddles. I missed you this week."

"I know I missed you too." Alex crawled back into bed, gently pushing Jack closer to the center of the bed. "Did you know I barely slept without you here?"

"Yeah, cause I barely slept not being here." Jack said through a yawn. "I don't like not living with you."

"A little over a week and a month and you can live with me...but it may not be here..." Alex said pausing which only made confusion arise in Jack.

"What do you mean not here?"

"I quit my job. I'm gonna move after this year."

"You what?" Jack almost shouted, turning on his side to face Alex.

"I know how you're going to school down state, yeah? Well my dad is friends with the supervisor of an English department at a high school there...I interviewed over a video and phone and I got the job. I'm only doing this for us y'know."

"So that meeting with your supervisor...? It was just so you could quit?"

"That and I'd mention it before so he was trying to get me to stay. They are actually rather fond of me."
"Wait...you're packing up your entire life here just for me?"

"No, I want to be closer to my dad too." Alex said in a rather matter of fact tone before laughing. "But it's mainly for you, yeah. I wanted to wait awhile before telling you but I realized I'd have to tell your class sometime next week, so..."

Jack cut him off with a chaste kiss, simply using it as a gesture and a nicer way to quite Alex rather than telling him to shut off.

"Thank you Lex...you know most times I feel like you're the only person who gives a shit about me and then sometimes I feel like you don't care at all...but stuff like this, it totally proves me wrong every time. I don't think anyone could possibly care about me as much as you do."

"I love you too." Alex smiled, connecting their lips again, each of them pressing close, soft skin pressed together innocently yet full of ardent lust.

Jack pulled away after a few long moments having found himself pinned beneath Alex. "Wait, Lex...not now." He panted, Alex now kissing his neck and more than likely making blood rise and breaking tiny vessels. "Not today."

"We only go as far as you want, okay?"

"No...just...I don't know...last night was a little rough."

"Oh..." Alex said, trailing off and moving off of the younger boy to lay on his side. "Im sorry, I didn't mean to push you that far."

"You didn't push me Lex. You weren't the one asking for more all night." The younger giggled planting a small peck on Alex's nose. "I wouldn't have asked you if I thought I couldn't handle it."

"Okay, I still feel bad though. I wore you out."

"Not that much babe. I'm just not feeling it today, which is weird cause I usually am always up for getting you to suck my dick."

"Shut up. I wasn't even going to blow you."

"Sure you weren't." Jack chuckled teasing the elder.

"Okay, we are done with this conversation. I am going to go make those pancakes and you can meet me in the kitchen."

"Oh come on, Lex. Don't be mad."

"I'm not, I'm genuinely hungry. And this was reaching a really weird level of awkward."

"But you liked it."

"Sure." Alex said flatly rolling his eyes as he got out of the bed. "Like I said, pancakes."

"Okay." Laughed Jack teasingly.

A few hours later and the pair were saying their goodbyes'. Sadly Jack had to go home since it was already relatively late in the afternoon and he'd promised his mother that he and Billie Joe would spend at least a little time together today. He'd only agreed since it made her happy to see them at least trying to get along. Which had happened to be a much easier feat than Jack thought it would be. Billie had been much nicer and the gay jokes had nearly stopped completely. If he weren't speaking too soon Jack would say things were actually looking up at home. All aside from the fact that he and Alex weren't together bye he guessed he could handle that for the next month.

The teen made it home not long after and in a much better disposition than he'd been in all week. Alex often had that affect on him. Not that anyone else in his house would notice since he quite generally kept to himself. Maybe that would change tonight since he was stuck spending time with Billie Joe but it probably wouldn't. More than likely they'd end up watching a tv show together before Jack retreated to his bedroom and invited Zack over. Same old routine but Jack rather liked it that way.

"Okay, I'm going out boys. I may spend the night at my sister's so don't wait up." Jack's mother called into the living room where her son and Billie Joe were sitting on the couch watching tv. Each of them only mumbled something barely audible in response, both completely engrossed in the show they were watching. "Men." She muttered to herself. "Bye, be good."

More grunts in response, neither if then really caring about what she had to say but instead trying to figure out what the hell was going on in the show.

By the next commercial break Jack was ready to give up, he didn't know who half the characters were or why the fucking sky was falling. Maybe he'd have to check it our from season one because he rather liked the show itself.

"Hey, I'm gonna go get a beer...do you drink?" Billie Joe asked, grabbing Jack's attention.

The teen bit his lip in thought. "Are you offering me a beer?"

Billie Joe shrugged. "Yeah, maybe."

"Then I guess I'll take one."

His step father nodded and stood up from the couch, disappearing into the kitchen.

A few moments later Billie Joe returned with two beers in hand, passing one to Jack who gladly accepted it. He took a swig of the drink without thought, enjoying how the bubbly liquid slid down his throat. It'd been quite awhile since he last drank seeing as Alex had only kept wine in his apartment. And though he hated to admit it he'd quite missed the taste of beer.

...Then he didn't feel so great...he'd finished the beer, just one bottle. Yet the room was out of focus and his vision hazy. Which definitely wasn't right but he couldn't bring himself to speak no matter how he tried to move his lips no words came out. Then someone was on top of him and his vision completely went black.

Okay I normally cringe at student/teacher fics, but cuz it's a 6 year age difference, I gave it a shot. This story is so great! The ending is beautiful. My eyes are watering. Not even kidding.
