The Trouble-Makers

Chapter 22

After my dad's approval on my friends, it officially opened my house as the new Trouble-Maker hang out. I no longer worried about my dad walking in while they were here because they were all okay now, and that was something I was extremely grateful for. My life was pretty relaxed right now if I ignored the fact that Nicki still constantly texted me about how worthless I was.

So the next day when the Trouble-Makers showed up at my house, I was fine with it. We were all hanging out in the living room when Alex didn't show up. At first I shook it off, figuring he was just running late but as the time went on and an hour passed I knew something was up.

I chewed on lip before flicking my phone out and shooting a text to him. The boys were all lounging on the couches, talking about Jack's job when Mike sat down next to me, obviously noticing my absence in the conversation.

"What's up?" he asked, leaning back in the couch.

I shook my head, motioning it away.

"I know something's up, so spill."

Jaime suddenly sat on the other side of me, wrapping his arms around me and pulling me into an awkward hug.

"Aw, what's wrong with our little sister?" He began ruffling my hair and I shoved him off, trying to fight the giggle that escaped my lips.

"Fine, I'm just wondering what's taking Alex so long," I said.

"Oh, lover boys taking a while," Jack said, walking over with Rian next to him.

"Too long," I added, shaking my head. "Something's got to be wrong."

"Just relax, I'm sure it's fine," Mike said, and I was thankful for his calming effect.

"Did you try calling him?" Rian asked, leaning against the wall.

"I already did," Jaime said now. "It went straight to voice mail."

I cursed under my breath, and this time Jack bit his lip. "Geez, I wonder if his mom grounded him or something," he said, but that was only the best case scenario.

I pinched the bridge of my nose and Mike rubbed my back, which I appreciated. Right now all I could think about was all the possible situations he could be in: car broke down, car crash, he got lost. I knew the last one was impossible, but still.

My phone buzzed again.

"Well, we could go check his house," Rian offered.

"Yeah, even if he's not there I'm sure his parents know where he went," Jaime added.

But I wasn't listening now because my body went numb. It took me awhile to choke out the words, but I finally managed to say, "guys." It wasn't much but it caught their attention. I looked up at Jack, my body slowly turning from frozen to angry. My blood began boiling and Mike must have sensed it because he backed away a few inches.

"W-what?" Jack stammered, thinking my anger was directed towards him.

"I need to borrow your car," I said quickly, standing up. I must have stood up quickly because both Jack and Rian took a step back.

"What for?" Jack asked, digging in his pocket. "I can just drive you, where do you need to go?"

"Kellin's," I said, practically spat out his name.

"Why do you need to go there?" Jack's voice came out more serious and he stood rigid. In fact, just by the name all the Trouble-Makers sat up straighter and looked ready for a battle.

"I'll tell you when we get in the car," I said, already walking towards my shoes.

"Okay, now what's the story?" Jack asked. We were already in his car and heading towards Kellin's, and the car was packed to the max. In the back sat Rian, Mike, and Jaime while me and Jack sat up in the front.

"You know how Nicki always texts me?" I asked and Jack's absent-minded face told me he didn't have a clue. "Well, after Zack and I broke up she's been sending pretty mean texts to me daily. I usually just ignore them, but she sent me one just now and it says 'it's so easy to piss of your boy toy. Too bad he's getting the crap beaten out of him because of it.'" The car fell silent at that and I could tell they were feeling their blood start to boil like I did.

Jack tightened his grip on the steering wheel, his knuckles almost turning white. "And what does this have to do with Kellin?"

"It's a Friday night and there's only one place the clique goes to on that night," I said, spelling it out for him. "Kellin's house because of his party."

"Someone's getting killed tonight," Jaime said darkly, normally I would find that he was joking but I wasn't so sure with his tone. Plus, who knew what he did to Kenny when they both disappeared?

"Just let me handle things first," I said, and I could feel all of them watching me, expecting me to explain more. "After I'm done talking then you guys can do what you need to." I leaned against the window, my stomach flipping at the thought of what was happening to Alex right now.

***

As soon as Jack turned the car off I was out the door. I didn't bother waiting for them because I knew they were all physical and didn't think before they did something. Therefore, I needed to handle the situation before they even got involved.

There was still just as many cars parked outside of Kellin's house as there usually was, which I found it to be odd. I couldn't imagine everyone being okay with seeing a fight and sticking around afterwards.

I threw the front door open, not finding what I pictured. Instead of being greeted by a scene where they were kicking the crap out of Alex, instead I only saw the usual party scene. In fact, Alex was no where to be seen.

"Oh, look who showed up!" I heard Nicki say, running over to me. It was obvious she had a few drinks in her. "I knew you'd show up if I threatened your boyfriend."

I didn't have the energy to argue that he wasn't my boyfriend to her. "Where's Alex?"

A smile graced Nicki's face and she leaned in. "Oh, don't worry, Kellin took care of him."

I narrowed my eyes and pushed Nicki out of my way. Of course this had to do with Kellin, it always dealt with him. Even before I befriended the Trouble-Makers he was always nothing but a pain.

It didn't take me long to locate Kellin from the crowd, and I had no idea what I was going to do or say to him. I could hear the boys walk in to the house after me, not hearing what Nicki said so they were confused on where I was going; but I had no time to explain.

As I walked towards Kellin, I grabbed an empty beer bottle that was laying around. Kellin furrowed his eyebrows at me, notcing the look on my face but I could see a spark ignite in his eyes. He knew why I was there. Before he could speak a word I took the bottle and hit it across Kellin's face, causing him to stumble backwards.

"What the-"

"Where is he?" I hissed, and when Kellin didn't respond I shoved him backwards again. "Answer me or I swear to God-" I raised the bottle up again, but it was taken out of my hand.

"Easy there, killer," Jack murmured above me, pushing me back towards Mike and Rian. Jack walked towards Kellin and now pinning him against the wall. "You heard the lady," he growled, "where is he?"

"I don't know what you're talking about," Kellin said coolly, though he cringed every time Jack moved him. There was already a bump forming on his cheek, a small gash showing where I had hit him.

"Screw this," Jack said, backing away, gesturing towards me. At that I started walking towards him again with the beer bottle Jaime replaced for me, and Kellin cringed backwards.

"Fine, he's in the backroom," he said backing away.

"You're such a-" but before I could hear Jack finish his sentence, I had already dropped the bottle and pushed my way through the crowd that was forming to watch the scene unravel. I threw open the door and was greeted by a passed out Alex. He looked like he was in pretty rough shape, his clothes all ruffled and his nose bleeding.

I cursed under my breath, rushing over to his side and smoothing the hair out of his face. "Geez, Alex, why are you so easily pissed off?" I murmured quietly.

Alex slowly opened his eyes and one of the corners of his mouths twitched upwards. He tried sitting up but winced while trying to do so. He looked around, his eyes widening. "Crap, what are you doing here?"

"To get your sorry butt out of here."

Notes

Oh man, your guys comments...seriously, they all make my day<3 I kind of started this story on a whim, so I'm so happy you guys like it c: It's nearing its end, but I am making a sequel to this! :D

Comments

Loving this already. Kinda wish there was a prologue story (or one-shot) though that could go into detail of how everything was when Stella and zack first started dating; would be so cool. And maybe even one of how the trouble-makers truly came to be. Descriptions are beyond perfection and I can't wait to read the next chapter.
