Jack POV

When I woke up, I was in Alex’s arms. Why? I thought I had fallen asleep on the floor? I hadn’t wanted to make him uncomfortable by sleeping in bed with him so I had moved to the floor. I was used to sleeping on the floor and I guess I didn’t deserve more anyways. So why was I in bed now? And why was Alex’s arm draped across my waist?

I sat up, Alex was right behind me. I carefully lifted his arm to get free and got up. The sun was shining into the room, glossy golden light flowing over things. It looked marvellous. I wanted to soak it up and so I sat down in a sunny spot, closed my eyes and enjoyed the warmth.

I had sat there for some time when I realized I could make breakfast for Alex. I walked into the kitchen and checked the fridge and the cupboards. Flour, baking powder, sugar: check. Salt, milk, egg: check. And, last but not least, butter and maple syrup: check!

Since yesterday I knew Alex would be okay if I used his kitchen although I still felt insecure. But I pushed the thoughts away telling myself that Alex would love the pancakes. I got out a pan and a bowl, mixed the ingredients and heated up the pan. I put it in and enjoyed the sizzling of the butter.

I waited for a few minutes and then tried if I was still able to throw them in the air to turn them and I was! It was great and I spent a few minutes just throwing them up and catching them goofing around. Finally they were done and I made the next portion. When all the batter was used up, I turned to my beautiful stack, separated it into two stacks and poured some maple syrup over it and put a little piece of butter on it. I added a fork and went to the sofa. The whole apartment was filled with the delicious smell of fresh pancakes.

“Alex…” I said in a sing-song-voice. He grumbled. I tried it again, a bit louder this time. He sleepily opened his eyes.

“Look, I made you something,” I said softly. He fully woke up and propped himself up on his elbows. His eyes were still tiny from sleeping, it was adorable.

“Wow Jack, you didn’t have to!” he exclaimed.

“I wanted to,” I said shyly.

“Well then,” he said with a smirk and a blink. I sat down on the sofa and gave him his plate and fork. He tried a piece of a pancake. “Mhm, mhm! They are delicious!” He licked his lips and I must admit that I liked that… a lot.

“Thank you,” I said, blushing a little bit. We ate some more in silence. Alex was finished first and set aside his plate.

“Thank you very much,” he said. I blushed even more. Why was I so blushy today? “How can I repay you?” he sighed. I didn’t dare to reply. “Oh! I have an idea! How about you stay here for some more and in return cook for me?” he offered with a sly grin.

I couldn’t believe this. He was actually offering me to stay here! But I couldn’t even cook that well.

“I’d love to stay here,” I answered. “But my cooking isn’t that good,” I added sadly.
“I’m sure it is fantastic, just like y-“ he cut himself short and blushed deeper than ever before. I felt frisky.

“Just like what?” I asked with a smirk. He mumbled something inaudible.

“What? I couldn’t hear you,” I said. He shook his head. “Pretty please?” I begged.

“Just like you,” he whispered. Now it was my cheeks’ turn to heat up and I giggled girlishly. He had to laugh and for a moment, we were just looking in each other’s eyes.

But just then his phone rang. He cursed under his breath and got up to get it. I let myself fall back on the sofa and sighed.

I couldn’t get the image of his dark eyes out of my head. And how it felt to be spooned by him. His scent…

Maybe my feelings were getting out of control.
