Long Live Us

Chapter Fifty Three

*Jack pov*

Despite being slightly disappointed he didn't wake up to head, Jack did get a super hot make out session before his boyfriend insisted it was time to get up and dragged him downstairs without even letting him pee. He was certain something was going on, but didn't know what, and just let his fingers tangle with Alex's as they walked down the stairs.
They walked into the living room, and Jack couldn’t help the grin that spread across his face. Above the fireplace was a massive, pink, banner that supported the words ‘happy birthday Jack!’, and in front of the fireplace was a pile of presents, the wrapping paper all different, bright colours. On the table was a vast array of food, all of which looked amazing.
“HAPPY BIRTHDAY JACK!” The scream made the boy jump, as the rest of his friends leaped out from behind the sofa’s and curtains, all smiling widely and laughing at his reaction.
“Oh guys, this is awesome!” Jack exclaimed, hugging them all before returning to Alex and re-linking their fingers. His heart swelled at his love for the people around him, and the fact that they had gone through all the effort to do something for him.
“Come on come on open your presents!” Jenna ordered, pointing to the pile with her cheeky grin, making Jack slightly suspicious, but he did as she said anyway.
Sitting crossed-legged, Jack began making his way through the presents, starting off with the ones from his family before getting to the ones from the guys around him. He reached out for the one that said ‘from everyone’ on it, thinking that would be good to start with.
“Hang on!” Rian said, putting his arm out to stop Jack just before he began to tear the paper. “Alex can’t be in the room for this one.”
Everyone began to suppress laughter, apart from Jack and Alex who looked at each other with confused expressions. The brunette slowly stood up, frowning, before leaving the room and bouncing upstairs.
“What the hell?” Jack questioned, still holding the present. “What’s going on?”
“You’ll see.” Jenna answered him, biting her lip and nodding to the box he was still holding. Sceptically and fearfully, the boy ripped off the wrapping paper, and almost chocked when he read the title of the box. The others burst out laughing, doubling over and holding their stomachs or wiping away tears as the lanky boy just sat staring at the box.
“Kinky Sex Set... really?” he questioned, having no idea how to react, not sure whether he was freaked out or couldn’t wait to try the stuff out.
“Shhh! Now hide it and Alex can come back!” Zack whispered, leaving Jack to shake his head and put the box underneath the clothes he’d received.
“You can come back Lex!” He then shouted, waiting until he heard movement from the brunette before picking out the next one to open.
“I feel like you’ve all just been plotting against me, I’m gonna be freaked out forever now!” Alex exclaimed, slowly re-entering and looking around, as if he was waiting for something to happen. Jack chuckled at his reaction, smirking when he thought about what was hidden on his right. And yeah, as his eyes gazed over his boyfriends’ slender figure, muscular arms showing, brown hair glowing and his lips a perfect pink colour, he decided that he definitely couldn’t wait to use the set.

Within the next hour Jack had finished opening his presents and everyone had eaten breakfast, laughing and joking like they always would, before the plans for the day became the topic of conversation.
“Well, Alex drew the short straw and has you for the day.” Cass joked, winking when the tall boy gasped and acted offended, scowling at her.
“And then we’re all gonna do something later.” Rian finished with a shrug, Zack nodding next to him.
“Sweeeet. Where we going?” Jack said, looking at Alex with an innocent, attempting to look cute smile. The brunette smiled back, blushing slightly.
“You’ll see. Go and get ready, seeing as I got ready when you guys started planning my murder.” He told the younger, who laughed and rolled his eyes, before getting up to do what he was told.
Jack couldn't stop smiling as he went through the getting ready process, unable to think of one thing he wanted to change right now. His hair looked half decent already, which was a bonus, so he slipped into a pair of jeans and an obey shirt, topping it off with his new shoes and shoving everything he needed into his pockets. Whilst doing so, he tried to work out where him and Alex would be going. The brunette hadn't dropped any hints, but Jack could bet that he would love it anyway. He's become so soppy since he met the brunette, he was almost embarrassed, but then he wouldn't change it for the world.

