Chapter Fifteen

*Jack's POV*

"Jack, what's gotten into you? I'm stoked to see you happy but bloody hell!" Mr Wilkinson said, staring at Jack with confused eyes. It was the day before the date with Alex; and to say he was excited was an understatement.
"I dunno, I'm just happy!" The tall boy replied with a massive toothy grin. He'd decided he would probably tell the teacher if they ever started officially dating - so not yet.
"Hmm... How's your mum?" The teacher asked, running his hand through his brown fringe and looking back at the computer screen in his desk.
"Dunno, she's in Lebanon." Jack said with a dismissive shrug - his mind was in other things than his mum. Mr Wilkinson looked up dubiously, worry evident in his eyes. "Wilko, I'm all good, she won't be back for ages so whatever!"
"Well, you know where I am." He told with a smile, deciding to drop the subject. At that moment, five students pushed their way into the classroom and looked over to the teacher. "Come in." They walked in, looking nervously up at Jack, and were soon followed by a few other members of the class. Most of the students were really short, the girls' skirts past their knees, the boys all with normal, sensible hair cuts.
"Year 7?" Jack questioned, and sir nodded. "Such fun!"
"Indeed, now go away." He said, standing up and shooing Jack away with his arms. Pouting, pretending to be offended, the dark haired boy walked out the room and headed to the music room. Him and Jenna were putting some ideas for their performance together, and Tay and Alex as well as Rian and Cass were going back today. Excitement bubbled up inside of him as he thought of Alex, and the date he had planned for tomorrow. Despite his nerves, he thought there was a good chance that it would go well. However, once that thought crossed his mind, a million and one things followed about what could go wrong. Alex wouldn't like him. Alex would think the date was stupid. Jack would embarrass himself. One of them would have a panic attack. Jack would spill food down his shirt. Alex would ask to go home early. They would bump into an ex-girlfriend if Jack's. They would bump into a teacher.

By the time Jack reached the music room, he was a wreck of nerves, but was still ridiculously happy. So he burst into the room singing.
"Climbing out the back door, didn't leave a mark, No one knows it's you Miss Jackson!" He sang loudly, pointing too the teacher as her name was said. The young teacher rolled her eyes and shook her head, before brushing the blonde hair from her face and addressing Jack.
"One day you're gonna do that at someone important will be in here as you'll ruin it." She chuckled, whilst the boy just ignored her and started dancing awfully. Jenna was sat opposite the door, and turned around to also laugh at Jack, whilst Tay and Alex were in the far corner laughing quietly, with Rian and Cass opposite them just watching him.
"What's got you all nervous then eh?" The teacher said, fiddling with the blue bits in her hair.
"Nothing. I'm not nervous." He replied, a little too quickly, so covered it up by mouthing the words to the next part of the song. "Come duet with me!" Pulling the earphones out of his phone and pressing play, he dragged the teacher into the middle of the room and started singing and dancing with her. They did this quite a bit - when Jack was nervous, which is how she knew. He loved singing and dancing, and it calmed him down a lot, and the teacher enjoyed the fun atmosphere it created.
"A pretty picture but the scenery is so loud!" Jack sang, pointing at Miss as she sang the next line.
"A face like heaven catching lighting in your nightgown!" And they went on, making Jenna join in half way through, until the song ended and the three were stood in the middle, puffed out from dancing, singing loudly and laughing at the same time.
"Oh my life I have the biggest man crush on Brendon Urie." Jack breathed as they calmed down, running his hand through his hair and smoothing it back down.
