Holding On To Keep This Strong

Runaway

Jack woke up with a smile on his face, looking at his boyfriend who was still asleep. Alex looked ridiculously cute whit his messy honey streaked hair falling into his face and his mouth slightly ajar. And Jack was completely okay with Just watching the older boy until he woke up.
Almost fifteen minutes later and Alex's eyes were fluttering open, immediately smiling when he saw Jack.
"Goodmorning, kitten." Alex said before pecking Jack on the lips.
"Morning sleepyhead."
"Were you watching me?"
Jack blushed and nodded. "You look really cute when you're sleeping."
Alex rolled his eyes at his boyfriend just lacing their fingers together. "How bout we go make some breakfast before you head home, yeah?"
"Okay, just not pancakes okay?"
"Alright, no pancakes. Omelettes then?"
"Sounds perfect." Jack said before untangling his legs from Alex's and moving out of the bed. And until now he didn't notice just how much his ass hurt, well it wasn't necessarily painful...but he didn't feel all that comfortable either.
"Is the aftermath of last night kicking in?" Alex said wrapping an arm around Jack's waist from where he stood behind the younger boy, having gotten out on the same side of the bed.
"Little bit." Jack sighed. "I'll be fine though, last night was worth it."
Alex hummed and chuckled. "Okay, we should probably put some clothes on."
"You don't want to be naked? That's a shock." Jack teased laughing at the elder.
"Shut up, do you have a change of clothes?"
"Fuck, I left my bag in the car."
"S'alright. You can borrow a change." Alex smiled and kissed the younger boy's cheek. "You should just leave some clothes here, you're always over anyway."
"Next time I come over I'll bring some stuff." Jack said as he leaned back into his boyfriend, feeling his stomach growl. "But right now food sounds really nice."
"Okay, clothes first babe." Alex said leading Jack over to his dresser. The teen just rolled his eyes but complied because waiting any longer than necessary for his food...well Jack was not up for that.
Eventually Jack was pulling into the driveway of his house, frowning at the empty space next to his car. He guessed his mother had just parked in the garage, though it was unusual for her to do so. But Jack couldn't be bothered to think much of it seeing as he had thoughts of his amazing boyfriend to tend to.
The teen got out of his car, gathering his bag and presents from the backseat before heading into his house. Once he was inside he frowned once again, now actually growing concerned about his mother's car missing from the driveway. The house was dead quiet and there were no lights on. There was no way his mother and Billie Joe were still asleep, it was pretty late in the morning and Jack's mother was an early riser.
Fuck, this wasn't good at all. Jack went into the living room dropping his things on the couch. He rummaged around for his cell phone dialing his mother's number once he'd found it.
"Hello?"
"Mom? Where are you?"
"Didn't you read the note I left? Billie and I are going on a little vacation. I left my card and about six hundred dollars for you."
"Money isn't the problem, Ma. Where are you going?" Jack snapped, to be quite frank he had had it up to his neck with his mother's bullshit.
"I don't know."
"Well when will you be back?"
"A couple weeks? A month or two maybe?"
"A month or two? Are you listening to yourself?!"
"Jack I have to go. We'll see you when we get back."
Jack didn't even know what to say after that. Fucking hell, his mother had just abandoned him for however long and all she could say for herself was 'See you when we get back'? Well the way Jack saw it she could fucking shove it. "I hate you." He blurted out before hanging up his cell phone. And usually he would immediately regret saying anything rude to his mother or that directly hurtful...but right now it was true. He absolutely hated her with every fiber of his being.
Jack opened the front door of his house, a duffle bag slung over his shoulder. He couldn't stay there, not right now anyway so he was headed back to Alex's house. Sure he was going to his place unannounced but he knew the elder would understand so he didn't even bother calling. He just jumped into his car and drove.
Jack knocked on his teacher's door hearing a muffled 'its open' come from the other side. So the teen opened the door and shut it behind himself.
"Jay? What are you doing back here?" Alex said, rushing from the dining room area of the apartment over to where Jack stood.
"My mom..." Jack sighed, already feeling himself begin to cry. "Sh-she just left...she fucking told me they'd be gone for a month or two."
"Oh...Jay I'm sorry." Alex mumbled wrapping his boyfriend in his arms. "Do you wanna stay here while they're gone?"
Jack shook his head, trying to hold back his tears. "I-I couldn't do that to you."