A fancy lunch out and a movie later, and Jack was being driven back into Baltimore and along the road back to the field where the fair was set up when it was in town. It was still only early afternoon, and the dark haired boy was curious and excited to see what else was in store for the day.
Alex turned the car into the small car park that existed there, before leaning over to the glove compartment and pulling out one of his old Arabian style scarfs.
"Please don't put that on." Jack begged as the brunette opened it out to its full size. He laughed, before starting to roll it up.
"Nope, it's for you. A blindfold." Jack looked at his boyfriend skeptically, really not wanting to be at all associated with the item of clothing he loathed, and also rather suspicious of what was going to happen.
"You trust me right?" Alex questioned, tipping his head slightly and pulling out just enough puppy dog eyes that would convince the boy into doing anything.
"Yeah obviously."
"Then let me put it on." The younger big sighed in defeat, letting Alex wrap the stupid scarf around his eyes, successfully blocking his view. Jack heard the car door open, shut, and then his door opened and Alex grabbed his hand and guides him out of the vehicle.
"If I fall and die it's all on you okay?" The dark haired boy said, frowning as he tripped for the second time and beginning to get really uncomfortable and freaked out at not being able to see. His eyes might not be the best, but he needed them, and absolutely hated not being able to see.
"We're on flat ground now," Alex started, his voice taking on a slightly more soothing tone than normal, "and it's literally two minutes more."
Jack just nodded, gripping tighter onto the older boy as they continued to slowly walk forward, each step being tested by the younger.
"Okay stop, we're there." Alex announced, no more than two minutes later, leaving Jack to let out a sigh of relief. He felt the scarf around his face loosen and he grinned, excited to see what was now in front of him, and opened his eyes when he felt the fabric disappear.
And he was rendered speechless.
They were in a small, slightly more secluded part of the field, a few trees creating a small clearing in which they were standing. On the tree directly in front of him, pink fairy lights hung from the branches, illuminating the leaves in their sunset-like colour. By the roots on the tree, lay out a tartan blanket, which was dotted with pink petals, the colour of which matched the fairy lights.
"Do you like it?" Alex's voice was small and nervous from where he stood next to Jack, chewing at his bottom lip as he watched the younger take in what was in front of him.
"Lex it's... Beautiful." Was all he could come up with, his eyes still wide and bright, a smile on his face as he took in every tiny detail of what was set up before him.
"Good." Was the small reply, as Alex walked over to the blanket, leaving Jack where he was standing, still gawping at the whole set up.
When Jack finally dragged his eyes back to his boyfriend, he noticed he now had his guitar perched in his lap, and was looking up at him.
"Sit down." Alex told him, in response to Jack's questioning look. The tall boy eagerly followed the order, more than content to sit and watch his boyfriend sing and play, with his brunette locks glowing under the slight pink light.
"So, Jack," Alex started, looking quite nervous as said boy took a seat facing him, crossing his long legs and letting his face gaze fall on his boyfriend, "before I moved here I was terrified. Scared that I wouldn't make any friends and that everyone would hate me, scared people might make fun of my accent or what not. But, luckily for me, I got paired with the goofy, lanky, super smart kid, that happened to be ridiculously good looking and basically my perfect match. I knew from that first moment I wanted you, and despite the few bumps in the road, I wouldn't change the past year for anything."
Jack sniffed, on the verge of tears - soppy, right? - as he listened intently to every word Alex said.
"And I decided to, well, attempt to put all my emotions into a song, and here it is. I haven't quite decided a name, but I might go with Six Feet Under The Stars. Anyway, yeah."
Jack grinned ear to ear. Alex had written a song about him! Biting his lip, the younger boy admired Alex as he gracefully plucked at the strings on his favourite guitar, and the heavenly voice he possessed began to grace his ears. He often wondered how it was even possible for one boy to be filled with so much perfection, even his few flaws just made Jack fall even more in love with him – if that was even possible.
‘Meet me on Thames Street, I'll take you out though I'm hardly worth your time. In the cold you look so fierce, but I'm warm enough, because the tension's like a fire. We'll hit South Broadway in a matter of minutes, And like a bad movie, I'll drop a line, fall in the grave I've been digging myself. But there's room for two, six feet under the stars.’
The boys shared short, shy looks with each other as Alex sang, Jack grinning crazily while the brunette tried to maintain his focus and get to the end of the song without screwing up. Of course, the song was perfect – even more than perfect to Jack, and as the last note was strummed the younger boy started clapping loudly. Alex just rolled his eyes and dropped his face in a futile attempt to hide the blush that was heating up his cheeks.
“That was beautiful, Lex. Thank you.” Jack said, his voice gentle and quiet, filled with all the emotions building up inside of him.
“Did you like it?” The brunette responded, tipping his head slightly. Jack nodded and tapped his lap, motioning for Alex to join him. The elder nodded, putting his guitar to the side and quickly settling himself in his boyfriends lap.
“I loved it.” Jack murmured, planting soft kisses in the brunettes locks next to his face as Alex giggled, pushing himself further into Jack’s touch. “and you have to promise me that one day that will be released on one of our bands albums, and we can record a dorky video where we all dress up. Okay?”
Alex laughed, shaking his head slightly before twisting slightly to look at the younger boy.
“Sounds okay to me.” He said, Jack only replying with a nod as he admired Alex, smiling softly at him.
They ended up just staring at each other for about a minute, both of them snapping out of it at the same time and laughing shyly, both equally as embarrassed to be caught staring. Another moment and they were lip locked, sharing soft, gentle kisses under their fairy light lit tree. Jack thought it had been by far his best birthday to date, the first where he had spent the day truly happy, and not that bothered about his mums absence. The boy had Alex, and that was all he seemed to need.
“Oh, Alex?” Jack asked, drawing away slightly. The brunette hummed in response, showing he was listening as he gently bumped their noses together.
“You’re worth every second of my time.”