"We know, you mention this at least once a month." Jenna chuckled, earning an agreeing nod from the teacher. "Right come on we need to get some work done, grab a guitar." The blonde girl ordered, pointing to where the guitars were hung up on the wall. Nodding, Jack pranced over, flicking his legs out to the side with each step, still murmuring the words to Miss Jackson. He lifted the guitar off the wall, and caught Alex staring at him. His cheeks heated up once more at the thought of Alex, but he silently told himself he needed to play this cool. As he turned around, they made eye contact and the brown haired boy smiled shyly, so Jack gave him a cheeky wink and a grin, before prancing back over to Jenna. To people who didn't know him, they would think Jack was going mad, but really, he was just a very happy, nervous, excited teenager. So he was completely normal - at least that's what he told himself. He plopped down onto the seat next to Jenna, who was mumbling to herself whilst she clicked on the mouse and concentrated in the computer screen. Looking over the screen, Jack realised he didn't have a clue what she was doing - or at least trying to do - so tuned the guitar. After a few minutes the instrument was tuned to perfection, and Jenna was still talking to herself and the computer, absorbed in whatever she was doing. After scanning the room, bored out of his mind, he decided he needed to find something to do.
"Anyone else not doing anything?" He yelled, causing Cass too look up.
"I'm not. Ri's sorting his drumming shannanigans. What you planning?" Jack thought for a moment, realising he was desperately craving Alex's attention.
"Come sing with me." He said to the long haired girl, who nodded and walked over to Jack. He heard an over exaggerated sigh from Tay, who put the headphones over her head, making Alex giggle.
"What song honey?" She pulled out a chair and took it into the middle of the room, followed by the tall boy and his own chair, the guitar still slung over his shoulders. Smirking, he had a plan and knew it would be fantastic. He leaned overs and whispered in her ear.
"Blink. First Date. Know it?" She nodded, clapping excitedly, making her hair bounce around her shoulders. Grinning at her, he stood up and started the introduction. After the first few chords, Alex recognised it, because he turned around and stared at Jack with slightly widened eyes. Loving the surprised look in his round brown eyes, Jack winked as Cass sung the first verse.
"In the car I just can't wait,to pick you up on our very first date, Is it cool if I hold your hand? Is it wrong if I think it's lame to dance? Do you like my stupid hair? Would you guess that I didn't know what to wear? I'm too scared of what you think, you make me nervous so I really can't eat.." By this point Alex was smiling happily, mouthing along with the words. Jenna had shot Jack a scolding look, but he thought it was kinda cute what he was doing. Or as cute as it was ever going to get from him. The churning feeling in his stomach when he looked at the boy still made him nervous, but he felt he could get used to it. Now that he had accepted it, the feeling was a good one. Cass suddenly scuttled over to Alex and grabbed his hand, dragging him back to where Jack was standing. He played the same chord over and over until the girl was finished.
"Come you sing too." She ordered, shooting him a grin. Alex shook his head, laughing as his cheeks turned red. Craving to hear his voice again, he joined in.
"Aww come on Lex, pleeeeease?" The tall boy said, pulling his best puppy dog face. It's safe to say it worked. Alex smiled and blushed even more, trying to hide his face with his caramel fringe. After a few moments he agreed, and Cass squealed, telling Jack to start the second verse. He walked round so he could rest his head in the crook of Alex's neck. As the pair sang, Jack joined in quietly for his favourite two lines, singing softly so only Alex could hear him.
"When you smile, I melt inside, I'm not worthy for a minute of your time." He smiled into the shorter boy's shoulder, noticing him smile as well. Jack rubbed his nose through the light brown hair, breathing in the scent of the soft locks as the boy sang. As he felt Alex's arm snake round his waist, he knew that tomorrow night was going to work just right.

-----------------------------------------------------------

"Why are you even here? Are you staying over? What the fuck Jen?" Jack was fuming. Nerves were pulsating through his body, and now the blonde had just turned up and announced she was staying over. And as much as he loved her, this was making him go mad. Panic was very quickly building up inside him, and he was almost certain he would have an attack if something didn't calm down soon. It was six now, and the reservation was for seven, so Jack would get Alex at half past. That meant he had thirty minutes to calm down and sort himself out.