"Jay you practically live here anyway. We'd definitely have to be a lot more careful but I wouldn't mind having you here at all."
"A-are you sure?" Jack sniffled pulling away from the elder.
"Of course I'm sure. Hell if you wanted me to stay with you at your place I would."
Jack nodded and went back to hugging onto Alex letting himself cry. Whether the tears be from anger or just pure hurt he didn't know. What he did know was that he needed to cry, he needed to just let it out. So he did, hugging tightly onto Alex hiding his face in the older boy's hair. And Alex let him, hugging Jack close letting him know that he was there.
-
"Lex, I've gotta go back to my place soon. My friends are coming over for a holiday party thing." Jack said. They were now in Alex's bedroom putting Jack's clothes he'd brought over into one of Alex's drawers.
"Thats fine. Do you know when you'll be back?"
"Not too late. All of my friends who have to be home by a certain time. Cept for Zack but I'll just tell him I've gotta so..."
"There's no rush, it's not like you have a curfew here."
"But I don't want to come in too late if you're sleeping."
"I don't care as long as you make it back safe and sound." Alex said pecking Jack's lips.
"Well you don't have to worry about that at all." Jack smiled and hugged the older boy. "But I'll be extra careful just for you."
Alex just smiled again and kissed Jack's cheek.
-
"Hey guys!" Jack greeted his friends who were all walking into his house.
Once they were all settled into the living room Jack decided it'd be a good time to give each of them their presents. In actuality he was really just avoiding talking to them about a, why his parents weren't anywhere to be found and b, what exactly had happened the night before. Rian was sure to tease him and Zack would probably grill him on what a bad decision he'd made. So to say the least he would like to avoid that topic for as long as possible.
Eventually everyone had opened their presents, Jack being rather happy with each of his gifts and his friends reactions to theirs.
"So Jay what'd you do last night? I called your phone like three times and got no answer." Zack said once the pair were alone in the kitchen, sifting through cabinets looking for snacks.
"Oh, sorry. I was at Alex's place. I turned my ringer off."
"But you didn't call me back at all today. I was worried."
Jack sighed and turned away from his best friend to look into another cabinet. "I know Zee...just, a lot happened today."
"Well what happened?"
"Can we not right now...It's still barely sunk in. So later, we'll talk about it later."
"Well does it have to do with Alex? Did he hurt you?"
Jack almost laughed at that because he could very well answer yes to that question and still be telling the truth. "No, he didn't hurt me not in an emotional sense anyway."
"What's that supposed to mean?"
"Do you not understand the concept of later?" Jack laughed and turned around, now holding a bag of pretzels. "I guess I'll tell you with everybody else, come on."
He lead the older, and slightly angry, teen into the living room were Rian and Casseedee were snuggled up next to each other on the couch. Jack was really dreading this conversation but he thought he might as well get it over with. After all his friends were his only support group outside of Alex and his dad and brother. And he was able to tell them things that other than Alex no one would or was allowed to know.
"Hey! He's got food!" Rian exclaimed jokingly making Cass roll her eyes. "I thought your kitchen would be empty with how many people come over here on holidays."
Jack just shrugged and tossed the bag over to Rian before sitting down next to Zack on the couch across from his other friends. "I honestly don't know who was over here last night."
"Weren't you home?" Rian asked frowning.
"No, I went to Alex's place after I left my dad's yesterday."
"Wait, so instead of visiting with your family you went to see your boyfriend?"
"Please don't start with me, Billie Joe's family is not my family, okay?"
"Touchy. So, what did you guys have romantic butt sex." Rian teased, laughing causing Zack to suppress
a laugh too. But each of them soon stopped when they noticed Jack blushing and looking down at the floor.
"Wait, you didn't! ...Did you?" Zack asked, staring at Jack in concern and Jack was also pretty sure he was upset too.
"We did..." Jack admitted blushing even brighter. "Real talk, my butt still kind of hurts." He chuckled, looking away from each of his friends."
"You bottomed?" Rian almost laughed. "Wait, Cass you haven't said anything...you knew about this didn't you?"
Cass nodded at her boyfriend and looked over to Jack. "He knew you two would be insensitive," she shoved Rian lightly at that. "Or stupidly upset," this time she looked over to Zack who was obviously sulking.
