Holding On To Keep This Strong

Accidents Happen ; We're Here To Make It Better

He shouldn't have let this happen, not at all, he should've kept himself distanced from Jack and left the kid alone, he should have...there were so many of those that Alex knew he should have been concerned about rather than how Jack was.
All Alex really wanted to know was why Jack had ran away, he knew very well that he could lose his job for this and even get in much more trouble over this but all he could think of was the black and blonde haired teen's well being.
Had he scared Jack away? He doubted it, Jack had kissed him ...Alex was drawing blanks left and right. How the hell had this happened?
The teacher let out a sigh and opened his apartment door flicking the ceiling can lights on. Oddly enough he knew he couldn't drown out the world in books tonight, aside from having to grade his student's papers the whole Jack situation had him too wrapped up in his own mind. Alex decided to take a pass on grading knowing his students would be grateful for not having homework the next day. He pulled out his cell phone and dialed Kyle.
"Alex, Baby! I haven't heard from you in forever. I'm coming over right now."
"Kyle Burns you live an hour and a half away. You're not coming over."
"I left my place an hour and a half ago. I'm parking out front now."
"Have I ever told you how much I love you?"
"Not enough." Kyle laughed. "I'll be up soon."
Alex smiled and hung up, Kyle had been his friend since freshman year of high school, they'd roomed together in college, which Kyle was still attending, and had done practically everything together since they'd met. Alex had missed him much more than he'd thought possible since he'd moved into his own place, he'd almost asked Kyle to find a school near his place and move in but no matter how tempting he couldn't ask that of his friend.
Two knocks at his door pulled Alex away from his thoughts and he went to the door opening it, platinum blonde standing in front of him with that flawless trademark smile. Kyle wrapped his arm's around the teacher's neck and pulled him close. "I swear this place just starts to look more and more like a mad man's lair." Kyle chuckled as he walked in pulling a suitcase behind him.
"Ky, why do you have a suitcase?"
"Oh I forgot you don't have a TV." the blonde rolled his eyes. "Campus is closed, some chemicals and it's quite a long story I can tell you over dinner, you have food here right?" Kyle smiled and shook his head, Alex was known for becoming so engrossed in his reading he'd often forget to buy basic things.
"Yeah, I went shopping Saturday. I've still got pasta and stuff that's edible."
"Good...the kitchen's clean right?"
"Yes, Mother. I recycled all of the news papers yesterday, well except for the Times, there's a really interesting article in there on-"
"Shh, leave some things a mystery darling." Kyle giggled and walked further into the apartment leaving his suitcase at the door.
The teacher just shook his head and followed, along with being apart from Kyle he'd forgotten just how annoying his best friend could be. But he loved him nonetheless. - Jack sighed and rolled over, his head hanging off of the bed. His eyes were still puffy and almost hurt to be open, which sucked almost as much as his thoughts that kept straying to his English teacher. He almost wished he let Zack come over after school, almost. He still needed time to himself to think and actually get homework done.
The teen sighed at the buzzing of his cell phone at the edge of the bed, he almost hoped it was Alex, but he knew that was just wishful thinking.
"Hello?"
"What'd you do to Gaskarth?" Rian's voice sounded on the other line.
"Ugh, nothing. Go away."
"I'm not with you dumb ass therefore I can not and will not go away. Now what happened? He looked like...defeated in class today. I thought it might be personal stuff but like he's twenty three and like happy guy all the time, speaking of you're so losing that bet, and then I thought about lunch today...all signs pointed to Barakat-dale. So whats going on?"
"I'll talk to you about it later, or not. I don't know but I'm not faring well either. Just...I don't know. I'm gonna call it a night, please don't bother me, I love you Ri but there's just a lot going on."
"Alright, I'm there for you though. And even though this is weird and everything, he cares about you, that much is obvious. I just thought you should know."
"Yeah, thanks. See you."
"See you."
Jack sighed and hung up his phone.
This was not okay and all he'd done was kiss his teacher once. He could only imagine what would happen if he and the teacher went past that..but he desperately wanted it.
Jack was pulled from his thoughts once more at a knock on his door.
"Come in." He sighed and moved his head onto the bed and covered his face with his pillow.
"Hey, Zack's here." His mother said softly, aware of her unintentional disturbance. Jack threw his pillow to the end of the bed and looked over to the doorway where his mother and best friend stood. Zack walked into the room and kneeled next to the bed, smiling softly at the younger teen.
"Your mom said it was fine for me to sleep over...is it okay with you?"
Jack nodded, he swore Zack had ESP sometimes because tears were already beginning to prickle at his eyes when the older teen pulled him into his arms. - "So you've gotten better at cooking." Kyle teased as he forked some more spaghetti into his mouth.
"Oh shut up, you're not much of a great chef either".
"Yeah but my new room mate is. He's no where near good company though. All he does is cook then do work and just, ugh. He's a culinary major so that's really the only benefit."
"He puts up with your drumming right?" Kyle nodded. "So there are two benefits to your new room mate."
The platinum blonde shrugged and rolled his cold yet warming blue-grey eyes.
"So hows the new job? Don't you have shit to grade?"
"Don't you worry about what I have to do. But I like teaching and I'm pretty sure my students like me."
"I wanna see what your class is like. Know what, I'm visiting tomorrow. They've got those visitor passes right? I'm coming, I can like pass papers and stuff, you'll never want me to leave after tomorrow."
"Oh, I wouldn't be so sure about that, Burns."
"Shut up, no matter what you'll always find me irresistible babe." Kyle laughed and stood from the small table taking his and Alex's plates to the kitchen since Alex looked to already be done eating.
And with Kyle's exit from the conversation he knew he'd have to let the platinum blonde come with him to school the next day whether he liked it or not.

Okay I normally cringe at student/teacher fics, but cuz it's a 6 year age difference, I gave it a shot. This story is so great! The ending is beautiful. My eyes are watering. Not even kidding.