"Yeah I'm staying. I need to know how it goes! Tay might come over too so bring him home if you want. Pretend I'm not here now." Jenna said smiling, and walking into the living room.
"What the hell..." He groaned, leaving against the wall and running his forehead. "Why is Tay coming?"
"Too find out how it goes."
"So she knows?"
"Yeah Alex told her." Jack nodded slowly - he couldn't exactly be annoyed or anything. Yet, it was weird knowing that someone else that he wasn't extremely close too knew about his sexuality realisation - Rian didn't even know! Jack realised he would have to tell his short haired friend soon, or at least before he worked it out for himself. Zack would need to be told as well. His mum at some point too.
'Bloody hell' Jack thought, realising how much of a step was being taken tonight. He could never go back on this, he could never deny he took a guy out on a date - a guy he thought was attractive at that. How would the night even go? Yes, Alex had said that the feelings were mutual, but that didn't mean he would enjoy the date or decide he wanted to see how things would go with Jack. The thought of the shorter boy rejecting him made Jack flinch. He really did mean the world. That was what freaked the dark haired boy out. He never developed feelings for people, most of his relationships were flings and were based solely on sex. Finding himself falling for the boy next door terrified him. It was rare for Jack to commit to anything or anyone, but deep down he knew that if he wanted this to work then commitment would be a big part of it. Before he started worrying about commitment, he reminded himself that Alex already knew a lot about him, and had still stuck around, so maybe there was hope. Maybe. Jack was snapped from his thoughts by feeling a small squeeze on his hand. He looked up to see Jenna standing there, looking up at him with sympathetic eyes.
"Calm down honey, everything is and will be fine. Now go finish doing your hair and change your shirt so you can go and pick your date up. If you REALLY want me to go, I will. Okay?" Her eyes were lined with worry for the boy, her hand still applying pressure to Jack's. The anger and nerves slowly dissolved away from the boys body.
"I'm sorry Jen. You don't have to go, I'm just..." He ran his other hand through his hair, not knowing how to put his feelings into words.
"I know." Jenna said softly, leaning up to kiss Jack's cheek, before walking back into the living room. Nodding to himself, he bounded back up the stairs to get ready. He stripped off, and searched through his wardrobe.
'Too dressy... too casual... not appropriate... forgot I even owned that... doesn't match... ooh this will do' he spoke to himself as he flicked through his hanging up shirts, settling on a black and dark grey thin stripped v-neck top. He slipped it on over his head, liking how it went with his faded black jeans. Grabbing the straighteners, he ran them through his hair, making sure every single piece fell perfectly. He sprayed some cologne and hair spray everywhere, and when he was content, he grabbed a cardigan, his leather jacket, his black trainers and Alex's presents. He had brought the boy a glamour kills shirt, along with a signed, special edition Blink 182 album boxset. When he got downstairs, it was half past, and he was ready to go. The tall boy shrugged in his jacket, stuffing his pocket with his keys, phone and wallet - checking to make sure he had enough money to get through the evening. Giving himself one last look in the mirror in the downstairs toilet, finally happy and raring to go.
"Okay Jen I'm off." He called softly, trying not to get nervous once more. As he went to open the door Jenna ran out of the door and checked him over.
"I approve. Cya later good lookin', have fun, ca me if you need me. RELAX!" She emphasised in her last demand, giving Jack a stern look. He pranced over and pecked her cheek.
"Yes, yes. Cya later beautiful." Closing the door behind him, he decided to go right round rather than using the short cut. Bag in hand, he walked round quickly, eager to get the date going and craving to see Alex. As he reached up and knocked the door, a grin was set on his face as he took in what was going on.Moments later the door swung open, revealing a very, very handsome Alex. Jack just stared whilst the boy began to blush as he greeted him.
"Hey Jack." He mumbled shyly, smiling. The shorter boy was wearing a white v-neck shirt with blue denim jeans and army boots, topped off with his denim jacket.