"Its not stupid...it's just, what of they weren't safe? And even if Jack thought he was ready he probably wasn't. And Alex has more than likely done it before, what if he-"
"Zack!" Jack exclaimed, growing more annoyed by the second. "Do you hear yourself? It was my choice, nothing was rushed, Alex was the sweetest most patient person the entire time, and I was more than ready. And if I wasn't I wouldn't have done it, okay? So stop being an uptight asshole."
"Yours isn't so tight anymore." Rian muttered earning a slap on the chest from Casseedee.
"Both of you are terrible, my God. Do you understand why I only told Cass now?"
"No, I don't." Zack said, frowning at his best friend. "You know I trust the decisions you make...just sometimes I worry that they're not the right ones. And I know it's not my place but I really can't help it when I care about you so much."
"Zee...just stop worrying. You know I'm fine, you know that, Alex treats me like a fucking prince. If anything was wrong with us I'd tell you in a heartbeat...but it seems like whenever I've got something good to say about him you just worry more." Jack sighed and ran a hand thro his hair. "You told me to be brave enough to just suck it up and let myself fall for him...but now its like you don't want me to be happy with him."
"Yes I do want you to be happy...I worry because I care...M'sorry for acting like a dick. I-I guess I'm not used to having you to myself all the time."
"Well don't you worry, you're always gonna be right here." Jack smiled pointing to his chest, right where his heart was. "And I'm always gonna be right there too." He said now pointing at Zack's chest.
"How are you two not a couple." Rian said, making his presence known since the pair had become oblivious to their friends.
"Shut up, no offense Jack, but that's gross."
"No offense but I feel the same way." The youngest of the group laughed. Sure that went pretty terribly but he was happy that his friends at least made an effort ringer over it and not make a big deal...at least Rian had.
"So, how was it?" Cassedee finally spoke up, clearly wanting all of the details of which Jack was reluctant on giving out.
"Good I guess...I mean it hurt like hell at first but after that it was kind of...amazing." Jack blushed but didn't fight the smile that formed on his lips.
"Can we please not talk about this?" Rian protested. "No offense Jack but I'd rather not hear about the things that go up your butt."
Jack simply rolled his eyes at that, ignoring Rian's complaint. "He freaking held my hand while we were doing it."
"La la la la la, I can't hear you!" Rian shouted, covering his ears with his hands.
"Real mature." Cass said looking completely unamused with her boyfriend. "Whatever, we can talk about it later Jay."
Jack shrugged and got up from where he sat next to Zack. "Whose up for movies?"
"I got dibs on picking!" Zack shouted, standing up to go towards the DVD case.
Jack crept into Alex's place at around eleven thirty, he knew the teacher would still be awake but he stayed quiet just in case. There was no sign of him in the living room and no sound was flooding from the kitchen so Jack guessed he was in the bedroom. He made his way towards Alex's room finding the door open and hearing the shower going from the adjoining bathroom. So naturally Jack went intonthe bathroom, not exactly caring that Alex was naked and stepping into the shower when he found him.
"You're back early." Alex laughed, peeking at the younger boy from behind the shower curtain.
"Yeah, I actually didn't have to kick anyone out tonight...it was kind of awkward."
"Well do you want to join me? You can tell me all about it." Alex smiled, looking adorable as usual.
"I don't wanna bother you Lex."
"You're not gonna bother me, besides we've taken enough showers together that it's normal."
Jack just shrugged and began undressing himself. But he was really thankful for how caring Alex was, especially tonight because if it weren't for him Jack was sure he would have lost it ; it being his sanity.
-
The pair snuggled up next to each other on Alex's bed, each of them feeling hot and almost sticky from not being fully dry. But neither of them minded, just happy to have the other's company. Well Jack more so than Alex since he was ranting about how overly concerned Zack was.
"Jack have you tried to see it his way? Honestly I can totally see why he'd be so wary of me. Just don't be so hard on him and he'll warm up to the idea eventually."
"I guess," he sighed and pressed his nose against the elder's bare chest. "I'll try not to...I guess I just want him to like you as my boyfriend and not just our teacher. Anyways you never told me how it was with your dad."
"Well where do you want me to start?"
"I dunno, what gifts did you get?"
...

Okay I normally cringe at student/teacher fics, but cuz it's a 6 year age difference, I gave it a shot. This story is so great! The ending is beautiful. My eyes are watering. Not even kidding.
