the Prince and the Punk

Please Text Me, I'm Waiting For You

When Alex has first given Jack his number, Jack hadn't intended upon texting him at all. But the next morning Jack couldn't help but enter the number in his phone and send a text off.

Jack: Hey 'lex! It's Jack!

Jack sets his phone down, not expecting to get a text for a while.

He had been up late and could be sleeping for all he knew. Suddenly his phone buzzes and he jumps.

Alex: Hey Jacky! good morning!

Jack smiles and types a response. Before long they're having a conversation and by the time Jack checks the time is already afternoon. A frown falls across his cheek when the expected text from Alex is replaced by one from Rian.

Rian: I saw a video of you running away from the papparazzi's on the TV.

Jack: Yep.

Rian doesn't respond, and Jack doesn't mind, he really preferred to talk to Alex at the moment, even if Rian was his best friend. Jack grins broadly when another text from Alex comes out.

Alex: I've gotta go do some music shit. But maybe we could hang out at your place later?

Jack: Sounds like a plan. :)

Alex: Sweet! Bye!Jack sets his phone down.

He had found out a lot about Alex from their conversation, and they were a lot more alike than Jack had even thought. And he felt his heart flutter every time he got a new text from him, and he'd actually set on some of Alex's music while he texted him. For the most part it was over poppy crap with bad lyrics, but he had a few good ones, "I Feel Like Dancin'", "Under A Paper Moon", and a few more. Jack thought he might sound better as a pop-punk singer, but that could probably be his own personal bias. After listening to a few of his songs Jack found himself being able to construct the text in Alex's voice.

And then Jack realized one undeniable thing:

He had a crush on Alex.

That wasn't necessarily a problem for Jack, he had come to terms with his bisexuality a long time ago. He really did like the nice Alex he had gotten to know, so he could picture himself dating him. The big problem was that he wasn't sure if Alex was interested in him. Also the fact the tabloids would rip poor Alex to pieces if they started dating.

Jack sighs and stands up, stretching for a while. He had sat in his chair so long he wasn't sure he'd be able to stand the walk to the club. Not for work this time, but because he performed their every Saturday evening. It was usually only for an hour before everyone started coming in, but the few people who enjoyed it came regularly.

Jack walks into his bedroom and hurries to dress and fix his hair. He moves to stuff his electric guitar in his case before pulling the strap of the case over his shoulder. He carefully wraps the cords around his amp and starts for the door. He really should invest in a car, but the club was so close it seemed pointless to waste money on that.

As he walks for the bar he considers what he should play. He'd definitely play his usual Blink covers and Green Day covers, but he thought maybe he might do a punk twist on a Whitney Houston classic (he knew it okay enough he was sure he could fake it), for Alex of course. Though he'd probably omit that part when he announced what he was going to play. It'd just be a "surprise" to the listeners.