"Hello handsome." Jack replied with a grin, trying to stop checking Alex out. This was still kinda weird for him, checking out a guy, but there was no way he could deny the flips his stomach was doing over the big standing in front of him. His caramel hair was flopped over his face, making his dark brown eyes glow. The blush was still lingering on his cheeks, his pink lips stretched out in a shy smile.
"Happy Birthday! Ready to go?" Jack said happily, handing the bag to Alex, who grinned happily and nodded. He slipped in to the house put the bag down, before shutting the door and following Jack down the drive way and down the road.
"So, where are you taking me?" He asked chirpily, skipping along beside Jack. Chuckling, he admired how happy the short boy was, and how his smile was contagious.
"Well, I'm taking you out for a romantic meal, and there's a fair going on in the green behind it, so I figured we could go to that cause that'd be fun." He said with a smile, hoping that Alex would be impressed and enjoy it. The older boy beamed up at him, so Jack assumed he was happy with the plan. As they walked down the road and onto the high-street, they spoke about normal, boring things to pass the time. Soon enough they arrived at the restaurant. Jenna's friends' dad owns it, which is why Jack knew about it. Him and Jenna used to go there all the time, so he was a familiar face to most of the staff there. It was an Italian style restaurant, called "Piazza Firenze". Jack opened the tall, wooden frames glass door, and stood back and motioned for Alex to walk in first. The shorter boy smiled shyly, blushing furiously, which in turn made Jack smile. He followed the boy through the second set of doors and into the restaurant. They were instantly hit by the warmth, smell and sounds from the restaurant. In front of them was a small wooden block with the booking sheet on it, and the two boys waited for somebody to notice them. The area was dotted with tables, most of them with people sitting around them, chatting and eating merrily. The walls were a dark red colour, and the front was all glass doors, lighting up the room. Jack loved the modern decor, and how you could see the kitchen. He always booked the table in the back corner, with the perfect view of the kitchen. Alex smiled up at him, delight glowing in his eyes as he looked around.
"Do you like it?" Jack asked, returning the smile as the shorter boy returned to admiring the room.
"It's great!" He replied, as a young, tall dark brown haired women walked up to them. Jack recognised her instantly and grinned, and her eyes lit up as she recognised him.
"OMG Jack! Long time no see! How are you?!" She squealed, giving Jack a quick hug. He chuckled, hugging her back.
"Not too bad, Beth. How are you getting on?"
"I work here full time now. So I'd better do my job right!" She laughed and opened the book onto the correct page and put in a professional voice. "Good evening sir, welcome to Piazza Firenze, how can I help you?" Jack took a deep breath in to try and okay along with the professional approach.
"A reservation for Barakat?"
"Ah yes," she said crossing the name off the list, "if you'd like to follow me." She picked up two menus and led the pair over to the usual table at the back. When they reached the table, Beth set the menus on the table, and told them she'd come back over in a minute. Alex managed to grabbed the chair before Jack did and sat himself down, so he sat down opposite him after removing his jacket. A moment later Beth returned with a basket with the homemade bread that everyone knew Jack adored. He grinned widely as she set the basket down on the table. "Literally made 5 minutes ago just for you. Can I get you any drinks?"
"Lemonade pwease."
"Erm, I'll have a coke." Alex said with a small smile up at the girl. Beth nodded, scribbled on the note pad and walked away too get the drinks. "So, who's that?" The older boy asked, raising an eyebrow at Jack. The taller boy heard a twinge of bitterness in his voice, but wanted tonight to go smoothly, so ignored it.
"A friend. Jenna's friends with the owner of this place, so we literally had to eat here every other night. So everyone knows me and what I get and where I sit and all that." He said, ripping off a piece of the bread and taking a large bite out of it. Alex chuckled, so Jack assumed everything was fine now, and they went into easy conversation for the rest of the night. They ate and drank, and before long they were ready to order dessert.
"Jack, I am stuffed. How can you want to order more?!" Alex asked, leaning back on his chair rubbing his stomach and letting out a groan.
"Awr come on Lex, we can share an ice cream. It's soooo good here!" He replied, shorting the brown haired boy puppy dog eyes. The boy blushed, as always making Jack smile, before reluctantly agreeing.
"Okay, fine, but when I'm told off for coming home three stone heavier in blaming you!"
"Fine by me!" Jack replied with a grin, calling Beth over and ordering their chocolate ice cream. A few minutes passed, and the boys were admiring the chef, flipping the thin dough in his hands as he made the base for a pizza. Jack was always mesmerised by the skill behind the simple looking task, and how the chef would effortlessly fling the dough to and fro, and somehow end up with a perfect circle.
"Here you go boys." Beth said, placing the ice cream on the table. Alex's eyes looked like they were about to pop out of his head as he studied the dessert.
"Holy shit." He murmured, raising his eyebrows and looking at Jack. There was three scoops of the chocolate ice cream in the glass, covered in dark chocolate sauce, small marshmallows, popping candy and two biscuits.
"Tuck in!" The taller boy exclaimed, picking up one of the biscuits off the top and biting into it. Alex slowly picked up one of the long spoons, and took a tiny bit off the side if the chocolate mountain. As the spoon reached his mouth, his eyes once again widened, but this time in delight. Jack laughed as the boy began tucking in a lot faster now, and he picked up his own spoon and took a bit. Within minutes the boys had eaten it all, and an empty glass was left in the middle if the table.
"Glad I forced you into that, hmm?" Jack said, raising an eyebrow as Alex licked his spoon clean. The brunette nodded furiously, his eyes bright. The pair asked Beth for the bill, and Jack paid while Alex went to the bathroom.
"Come on, let's go to the fair!" The taller boy said as Alex returned, and the two put their jackets on and exited the warm restaurant.

The air was a lot colder now, but it wasn't raining, which Jack was thankful for. He led Alex down the road and round the back to where the field was. The whole place was lit up with lights, and there were rides and various stalls dotted around everywhere, and lots of people bustling around. The shorter boys eyes lit up and they took in all the lights, noises, rides, people and stalls.
"Where to first then, Princess?" Jack said, looking down at Alex with a cheeky grin. The shorter boy laughed and shook his head.
"Princess? Really?" He raised one of his dark eyebrows, and met Jack's gaze. The younger boy winked, retaining the eye contact, making Alex giggle.
"Well then, Prince Charming, I think you should go and win me a cute cuddly bear!" He grinned widely, motioning to the stall that had massive, pink soft bears hanging around the opening. Jack raised his eyebrows at Alex, silently asking if he was being serious, but the only answer he got was the shorter boy gripping his hand and dragging him over to the stall. Reluctantly he followed, blushing at the way his hand was tingling where Alex was holding it. The pair reached the stall and stood in front of it. Directly in front of them was piles of three small balls, and at the back there was stacks of tin cans. Groaning, Jack knew they would be here for ages because his aim was terrible.
"Hey guys! Having a go?" A women greeted them, smiling widely. She had long, fake blonde curly hair, and was wrapped up in a plain black hoodie.
"Yes pleaseeee." Jack said, handing the women enough money for three attempts, as Alex giggled happily beside him. "Don't get your hopes up I'm crap at these things."
"Oh come on Jacky, I want a teddy." Alex whined, pouting and pointing up towards the toys. The women laughed, her eyes flicking between the two boys.
"Are you two an item then, hmm?" She asked, wiggling her eyebrows. The older of the two blushed furiously, hiding his face from the women with his fringe and looking sheepishly up at Jack. Jack quietly sucked in a breath, not entirely sure how to answer without digging himself a hole. If he said "no" he could end up unintentionally offending Alex, if he said "yes" he would be saying he was ready - which he definitely wasn't. After pondering for a moment, he knew a blush would be creeping into his own cheeks.
"Something like that, I think we're getting there." He replied, leaning in closer to Alex and smiling at the lady, desperately hoping she wasn't homophobic. However, his worries were put at rest when she giggled and clapped happily, making Alex turn and smile up at Jack before resting his head into the taller boys shoulder.
"You two look good together." She commented sweetly, turning around and motioning for them to start. Jack hesitantly picked up the first ball and looked and the stacked cans, knowing you're meant to aim for the bottom ones. He glanced down at Alex, who was eyeing the cans with excitement filling his eyes. Audibly sighing, the taller boy flung the ball, and laughed as it hit only the top one off. Alex, however, leaped up and clapped.
"You hit one!" He squealed, waving his arm frantically at the remainder of the cans. Jack rolled his eyes, and picked up the second ball, which completely missed. The third ball hit the middle row, knocking two more cans over. The older if the two was acting like it was an Olympic final, jumping around and making relevant sound effects after each throw. The second attempt went pretty much the same, so they still hadn't won the prize Alex wanted.
"Third time lucky." Jack muttered under his breath, really wanting to get this for the boy standing next to him. The first ball hit exactly where he wanted it too, knocking over half the cans on the first shot. Even Jack let out a reaction to that shot, extremely proud of himself, whilst Alex jumped on the spot. He took the second ball, aimed and fired. It hit the top of the remaining cans, leaving one left standing.
'If I miss this, I'm going to cry' Jack thought to himself, picking up the final ball and aiming for his final shot. He heard Alex take in a deep breath, which made him chuckle slightly, as he threw the ball. It felt like time slowed down as the ball traveled through the air, it's path heading towards the final can. Jack crossed his fingers and closed his eyes, knowing he would open them to either an extremely happy Alex, or an extremely unhappy Alex. Surprised by how much he wanted to make him happy, Jack silently begged for the can to be hit. And it did. The clattering sound that followed moments later signaled that he had, indeed, somehow knocked all the cans over and won the prize.
"OH MY GOD YAY!" Alex yelled, jumping up and flinging his arms around the taller boys neck. Breathing out a sigh if relief, Jack spun the boy around, huge smiles plastered to both of their faces.
"Looks like you did it!" The women running the stall said, a happy smile in her face as well.
"I have never felt under more pressure in my life!" Jack confessed, letting Alex drop off his neck and onto the floor again.
"Right, which one do you want?" She asked. Alex turned to Jack, his round eyes glowing, which made the taller boy melt.
"It's up to this one." Jack replied, ruffling Alex's hair. The shorter boy turned around, leaving his hair messed up, and looked along the row of bears. They waited for a few moments as he decided, his child like personality shining through as he frowned with his thoughts.
"That one." He decided, pointing at a bright pink bear, wearing a white top which had a red love heart in the middle. A blush crept onto Jack's face as the women retrieved the bear, and handed it to Alex, who took it off her eagerly and held it tightly close to his chest.
"Thanks boys, enjoy your evening!" The women said, waving and smiling happily at the pair.
"You too!" Jack replied, following Alex away from the stall. The pair walked on in silence for a few minutes, looking around while Alex still held his bear happily.
"Thank You Jackyyy." He said in a childish voice, leaning into his arm and smiling up at him. Jack couldn't help but return the smile, his adoration for the older boy increasing by the minute.
"Anything for you, Lex." He replied, motioning for them to try out some of the rides. Fingers snaked through his as they walked, and Jack was slightly surprised his comfortable he felt with holding hands. To others it was nothing, but right now, Jack was holding hands with another guy as a romantic gesture, and that felt like quite a big deal.

They walked around for a few more hours, going on the various rides there, trying out the games if other stalls and buying candy floss. Both boys were enjoying themselves, laughing and joking together, and generally enjoying the company of the other. After stumbling off The Waltzers ride, laughing at how dizzy they were, Alex grabbed the teddy and Jack checked the time.
"Alex it's like, 12:30 we should start thinking about heading home." He sad sadly, not wanting the night to end. The feelings were evidently shared, for Alex pouted and looked up at Jack sadly.
"We shoulddd... Okay can we go on the Ferris wheel and thennnn go?" The older boys asked, pulling his puppy dog eyes that he knew Jack couldn't resist. Sighing and rolling his eyes, the taller boy agreed, and allowed himself to be dragged towards the Ferris wheel. They reached the bottom, and Jack handed over money to the man running the wheel, and the two clambered into the carriage. They sat together, Jack watching Alex as the shorter boy looked at the world going by as the slowly started to rise. The board said the ride lasted at least half an hour, so they had ages in the carriage together.
"This place is beautiful." Alex murmured, his eyes taking in the lights of the fair once more from a slight vantage point. Jack hummed in response, his eyes not once leaving Alex's face. After a minute or two the older boy turned around and met Jack's gaze, and their eyes interlocked. The taller boy took a minute to take in all of Alex's features again - his round, dark eyes that he was easily lost in, his flushed cheeks dented with dimples when he smiled, his thick eyebrows that Jack felt matched his. Nobody could deny that he was beautiful.
"Right please break eye contact because I won't be able to prevent myself from kissing you for much longer." Alex said, chuckling slightly and his cheeks reddening. Jack moved his head away as he asked, laughing as well.
"No kissing on the first date, that's a law!" The taller boy said, wiggling his finger at Alex, who rolled his eyes before intertwining his fingers with Jack's, making both their hands tingle.
"So how do you thinks this went?" He asked Alex, silently praying he had enjoyed himself.
"Best date I've ever been on." He replied instantly, grinning up at Jack, who returned the smile as any worry dissolved away from his body.
"Good."
"What do you feel? How has this been for you?" Alex asked, keeping his eyes on Jack's face. The dark haired boy breathed out, trying to gather his thoughts and emotions so that he could audibly voice them.
"Well, I enjoyed myself, for what that's worth. I like spending time with you, and I like YOU... I think I'll get there.." He answered, hoping that was all alright with Alex. The older boy replied by squeezing his hand and smiling, his eyes shining with happiness.
"I'll wait." He whispered, tipping his head so if was leaning on Jack's shoulder. Smiling, Jack rested his head on Alex's soft brown hair.
"Alex?"
"Hmm?"
"How do you... Like.. Accept being... Gay? Don't people, like, give you shit for it?" Jack asked nervously, voicing one of his worries. It all still felt weird for him, having feelings for a boy. The whole physical side of it was fine - so far - because he would act like this with everyone. But the idea of doing anything further with Alex freaked him out a bit.
"I dunno, I guess it just kinda happened, I accepted it and got over it. Yeah I got shit, but fuck them. I had my family and true friends, what else really matters?" The older boy replied sincerely, shrugging slightly.
"What if I'm not actually gay? And this is just a phase? How do I know?" Jack questioned, frowning. These questions did worry Jack, and he knew there was no definite way of answering them. He knew he would have a hard time admitting anything about his sexuality, and he used to have a bit of a man whore reputation. Yet he couldn't deny the way Alex made him feel. Nobody had made him feel this way before. He didn't feel as safe in anyone's arms. Nobody else's smile was quite as contagious. He'd let Alex read his book, which was a big deal to him. So why couldn't he admit he liked him? Why was the fact it's a guy freaking him out so much?
"Only you can answer those questions, they're your feelings. You'll get there, and find out soon enough. We'll always be friends, whatever happens, okay?" Alex looked up and met Jack's steady gaze, as the carriage was reaching the end of its cycle. Jack slowly nodded, and ran his other hand through his hair. Maybe he could do it. He would. Deep down he knew he wanted to be with Alex, just not right now. Soon, maybe. So he whispered his reply, before he exited the carriage, Alex and his teddy in tow.
"Okay."
